“HEYYY, little listener!!”

Shouta glanced down at his young son, expecting him to jump behind him to hide or at least flinch, but surprisingly, Izuku didn’t seem bothered at all.

Instead, a grin spread across his chubby face, exposing the gap where his first baby tooth had fallen out barely a week ago. “Pa!” He cried, running over to his second father, little arms raised as high as they could go.

Hizashi bent over and scooped Izuku into his arms, pressing a kiss on each cheek and hugging him tight. Hizashi was good with this sort of thing– he always seemed to know the exact amount of pressure Izuku needed at the moment.

Izuku giggled, and a smile crept its way across Shouta’s face. He watched with affection as his husband swung Izuku around, peppering kisses on his cheeks, nose, and forehead. Izuku cackled in pure delight, hugging his father as tightly as his tiny arms possibly could.

“How was your day, angelface?” Hizashi asked at last, settling down to place Izuku back on the floor.

“Awesome!” Izuku grinned. He jumped up and down in place. “D-Daddy and wen-went to UA and I gotta see his class! They let me look at all their quirks!”

Hizashi grinned, bending over to ruffle Izuku’s hair. “Is that right?” he asked, bright emerald eyes peering up at his husband.

Shouta smiled gently, replacing Hizashi’s hand and patting his son’s fluffy mop.

“Wanna tell Pa about their quirks?” he asked gently.

Izuku turned slightly to nod excitedly at him before looking back at Hizashi.

“Koko-san’s quir-quirk was called, um, I thin-think it was called Hot Chocolate,” he began, thinking back over his day. “She had a thingie on her back. Daddy said she’s kinda like Vlad-san! She can melt the chocolate and make it into diff-diff’rent stuff. She made a sword, Pa! It was sharp and everything! She had a big fight with Aoi-san, you shoulda seen it Pa! Aoi-san was throwing wa-water at her, and Koko-san made a HUUUGE wall of chocolate!”

As Izuku continued to ramble, he bounced happily on his feet. His fingers tapped in a frantic staccato rhythm against his thigh as his excitement grew with every word. Shouta and Hizashi smiled at one another.

Izuku finally wrapped up his rant– a quick glance at the oven clock showed well over fifteen minutes had passed– and was starting to show signs of exhaustion. He was clearly happy, going by the ever-present smile on his chubby little face.

“Alright, little man, I think it’s time for a nap,” Hizashi chuckled. Izuku only nodded, smile dampening a bit.

Suddenly, something they never expected for a very long time happened.

Izuku brought his arms in, tucked his elbows into his sides, and began to flap his hands.

It wasn’t a lot– in fact, he only flapped a few times– but it was flapping nonetheless. His hands dropped soon after, and he waddled tiredly over to his dad. His arms raised above his head, fingers making grabby motions in a silent plea to be picked up. Shouta complied, and Izuku was soon nestled in his arms, head resting on his shoulder.

“Alright bud, let’s get you to bed.”

Izuku only nodded.

Out of the corner of his eye, Shouta watched his tiny son. Izuku waved at Hizashi as he began to walk to the little boy’s bedroom. Izuku stuck his thumb in his mouth and gave a happy little sigh around it.

Once in the bedroom, Shouta was quick to undress his son and change him into his fluffiest pair of pajamas– a little white number with brown bears decorating the fabric. He tucked him into bed beneath his weighted blanket and pressed a soft kiss to Izuku’s forehead.

“I love you, Izuku,” he whispered, lips lingering for just a moment before he pulled away. Izuku smiled tiredly at him. His eyes drooped shut, his breathing evening out. Shouta sat a moment longer before he reached out, absolutely sure his son was asleep, and stroked the fluffy bangs away from his forehead.

Later, as Shouta and his husband sat on the couch, the TV muted and the captions on, Hizashi would squeal in delight at the day’s events. “He flapped his hands!” Hizashi would practically shriek, and Shouta would hiss at him to quiet down while biting back a smile of his own.

But that was later.

For now, Shouta sat on his son’s bed, running his scarred fingers through his boy’s soft hair, and thought about how lucky he was to have such a loving, caring husband and a sweet little boy he could call his son.
