Chapter Text
The Heights Alliance dormitories were almost always obnoxiously loud. It’s just what happens when you house 20 teenagers under the same roof for an extended period of time.
Class 1-A was already a tight-knit group, having gone through multiple attacks, together. How could they not become close? But when the dorms were introduced this bond became unbreakable. They would all fight and die for each other if the situation arose. They’d certainly fought for each other at this point, anyways.
Still, these were teenagers. They didn’t always have the best judgement and they almost never had inside voices. This only became more evident when they lived together.
Shota Aizawa was constantly fighting off a mild headache because of them. At least when they went home at the end of the day he could as well. Now, though, part of his job is making sure they didn’t get into too much trouble. And curfew. He’d busted so many of them for breaking curfew and trying to sneak in using their quirks it was infuriating.
He spent plenty of time in the dorms with them as well as out, monitoring from a distance with the camera system set up in the public areas. The rooms and showers of course were not equipped with any monitoring devices, so the teachers would take shifts making rounds. It usually turned up nothing, but there were occasions where a few kids were caught doing silly or stupid things when they thought they were in the clear.
He was in the dorms with them one evening while they were eating dinner. Katsuki had made a small meal for himself, intending to have leftovers, but of course he had never once been able to reheat his own cooking. If it didn’t get eaten right away, someone would steal it from the fridge. The communal fridge was a war ground, no rules, no gods.
Most of the class had gone to a place nearby for takeout, it having been a Friday night. The majority of them would go home the next morning to spend the weekend with their parents, so they liked to have fun on Fridays. This usually involved video or board games, movies, whatever they liked. This also meant a bigger headache for Aizawa, who pulled the short stick that week and got weekend duty.
“Please Sensei, you’d have so much fun!” Mina Ashido begged her teacher who was stationed leaning against the back wall, keeping a watchful eye over the lot. She was trying to get him to play Just Dance with them, their newest addition to the dorm’s shared Switch library.
He found her tenacity and persistence endearing, though he’d never let her know. He had developed a fondness for all of his class, really. But he wouldn’t let that get in the way of their studies, so he had to stay the strict leader guiding them through training.
“Go play yourself. Get some of your never-ending energy out.” Aizawa replied. Mina pouted, but took her turn at the game and instead chose Kaminari to dance with.
The night was pretty standard. The class played Just Dance into exhaustion before resigning to a movie. A small group had chosen to study instead of dance, but still joined everyone else to watch whatever shitty B-rated action movie they chose. Even Aizawa pulled up a chair rather than stand at his usual post.
By the time the movie was over and the lights came back on everyone was dead tired. It was late for most of them, especially Bakugo who usually turned in at 8pm.
“Alright, it’s past curfew. Go to bed. I’ll be in the monitor room if you need me.” Aizawa announced before retreating to his home for the night. He had a lot of grading to catch up on, as well as needing to keep an eye on the cameras.
The room cleared out quickly with many goodnights peppered in. Within 5 minutes there were two stragglers left in the common room. Bakugo, who was cleaning his dishes from dinner earlier, as well as Midoriya, trying to organize the mess of his notes that got used for studying.
Midoriya made casual conversation, chatting about the movie and how bad it was. It was easy, simple talk. Something they had only recently gotten the hang of.
After Bakugo’s kidnapping and subsequent rescue something shifted between the two of them. They realized they couldn’t, or at least really didn’t want to, spend anymore time fighting their feelings, the crushing weight holding them both down. Bakugo was reluctantly ready to do so, not often one to admit things first. But when the shorter boy came to his room one afternoon, fat tears rolling down his face he explained every little fondness he had for the other...Bakugo couldn’t deny he felt it, too.
So they started up a somewhat-relationship. It was very new territory for both of them and at times was hard to navigate. The first time Midoriya tried to hold Bakugo’s hand he got punched in the stomach. This was also the first time Bakugo gave him a true, heartfelt apology, though. He kissed his forehead and held his hand so tight they both sweat. It was a nice memory.
They were two months into dating and getting more comfortable with calling each other “boyfriend” every passing day. They had chosen not to tell their friends early on, until they were sure it wasn’t going to end with them murdering each other.
By that point they were doing very well, though, only ever really faux arguing. Their dynamic wasn’t something either wanted to lose, having someone to push them was important. Now they pushed each other as usual, but occasionally also shared a chaste kiss goodnight.
“You always like those shitty action movies, though, especially if they have All Might in ‘em.” Bakugo continued their mundane conversation after all the dishes were put away, dropping on the couch. Midoriya was on the floor next to him, still shoving papers into different folders.
“You’re right, I do.” Midoriya laughed, looking up at Bakugo. He looked handsome, Midoriya thought. All strong sharp angles towering above him.
