Much to Jeongwon’s surprise, he expected the hug would stop Gyeoul from crying. Yet it must’ve triggered the opposite. As Gyeoul’s crying intensified, he took a step back, put his hand on her shoulders and looked at her straight in the eye with a concerned look.
“Gyosunim….” Gyeoul called out, with a shaky voice.
“It’s okay, I’m right here. I’ll be staying by your side for a long time.” said Jeongwon smiling sweetly.
As if Gyeoul’s heart wasn’t beating fast enough already. That smile was literally the end of it. The best thing was it didn’t just end there. As Gyeoul was about to smile, Jeongwon’s hands were already wiping off the tears on her face.
Gyeoul took a step forward, and hugged Jeongwon. Jeongwon’s smile gradually grew shortly after. Gyeoul’s smile gradually grew as well. As she felt Jeongwon’s arms wrap around her.
As they stayed like that for a while, both of them basically didn’t want to let go. Yet the silence and comfort of the hug was interrupted by the phone ringing. As their hug ended by the two grabbing their phones.
“Ah, it’s mine. Give me a second. It’s a patients parent” Jeongwon said. They were thanking him over his hard work and his diligence in handling their child. As Jeongwon was answering the phone. Reality hit Gyeoul, she didn’t only get her first kiss but she got it from Ahn Jeongwon. Her crush. She found herself blushing just at the mere thought of it.
As she was still daydreaming, she didn’t really realize that Jeongwon’s call already ended a pretty long time ago. And he was just looking at her smiling as she daydreamed. “You must’ve been thinking about me, am I right?” Jeongwon said playfully. Gyeoul’s face went red, and as if she wasn’t already blushing, Jeongwon added “You should do it more often, you look cuter when you daydream.”
Gyeoul was totally dumbfounded. All this time he has never really said much to her, his teasing surely was something new. And it was a very good new thing for Gyeoul.
“Let’s grab a drink, it’s Christmas after all. Are you free?” Jeongwon asked.
“Yeah sure. I’ll meet you in the lobby” Gyeoul said with a smile as she exited Jeongwon’s office to go change. She couldn’t believe the man who turned her down for dinner eventually asked her out to drinks. She just couldn’t stop smiling.
