Another round of cries caused Keigo to whine and blink slowly, his arms full of his seven-month-old son who was wailing his lungs out at the moment.
"Please," Keigo sighed. "Please, just stop crying, Hino. I don't know what more to do for you. I've fed you and I've given you some medicine. Please stop crying."
As expected, Hino didn't listen, most likely couldn't understand him, and continued to sob and cry, and each time he did so, Keigo felt more of his heart break. His son had gone with a fever a few hours ago, suddenly out of the blue and currently, he was the only one home as Dabi was out for a little get-together with some of the newly released members from the old League and Keigo didn't wanna ruin his time with them.
He was Hawks, the previous Number One Hero! (with Deku taking over not too long ago and God if Keigo wasn't grateful) He could handle one sick kid, right?
Wrong. Absolutely wrong.
Keigo huffed as he flopped down onto the couch in his family's five-star apartment overlooking the city, the full moon hanging in the sky. He then held Hino close and began to rock him back and forth.
"Shh," He began, eyes half-lidded as he gently brushed his dark blue bangs from his eyes. "Mommy's here, baby. Your okay, shh."
Hino stopped for a moment, sniffling and blinking up at his mother. Keigo smiled and sighed with relief, relaxing against the cushions before Hino's bottom lip trembled and he began wailing again, this time even louder.
"Oh, fuck-" Keigo hissed, wincing at the sheer volume of his pup's cries. "No, no, no, no, no! Sweetheart, it's-it's okay! Mommy's got you, doll! Mommy's here! Please, it's okay, love. Please, stop crying. H-here! Why don't you play with one of mommy's feathers? That always cheers me up when I'm sad!"
He dangled one of his long, bright red feathers in Hino's face and his pup's cries ceased again and hopefully this time for good.
The tiny winged pup blinked at it curiously with his wet blue and gold eyes and stuck some of his fingers in his mouth as he tilted his head at it, his own white almost blue feathers twitching just a bit.
Keigo smiled as Hino reached up and poked it and sighed with relief once more as his son giggled and began to play with it.
"There you go, darling," He whispered, kissing his forehead. "See? There's nothing to be upset about. Your fever will go down soon and then you and I can take a nap and cuddle! How does that sound?"
Hino made a sound close to a combination of a chirp, purr, and squeal and Keigo chuckled.
"Yeah," He whispered, brushing some of his pup's sweaty dark blue hair from his face. "I knew you'd agree with me."
_______________
Shit, he got home later than expected.
Dabi huffed and panted as he finally got himself situated into his house, closing the door shut and locking it behind him as he entered his and Keigo's penthouse.
He looked around and noticed that most of the lights were off. Huh, that was odd. Didn't Keigo say he had some paperwork to do tonight? Dabi would understand if Hino was going to bed but Keigo was planning on staying up. Did something happen?
Dabi's brows furrowed and he walked into the kitchen and looked out at the giant living room connected to it.
The long windowed wall was letting some of the moon's light shine through and it created odd and detailed patterns on the floor and on some baby toys left out from playing with Hino earlier that day. He then walked into the living area and turned to look at the couch.
His lips parted and his eyes widened just a bit at what he saw.
Keigo and Hino were both passed out on the couch with Keigo slouched against the cushions and Hino pressed into his mother's chest, drooling all over his light blue tanktop. Their wings were both limp from being unconscious and a thermometer hung out of his mate's hand.
Dabi blinked in confusion and quietly padded over and picked up the thermometer, bringing it close to his face so he could see it in the dark.
Huh, looks like Hino had gotten a fever. That would explain why they were both passed out at the moment.
Dabi looked back up at the two and huffed a laugh before putting it down on the couch next to Keigo and very slowly peeled Hino off his chest before holding him and walking back into their bedroom, gently settling him down in his crib and pulling his tiny bluejay blanket over him.
"Goodnight, bud," He whispered and kissed him on the forehead, smiling a bit at the little sigh he received.
Dabi then proceeded to trot back into the living room and do the same thing to Keigo that he did with Hino. He picked him up, held him in his heated arms, kissed his cheek softly, and led both of them to their bedroom.
He settled the sleeping omega gently onto their mattress and draped their incredibly soft sheets over him. Dabi then kissed his temple, brushing some of his blonde hair from his eyes. "I'll be right back, babe." He whispered and nuzzled his neck, kissing it as well for good measure.
He had to take a quick shower first and then he'd get into bed with the love of his life. Dabi smiled as he quietly pried the bathroom door open that was connected to their room and looked back at the pair of sleeping beauties. He sighed contently.
"Goodnight, loves," He said and shut the door behind him before turning on the light and proceeded to get ready to take a quick shower.
After all, Keigo would kill him if he woke up and smelt the stench of alcohol and smoke on him and the last thing he would want to do is anger him when he first wakes up and he's not really ready to die just yet.
