Chapter Text

Hanta Sero was a notorious prankster, everyone in class 1A was well aware of that fact. From the classic 'jump out a bush' jumpscare to more thought out tricks, he was always thinking of new antics to mess with his classmates.

When he initially proposed his next idea to the bakusquad, everyone except Bakugou was instantly on board. "I'm not playing along with your shitty games, Soy Sauce."

"Come on Bakugou, you're always such a buzz kill." chirped Mina, any chance she had to mess with Kaminari she would take. In her opinion, he always had the funniest reactions as he usually walked right into most of Sero's shenanigans. Kaminari's loud, playful nature also made him one of the more interesting bakusquad members to prank, unlike Bakugou, when you pranked him and you risked losing a limb.

"It's fine, Mina. The less involved the better," Sero reasoned, "We're going to need to be stealthy for this one."

"I'm down, what did you have in mind?" asked Kirishima, he too agreed that pranking Kaminari was an opportunity he didn't want to miss.

"Well, I was thinking we sneak into his dorm and use my tape to stick all his stuff the the ceiling."

"How original." Bakugo huffs, annoyed they're still talking about their crappy prank. If only they put more energy into studying, maybe they'd manage to get somewhere in life.

Sero sighed, Bakugo was never any fun when it came to this sort of thing. "Bro, this is Kami we're talking about. This is gonna be hilarious."

"Whatever u say, Soy Sauce..."

_________________________

It was 05:03pm and Sero, Mina and Kirishima decided it was time to enact their plan. All they had to do was sneak into Kami's room whilst he was distracted by Momo's study session.

Bakugou reluctantly took the role of the lookout. If Denki made a move towards his dorm, Bakugou was under instruction to text Sero so they wouldn't get caught.

The three of them slipped out the common room with ease. Most people either studying or doing their own thing, too preoccupied to notice them.

After reaching the elevator, Kirishima pressed the button for Kaminari's floor. They chatted whilst waiting for the metal box to reach their destination, going over their plans again.

Giggling mischievously to each other they reached his dorm, Sero placed his hand on the door handle. Oh... It was locked.

Good thing they had a plan B. Fortunately, they had thought this scenario through.

Mina gently removed a bobby pin from her hair. Bending it and moving over to the lock, she attempted a pick it. After a minute or two, the boys started to get anxious. How where they supposed to pull an awesome prank if they couldn't even get through the door?

After a few more tries, the door swung open. The trio were greeted to the sight of Kaminari's strangely decorated room.

There was everything you'd expect a typical teenage males room to contain. Almost too typical. His mix and match room lacked a certain something, nobody could exactly put their finger on it. It was almost like it lacked true personality.

Gulping, Sero looked around. They definitely had their work cut of for them. Denki had a lot crammed in his dorm...

"Well guys, where do we even begin?" asked Kirishima, just looking at the room overwhelmed him.

"Anywhere I guess," Sero stated, "Hand me his pillow so we can get started."

Kirishima handed it to Sero who attempted to tape it to the ceiling.

Something about his dorm didn't sit right with Mina. The more she looked around the more she understood why. From the corner of her eye she spotted she a stack of books crammed in the space between his desk and the wall. Bending down to get a better look at them, she noticed they were pretty old an worn. Pulling them out and placing them on the desk meant she got a better look at what was on the covers.

One was a textbook. Not one she had ever seen before, it looked like some kind of advanced mathematics. Really advanced. Flipping through a few of the paged made her feel kind of light headed, maths wasn't her favourite subject, far from it. Why would Kaminari of all people have this? He couldn't understand what they were already learning, nevermind reading ahead? Mina decided to ask the other two, maybe they'd know. "Guys, do any of you know why Kaminari would have this?" She gestured to the textbook.

"Huh, maybe he bought the wrong one on accident," Sero reasoned whilst trying to reinforce the tape on another one of Kami's pillows.

"Yeah or maybe he's some sort of secret genius," laughed Kirishima.

"Hah could you imagine!" Mina pushed the textbook to the side. The book under was just as weird and out of place.

The next book seemed to be about human anatomy. It looked old and worn, like it had been read a fair few times in its life. Poking out the top of some of the pages where pieces of coloured paper. Blue, yellow and red seemed to be the theme. The book had been obsessively combed through. It was kind of creepy. Mina started to flip through. On the inside of the cover there was a handwritten message to Kaminari.

'Happy 10th Birthday my boy. I hope this book comes in handy in your future escapades. I know you will do well and make me proud.  - Sensei'

This message somehow made a shiver run down Mina's spine. Who is 'Sensei' and why does Kaminari, the fun loving, light hearted goofball have a creepy book like this?
"Who gets a book on human anatomy for their 10th birthday?"

"Let's see it." Kirishima gestured to the book.

"Come on guys, I can't pull of the prank by myself." Sero wined.

"Seriously dude, come look how creepy this is,"

Sero reluctantly shuffled over, annoyed his partners in crime weren't focused on his epic prank.

Once he took an actual look at the book, a feeling of unease washed over him. It really didn't seem like the Kaminari he knew would have a book like this. Strange.

