   Summary

   Just after Leonard goes off on a months-long research project overseas, Penny gets an unthinkable, terrifying diagnosis. Uninsured and broke, she has no idea how she's going to live with this illness -- or how to deal with possibly dying from it. Sheldon steps in to help, with a solution that could literally be a lifesaver, at least until Leonard is home. However, this proposal of pragmatism soon reveals feelings that neither of them are ready to deal with, especially when this is a matter of life or death. But there's a difference between "life" and "being alive," and the question is, can they find a way to have both?
