Work Text:

Out of all the choices Keigo has made in his life, he doesn’t think he’s ever made one as good as dating Taishirou.

Now, Keigo has never really been one for all the sweet, sentimental types of things the world has to offer, but he can’t exactly be irritated, when it comes to his boyfriend.

There are many perks to being in a relationship with him.

Such as: hugs.

Tai decides to give him one, as they meet briefly with their interns nearby.

Keigo doesn’t know what he was expecting as a reaction from the teens, as their relationship has never exactly been a secret, but out of all the things, why…

Why does Kirishima choose to say, “That’s so manly, bro!”

Keigo nearly loses his shit. He jolts to turn around and take a look at the red-haired boy, who grins and gives him a thumbs up.

Keigo then immediately glances up at Taishirou, who looks just as confused as he does, his eyes wide.

Kirishima doesn’t realize their surprise, though, because he continues on.

“My friends and I always give each other hugs like that—it’s the bro code. It’s great to see others do the same!”

And oh.

Keigo wants to laugh.

“Do you not know that we’re da—”

Taishirou interrupts him, raising his voice so he can respond to Kirishima instead. “Yeah! We’re good friends. Hugs are always a great way to greet each other.”

Keigo raises his eyebrows at the blond, incredulous.

Taishirou winks at him.

Oh gosh.

He takes the hint and doesn't say anything. He just smiles back at Kirishima.

“Well!” he says, pulling out of the embrace. “I’ve got to get going. Let’s go, Tokoyami!”

The teen in mention nods at him, and the two of them promptly exit the area.

And thus, Keigo and Taishirou begin their journey of seeing how oblivious the people around them really can be.

That is the not the first instance, and it’s definitely not going to be the last, but it’s very interesting to see who realizes, and who doesn’t.

Rumi, surprisingly enough, isn’t much more perceptive than Kirishima was.

No, scratch that.

She’s much, much worse.

She’s hanging out at Taishirou’s apartment, watching him and Keigo prepare food together, and this is what she says:

“I do that with Burnin’, too!” she says, smiling at them from where she’s sprawled across the couch. “Moe is super fun to make food with, especially since she can easily cook with her quirk!”

“Yeah?” Taishirou asks. “That sounds cool; what do you two like to make?”

“Oh, um, we bake, most of the time. Her cake recipes are the best.”

“Carrot cake?”

“You bet. We did it just last week, at our previous friend get-together. We would scoop from the slices and feed it to each other.”

Keigo chokes.

Friend get-together?

“Friends, Rumi?”

“Yeah, she’s my best friend. Just like how you two are!”

Taishirou looks down at the chopping board, trying not to laugh.

Okay. Keigo didn’t think that his friends could be this oblivious.

He’d probably be ashamed of Rumi right now, if he weren’t so busy pitying her for her loss.

“It sure feels great to be friends with you, Taishirou,” Keigo says, his voice strained.

“You too…” the man replies, coughing into his sleeve.

Keigo’s holding Taishirou’s hand when they pass by All Might.

He had just escaped from a crowd of reporters when he spots the two of them. Being the public figure he is, he always seems to make some sort of random, positive offhand comment, and oh—

“I see you two have deepened your bond!” he exclaims, putting on his usual smile.

“Oh no,” Keigo mutters under his breath. He drags Taishirou along. “Let’s go; we don’t need more of this attention.”

“It reminds me of Aizawa and Yamada,” All Might continues, and Keigo freezes in his steps.

He exchanges a knowing glance with Taishirou.

“Oh my god,” he says, exasperated, looking at the pro-hero. “How are you our symbol of peace? How are we alive under your watch?”

“My boy, I do not know what you mean,” All Might says, oblivious. He walks up to the younger man and places one hand on his shoulder. His other one rests on Taishirou’s shoulder. “I’m merely glad you two have found each other as hero partners!”

“Yeah… it’s nice to work with him!” Taishirou says.

“Yeah,” Keigo agrees, pinching the bridge of his nose. “We’ve been told many times.”

Tsunagu, who actually has some semblance of logic, lays eyes upon Keigo as he strolls into the hero meeting with a sweater that belongs to nobody else but Taishirou. They’re the only ones in the room so far, being earlier than the rest of the members who are supposed to show up.

The taller man takes one glance at Keigo, and he doesn’t blink, not even hesitating before raising both eyebrows at the pro-hero.

“I see,” he says simply.

“You see?” Keigo asks. If Tsunagu says that it’s nice he’s supporting his friends by wearing merch, he’s going to lose it.

Tsunagu stares plainly, though, before shrugging.

“You two make a cute couple.”