Midoriya really wanted to kiss him in that moment. It was something they had started spending a ton of time doing about a month in, finding any moment to spend together. They began sharing lunch break together, sneaking away into the shadow cast by the school building. Cool brick against Midoriya’s back as Bakugo kissed him, the sweet smell of spring turning into summer, honeysuckle in full bloom.
Their friends noticed their absence. None of them mentioned it.
Midoriya climbed up the expanse between them to settle closely against Bakugo on the couch, fingers tracing circles above his knee. Sickly sweet as always, Bakugo could get drunk off the syrupy feeling Deku gave him. Goosebumps grew on Bakugo’s arms. He’d blame the blast of the A/C above them.
“Trying to make out with me in the common room? Risky,” Bakugo said, having quickly learned the signs that his boyfriend wanted attention. He was never one to deny him, but he had to put up a bit of a chase, it just wasn’t in his nature not to.
Midoriya whined and leaned in further to Bakugo. Sometimes he wanted to climb inside his skin and keep warm, take in the unmistakable scent of smoke, like a distant bonfire. “Nobody’s here..” Midoriya reasoned, “And I haven’t been able to kiss you in hours.” He dragged the last word out petulantly.
“Alright, you needy baby. Just keep your ears open, I don’t want this to be how the extras find out. I’ll never hear the goddamn end of it.” Bakugo said before he pulled Midoriya closer, grabbed his leg by the knee and threw it over his lap and across the couch.
Even with Bakugo’s manhandling, the kiss started slow and sweet. Leaning into the soft plush of the couch they took time to get reacquainted with each other, breaking often for air or to exchange words, meaningless discussion and sweet nothings.
As minutes passed the talk got to be less and less, many more long breaks of silence to instead kiss and feel one another. Midoriya’s hands gripped tightly into Bakugo’s shirt and he whined, a cramp in his hip getting the best of him. He brought his leg back to himself and planted it on one side of Bakugo’s lap, careening up and onto him.
The kiss had broken for the maneuver, and Midoriya pressed his forehead to Bakugo’s, staring into his eyes. This was new. They had spent an ungodly amount of time attached at the lips, sure, but the touches hadn’t ventured far beyond upper arms and backs. Being that close knocked the wind out of both of them, the room suddenly feeling much hotter.
“Kacchan..” barely above a whisper, “This ok?”
Bakugo stared into his eyes dumbly, forgetting for a moment to speak. “Yeah, yeah, shit.” Was the answer he settled on. Experimentally, he placed his hands on Midoriya’s hips and leaned up to kiss his neck. Midoriya keened, grip getting impossibly tighter at the front of Bakugo’s shirt.
Aizawa didn’t think of himself as a helicopter teacher. He was strict on his students but he also believed in giving them their space to learn and grow. He followed the newly set guidelines about dorm life and how to manage them in that setting to a T, though, always doing his rounds on time and efficiently. But he certainly didn’t enjoy having to bust his class for whatever infractions they found themselves in.
That’s why when he looked up to check the monitors, exactly 15 minutes after telling everyone to go to bed, and saw his problem child sitting squarely in the lap of his other problem child, he groaned. Those two always managed to make things difficult.
Abandoning his work he grabbed his keys and a few other needed items. He stood to make the short walk to the common room. He couldn’t say he was extremely shocked to see it, but he was surprised. He had noticed the two were on better terms recently. He hoped it was a reconciliation that would last and the two could finally be friends. Now he sees he underestimated the extent of this newfound common ground.
Unbeknownst to the two teens, Aizawa walked into the common room. He wasn’t trying to be quiet, genuinely not wanting to scare them. But the two were so enamored in their make-out session neither noticed the foreboding presence behind them. Aizawa on the other hand couldn’t not notice Bakugo’s hand slipping under Midoriya’s shirt and up his back, the smaller boy whimpering and holding on for dear life.
“Oi!”
Like woodland animals startled by a gunshot, they scattered to opposite ends of the couch. Aizawa rounded it to stand in front of them, arms crossed his chest, a stern and annoyed look on his face. “What do you think you’re doing?”
Midoriya was positively mortified. Blood rushing from other areas to heat his face a dark shade of red, he grabbed a pillow and held it across his lap to cover anything indecent. He looked to Bakugo for guidance, eyes wide like a deer in headlights.
Bakugo was much less bashful. He let out a deep groan and sprawled his limbs out, “You ruined a fucking fantastic moment, Sensei.”
“Kacchan!” Midoriya felt like he was going to pass out, dizzied by the shamelessness of his boyfriend. Bakugo was so undisturbed by being caught red handed by their teacher! And he was talking back!
“On the common room couch of all places? I really didn’t want to come in here at,” Aizawa checked his phone for the time, “Nearly midnight and catch you two with your pants down. Scratch that - you’re lucky I saw you before you got your pants off, this could’ve been much more embarrassing for you.”
