Work Text:
Jotaro is not gay.
He’s also a liar.
So take a guess.
“Uncle Nori, you look like a mermaid, you know?” Jolyne waddles towards the man sitting on the couch, movements restringed by the fluffy blanket she has wrapped around her.
“Really? I’m missing a tail and a prince, though.” Kakyoin picks her up to sit her on his lap, arms comfortably around her small body as he presses himself against his best friend.
Kakyoin Noriaki has been Jotaro’s best friend since their teens going after a hundred years old vampire. Jotaro had been told many times that friendships come slowly, but he guesses fighting for you life everyday together can speed up the process a lot. Not that he has a problem with it, his friendship with Nori is one of the few things in life he cherishes above all else.
Which is why he tries to convince himself he absolutely does not want to kiss the chapstick off of Nori’s thin lips every day for the rest of their lives. And see him in those ridiculous striped pyjamas he insists in buying every night. And touch the soft, messy cherry hair. And hug the slim body to him. And keep the man all to himself, really.
Jolyne’s presence should help, but it does exactly the contrary. She should be a reminder of all the reasons he can’t simply accept his own feelings. First, Jolyne might think he left her mother because of Nori, which isn’t true. They divorced because they simply aren’t compatible, Tsuma had wanted more than Jotaro was able to give her and he felt guilty every time he couldn’t meet her expectations. Jotaro hates expectations. Second, she might not react well to her father doing couple things with a man, even if she does adore Nori—as he knew she would, because Noriaki is just great. Third, Jotaro has way too much on his plate already, with the daughter that he somehow got the custody of—really, he can barely take care of himself, she’d be better off with her mom—, his tiring job as a marine biology and the Speedwagon Foundation apparently not having any strong Stand users—which is utter bullshit, they have Noriaki and Noriaki by himself is the equivalent of an army.
Instead, Jolyne’s interactions with Nori just brings warmth to Jotaro’s heart. Nori loves the girl as if she was his own, doting on her almost to the point of spoiling. Not surprising, though, since Nori is good with kids—he has his reservations with babies and toddlers, though. And little JoJo—as the redhead had taken to calling her—is just as taken with him, affectionately calling him “uncle Nori” and always find ways to end up in the man’s arms.
And maybe Jotaro is a bit jealous of how easily she can do it, but, then again, Jolyne doesn’t get sweaty palms and a frantic heart every time the man gets near her.
“Papa can be your prince!”
That almost makes Jotaro spit out the beer he’d been sipping while he tried to pretend to focus on the movie. He’s not spared from choking on it, though, and the coughing fit takes some time to finally cease. A gentle hand pats his back gently, but he’s not about to thank the red haired bastard who’s clearly holding back a laugh. Thankfully he’s able to put the can on the coffee table before he spills it.
“Papa?”
“I’m good,” He assures, patting her head before letting his arm rest on the back of the couch.
Bad idea, though, since that left him open for Kakyoin to get even closer, which he does almost eagerly, like he had been just waiting for the chance to do so. His lavender eyes are mesmerizing in the darkness of the room, lit only by the light of the TV.
“So? Will you be uncle Nori’s prince?”
“Yeah, JoJo, will you?” Noriaki teases, making the little girl giggle and stare at her father with her big eyes.
Two against one is hardly fair.
“Don’t pull me in your fairytales, Noriaki.”
The man pouts, and Jotaro’s mantra of “I’m straight” dissolves immediately. A grown man just shy of third years of life should not be allowed to be this cute, but Nori does have the tendency to do and be whatever he wants.
Faintly, Jotaro hears the TV tell the prince to kiss the girl. He thinks.
It is hard to process anything when Nori’s breath is caressing his lips, and lavender eyes stare at him with the same longing he feels in his heart.
It is even harder when they finally kiss. Noriaki is soft and warm and tastes like fruity chapstick that transfers to Jotaro’s own lips, and one of his hands is on Jotaro’s head, pulling and caressing his dark hair, and Jotaro himself got a hold of red hair and it’s breathtaking.
It is everything he dreamed and some more.
A loud cheer snaps them out of it, both breathing heavily as they look at the little human being sitting on the redhead’s lap with a big smile on her face. The movie completely forgotten.
“That means you’re his prince, right?! And now you two will have a happily ever after?!”
Jotaro looks at his daughter. She stares back at him with a beaming grin, overjoyed with what just happened. He looks at Noriaki. He smiles at him with a careful yet hopeful look in his eyes. With a sigh, the man brings both to him in a warm embrace, feeling himself be overcome with the warmth of a family.
He feels happy.
“Sure.”
