Bakugou Katsuki is Afraid of Two things

Summary:

Bakugou Katsuki is afraid of one thing. Okay, maybe two things, if he thought about it. The first thing? Well, that would obviously be his mother. The second thing? It was slightly embarrassing to admit, but that would be a certain green-haired boy.
And no, not the boy himself, but what the boy said. This fear manifested itself quite quickly when Bakugou woke up one morning.

Work Text:

Bakugou Katsuki is afraid of one thing. Okay, maybe two things, if he thought about it. The first thing? Well, that would obviously be his mother. The second thing? It was slightly embarrassing to admit, but that would be a certain green-haired boy.

And no, not the boy himself, but what the boy said. This fear manifested itself quite quickly when Bakugou woke up one morning.

“Good Morning Bakugou-kun!” Midoriya says cheerfully as he steps into the bathroom to brush his teeth.

Bakugou was already washing his face but stopped halfway to look up at the green-haired boy.

“The hell did you just call me?”

“Bakugou-kun?” Midoriya repeats.

Bakugou turns back to the sink to splash some more water on his face. That nerd was most certainly planning his death. And he had no idea what he had done wrong.

School started and everyone rushed into class to make it on time, but Bakugou made sure to take his time so he wouldn’t run into the nerd again.

“Hey, Bakugou? Are you okay? You’re looking pale today,” Kirishima says.

“I’m fine!” Bakugou growled.

The rest of the Bakusquad just continued on their day, completely oblivious to how different Bakugou was acting.

The second encounter happened halfway through English class. Midoriya had asked to use the restroom and Present Mic allowed him. Getting up, he said, “Bakugou-kun? Can you please move your bookbag aside? I really don’t want to step on it.”

Usually, Bakugou would just ignore him, but this time was different. Bakugou grabbed his bookbag and yanked it over his desk to the other side.

“Thanks, Bakugou-kun!” Midoriya said quietly before making his way out of the room.

If Bakugou wasn’t sure that the nerd wanted him dead before, he knew it was certain now.

Lunchtime rolled around and Bakugou was acting rather skittish. Growling at every tap on his shoulder and snarling whenever someone wanted to talk to him. It reminded a certain purple-haired boy of a cat.

After getting his lunch, Bakugou was walking over to his usual table when the nerd spoke up again. “Hey Bakugou-kun! Would you like to have lunch with us?”

It’s a trap, it’s a trap, it’s a trap, it’s a trap, Bakugou repeated in his head as a police siren flashed in the background. “Nah, I’m having lunch with Kirishima and the others,” Bakugou said in a weirdly calm voice.

“Okay then,” Midoriya said, still as cheerful as ever.

It took a lot of willpower not to blow up the entire cafeteria right then and there.

The rest of the day goes rather smoothly as Bakugou tried his best to avoid the nerd. That is, until hero training class.

“You will be paired off and faced against each other. It will be a lot like the assignment you got in the beginning of the year, except this time, you’ve gained more experience,” Aizawa droned. “There will be a pair of villains and a pair of heroes. Your job is to hold off the villains and save as many kidnapped victims as possible until backup arrives in fifteen minutes. The minimum is being able to save seven victims, capture one of the villains, and cause as little property damage as possible. Does everyone understand?”

“Yes sir!” the class responds.

“Alright, I’ll be reading out your pairs. First hero pair, Midoriya, and Bakugou. They will be facing off Kaminari and Shinsou. Next will be…”

Bakugou tuned out his teacher as he finished reading off the first group. What the actual fuck is going on? Was this some kind of joke?

“Bakugou-kun!” Midoriya approached him, “Do you want to make a plan on how to defeat the villain pair?”

“No,” Bakugou growled, “We’ll just go in there, beat them up, tie them up, and then save the dummies from the facility.”

“But we don’t know where the facility is,” Midoriya starts, “We need to tail the villains until they lead us to the victims.”

“Fine, then we’ll do that,” Bakugou says.

Aizawa hands all the hero pairs a roll of tape to use for the ‘capture’ part of the mission. Then, before he knew it, the mission started. Bakugou leads the way to tail Kaminari and Shinsou through the city streets until they stopped at a dimly lit building.

“Listen here, Deku,” Bakugou starts, “I’ll go around the back to tie anyone of them up, and you go inside to rescue the victims, you got it?”

