He put a hand into his pocket and fumbled for his cigarettes. There was only one left in the package. He lit it and blew the smoke into the cold night.
Here Jotaro stood, alive.
Star Platinum materialized beside him, its luminous eyes mirroring his own despair. Jotaro could feel the Stand’s silent protest, but even it could not change his mind.
This was the only path left.
Everything connected to Cairo had to get ripped off him, until there was nothing left. Jotaro took a slow breath.
Everything would be coming to an end now.
He took a step forward.
Or: Jotaro is home, but home doesn't feel like home anymore.

Summary
Leonardo is dead.
Or, at least, he should be. Instead, he is floating within a colorful vortex that reminds him too much of his own portals. He tries not to think too much about it. But, eventually he is forced to when the vortex spits him out into a world that used to be his home, many, many years ago.
Or; the one where Future!Leo somehow managed to luck out on a one in a million mere millisecond chance of a freak glitch in the space-time continuum that sends him back into the present, where the Invasion has been successfully driven back. And it looks like it was a one-way ticket travel.
Obviously, everybody is So Very Normal about this.

In truth, Donnie had known it all along. Even in this best-case scenario, only one of them could get out of this place. Mikey and Raph couldn’t sustain the portal, and the added weight of both Leo and Donnie together would have only made the strain worse. Donnie could see the cracks charging further up Mikey’s entire body and knew they didn’t have long. Much like Donnie and Leo, they were tired.
Not to mention that with Raph balancing Mikey’s energy (from the looks of it) and reaching out, there was no one to stop the Kraang from coming out with them.
And, well, Donnie had long given himself that role when he was first left on the platform. When he made this plan with Leo. When he had told him three of the four steps with such confidence that Leo didn’t know otherwise.
So, he’d known. He knew all along that it had to be Leo to get out. The better twin.