Midoriya squeaked, “It’s not like that!” He buried his face in his hands and brought his knees to his chest. Muffled by his palms, “We were just kissing, I swear.”
“It looked to be going further than just kissing.” Aizawa stared straight at Bakugo. The boy was clearly getting handsy before he shut it down.
“So what if it was?” Bakugo gruffed. He knew the answer, and he knew he was pushing it. But he was so angry and, frankly, pent up. He was finally getting to touch Deku and it got ruined before it even started.
Aizawa sighed. He knew Bakugo was just being difficult for the sake of it, he was a smart young man. There was no doubt in his mind Bakugo knew they messed up. But there were certain protocols he’d have to follow here. As uncomfortable as it was going to be, he had to discuss safe sex with them.
Christ. Class A was going to give him grey hair.
Aizawa sat on the couch parallel to them, putting his arms on his legs and head in his hands for a moment to collect himself. He’d worked with teenagers for a good while, but dorm life and dorm duty was something else. He’d hoped to only give the sex talk to his own child one day, thank you very much. But of course the problem duo would be at each other’s throats in a whole new way that required his guidance.
Lifting his head, he made eye contact with both boys to make sure he had their attention. “Before I begin, I want you both to remember, you’re young. You’ve got a million hormones running through you right now but you have plenty of time to figure things out. You don’t need to rush into having sex.”
Midoriya whined, sinking further into the cushion of the couch. He could die right here. Bakugo stared at the ceiling.
“When you do decide to have sex, though,” Aizawa sighed, “No one’s going to be able to stop you. I caught you this time, but I’m sure I won’t ever catch you in a public space like that again.” He gave Midoriya a pointed look.
“Whether you choose each other, or someone else, you need to be safe about it. I don’t care that you’re both boys, you need protection. Unprotected sex is dangerous and should be reserved for adults in long-term, monogamous relationships. If you’re with a woman, only after discussing other methods of birth control.” Aizawa didn’t bother getting into the details of discussing multiple partners and how that affects birth control and safe sex practices. It was the bare minimum he could give here.
“Sex, in general, should be reserved for adults. Don’t have it. Especially don’t have it on UA’s couches, please.”
Midoriya nodded along with everything Aizawa said, wanting this to end as quickly as possible. Bakugo hasn’t looked away from the ceiling tile.
“You with me, Bakugo? This is important.”
“Yeah, I got it; sex is the devil, we’ll give each other every STD known to man, these couches are school property not meant to be fucked on. Won’t happen again, sir.” Bakugo replied.
“Sex isn’t the devil. That isn’t what I’m trying to tell you.” Aizawa pinched the bridge of his nose and Bakugo lifted his neck to look at him, eyebrows furrowed. That was the jist of the talk his mom gave him, so he was intrigued by how this talk could differ.
Aizawa held his gaze, “Sex is meant to be shared between two people who respect each other. Care for each other. And most of all it’s meant to be shared between two people who are ready for it. I need not remind you, you’re both 15. You’re growing up fast and you’ve faced more adversity that most face in a lifetime. I get why you’re eager to find solace and comfort in each other. That’s all on top of the usual bullshit you go through when you’re a kid. But don’t rush into it, wait until you’re sure you’re ready.”
Bakugo thought on that. As ready as he felt to keep exploring Deku, and as eager as Deku seemed in reciprocation, going any further than where they were when Aizawa found them was probably..too much. He wanted to keep Deku in his lap and feel his skin, keep kissing him and holding him. He probably would have let it go further, though, and he shouldn’t have. He kept that in his pocket for the future. They were only two months into their relationship. No need to rush it, to rush them. They were at a good place at that moment in time.
“Still, I’m required to give you these.” Aizawa fished a premade bag jam-packed with condoms from his pocket and tossed it between them. Midoriya jumped back against the armrest, like they were a time bomb ready to explode.
“Relax, nerd.” Bakugo said cooly, but still felt a blush creep to his face when he took them. “Are we done here? Can I go to bed? You successfully killed the mood, I promise.”
Aizawa nodded. “To your own rooms.” He clarified. Bakugo stood and gave Midoriya’s messy hair a passing tousle as a bid goodnight before retreating to the elevators.
Midoriya stayed a moment longer, collecting his wits before he detached himself from the pillow he had been crushing with his arms. “I’m so sorry, Sensei.” He said quietly, punctuating with a deep bow.
“Get some sleep.” Aizawa said. Midoriya nodded, and chose to take the stairs. He needed to get some of the jitters from earlier out.
Aizawa leaned back into the couch after both boys were gone, the space uncharacteristically quiet for once. He laughed to himself and retrieved his phone from his pocket, opening up the UA teacher group chat.
“You’ll never believe who I caught necking in the common room.”