“Got it, Bakugou-kun,” Midoriya replied quietly.

So they split up and Bakugou headed towards the alleyway, where he surely saw someone head into. It was dark, but Bakugou didn’t dare try to light up the alleyway. It would give his spot away in case there really was no one in the alleyway.

But then, he heard a voice, “Kacchan! I had to jump out the window, both of the villains are in the room with the victims, we need to work together!”

Bakugou opened his mouth to respond, but then stopped. ‘Kacchan’? The nerd’s been calling him ‘Bakugou-kun’ all day. There was no way he was switching back now. Which only meant that the person talking was not Midoriya at all. It was Shinsou and his stupid voice imitation support item.

He had to think quickly, time was running out and there was no way Midoriya could save seven victims all by himself. Bakugou had to take down Shinsou before making his way into the building to rescue the rest of the victims. But he was in a dark alleyway. And Shinsou had a capture weapon that could easily catch him if he gave his spot away.

Then, an idea struck him. Grabbing one of the grenades from his belt, he threw it on the ground and jumped onto one of the window ledges as the explosion happened. The smoke was enough to create a diversion as he moved his way towards the figure in the shadows.

Shinsou was trying to use his capture weapon to reach for the smoke when Bakugou let go of the window ledge and landed squarely on Shinsou’s back, knocking him to the ground. Grabbing the roll of tape, Bakugou quickly wrapped a strip around Shinsou before using his explosions to blast his way up the roof of the building.

Since he couldn’t just shatter a window to get inside, he exploded the doorknob of the roof access door and quickly made his way inside. Running down two flights of stairs, he saw that Kaminari had already been tied up with tape which meant that Deku was already dragging the wooden dummies out of the building.

Looking around, he spotted the green mop of hair at the far end of the hall.

“Deku!” Bakugou yelled, “How many more victims do we have to save?”

“Three more, at least!” Deku yelled with a wooden dummy on his back, “They’re really heavy, Bakugou-kun, so one at a time is the most ideal!”

If Bakugou was counting correctly, they only had about five minutes before backup would come. There was no way he was going to be carrying one dummy at a time. Walking into the room, he grabbed two of the incredibly heavy dummies, slung them on his back before making his way to the stairs as quickly as possible.

As he went down to the second floor, Midoriya was already going back up to get the last victim. Bakugou knew they could do it. Using any extra energy left in his body, he sprinted to the door and left the dummies in a group outside the building. He considered going back inside to check on Midoriya but the green-haired boy arrived shortly with the seventh dummy just as the timer went off.

Shinsou came out of the alleyway, having already gotten the tape off his arms and headed into the building. Only a few minutes later, the purple-haired boy came out carrying a short-circuited Kaminari bridal style.

“I told you it was a bad idea to short-circuit so quickly Denki! This is exactly why you were wrapped up in the tape so easily!” Shinsou scolded the blond.

“Wheeeeeyyyyyy!” was the blond’s response, holding up two thumbs up to show everyone that he was alright.

Shinsou only shook his head smiled fondly at the blond before he made his way out of the beta city with Midoriya and Bakugou.

“Good job on controlling property control Bakugou,” Aizawa said, “There was much less damage this time compared to the beginning of the year. Midoriya, good job at not breaking your bones and managing to save more than one victim, that was a great improvement.”

Turning to the villain group, Aizawa started telling them what they needed to work on before the next round started.

“That was pretty great, Bakugou-kun,” Midoriya said from his spot.

Bakugou shrugged in response, “He called me Kacchan.”

“Who? Shinsou-kun?” Midoriya asks.

“That’s his name? Well, eyebags used his stupid imitation device and used your voice. Said that you jumped out the window because both of the villains were inside guarding the victims. But then he called me ‘Kacchan’ first but you’ve been calling me Bakugou the whole day.”

Midoriya chuckled sheepishly, “Sorry I’ve been calling you Bakugou today. I lost a bet with Todoroki-kun and this was what I had to do. It was really weird to call you by your last name the whole day.”

Bakugou turned. So this was why the nerd’s been so scary the whole day. It was good to know that he wasn’t going to be murdered any time soon.

Notes:

So, this was just an idea I got when I was eating breakfast so here I am. Impulsive oneshot number three. Honestly, I feel like this could've been better but like I said, it was impulsive, please don't kill meh. (TTvTT)