"Guys it was probably just some weird gift from an even weirder family member." Sero inferred, though he wouldn't deny it WAS creepy.

"Guys, why's my pillow taped to the ceiling?"

They had been so fixed on the strange book for a few moments, they didn't hear Kaminari approach and enter his dorm.

"We...er..." Mina stumbled, closing the book and placing it quickly on the table. She had the feeling they'd seen something they weren't supposed to.

"We were trying to pull a cool prank, Bakugou was supposed to text if you came." Sero checked is phone, no text. Bakugou probably didn't care if they were caught or not. What a dick.

"What's with this weird book, if you don't mind me asking?" Kirishima questioned. Though it was probably out of line since they had literally broken into his room and gone through his stuff without asking. Still, he needed an explanation to sooth his unease.

Kaminari laughed nervously, "oh that old thing. A gift from some wacky uncle..." He eyed the book, "don't even know why I kept it."

The air in the room grew slightly tense, maybe even awkward. Kaminari stood at the door waiting, he wanted them to leave but didn't know how to go about it without seeming more out of character.

Sero cleared his throat, "Sorry man, guess that prank was a complete failure. We'll get out of your hair."

"Yeah sorry, bro"

Kaminari tried to smile like usual but something seemed off, "It's fine guys better luck next time." He moved to unblock the exit. The trio awkwardly shuffled out his dorm. They walked in silence back down to the common room.

"What's up? Was Dunce Face's dorm haunted or something?" Bakugou called to them once they'd returned. They all looked like they'd seen a ghost. "I'm guessing you found his secret porn stash then."

"Bakugou, you were supposed to warn us if he went to his dorm!" Mina whisper shouted as to not disturb anyone.

"Guess I forgot. I was too busy not being a complete fucking nerd."

They erupted into bickering, their failure tarnishing Sero's pranking record. With the tension gone, they forgot about their weird experience. Maybe they wouldn't play a prank Kaminari for a little while after this.

______________

As soon as the trio closed the door behind them. Kaminari's smile dropped off his face. Where a warm expression was moments ago, a colder and more calculating expression settled on his face. How much had they seen?

He dropped to his knees, digging under his bed for a box, that if they found, would have destroyed everything he'd been working towards.

Thankfully, it was there. Most likely untouched as it was exactly where he left it. He breathed a sigh of relief. He knew he was getting too careless. He couldn't afford to arouse suspicion. Expecially not now. He was so close.

Opening the cardboard shoebox slowly, he made sure to count that everything was there.

Seventeen separate news articles lay in the box. He look off the paperclip and shuffled through them. They were all about the one and only Hero Killer: Stain. Just looking at the printed ink words shot a surge of excitement through him. Stain was seriously cool, and everything he'd aspired to be.

He chuckled to himself, thinking about the time he accidently let it slip that he thought the hero killer was cool Infront of his classmates. He easily covered it up, with his dumbass persona he could make anything look innocent and good intentioned.

Digging through the rest of the articles, he grabbed the most incriminating thing in his room by far. His burner phone. The one he used to contact those dipshits in the league.

Kami wished he had got to work with Stain more but that moron Shiragaki fucked his chance. He didn't see what Sensei saw in him. Shiragaki seemed like one tantrum away from trying to disintegrate the entire country. He spread chaos for the sake of chaos. Those weren't the teachings of Stain. It made his blood boil just thinking about him.

Anyway, he was loyal to Sensei, he believed in his bigger picture and if it took a man like Shiragaki to get there, he would play nice. Reluctantly though, of course.

He placed the burner and the articles back in the box. It was probably time to upgrade the security of his dorm. He didn't expect them to barge their way in. They really didn't suspect him at all.

They were so, so easy for him to trick, for him to manipulate. He managed to make himself look so unintelligent and unassuming, it was ridiculous. Anytime he managed to get away with dodgy behaviour, it made him swell with pride. All those stupid, wannabe heroes will never amount to anything. Not when there was someone like him, right under their nose. He felt laughter rising in his stomach. Instead of allowing it to take hold he shoved the box back under his bed and stood up. Then he moved the books they'd seen under his bed too.

They weren't a big deal, this was nothing he couldn't joke and manipulate his way out of. They were so ignorant to the ways of the world. Their dense attitudes why he hung around them, this would probably be a lot harder if they were smarter. There where a few classmates he had to keep an eye on though, like Midoryia or Iida. There was a reason he joined the bakusquad and not their group.

Dusting off his legs, he grabbed what he'd originally came to his dorm for, his pencil case. He'd forgotten it on purpose.

He did one last check of the room. Nothing out of the ordinary now, he had to stop leaving incriminating shit lying around or he was bound to get caught sooner or later.

He couldn't stop himself from grinning when he thought about how confused the trio must have been. It was more of a sly grin than his usually bubbly one.

He took a moment to compose himself, getting back into the 'idiot Kaminari' headspace, before leaving his room.

He couldn't wait for the day they found out it was him all along, that he was a villan playing a role and not actually some dumbass with a limit on his quirk. Soon they would know, that Kaminari Denki was the U.A. traitor.
