Chapter 1: At the beach

Notes:

(See the end of the chapter for notes.)

Chapter Text

With both organizations growing closer over time through planned activities like camping, hiking, karaoking, drinking, sporting, and even as far as taking vacation trips to foreign lands together.

And today was no different as they would all head to the beach together which Dazai HATED.

Not only did the ocean tempt him to commit suicide but the water reminded him all too much of a certain someone’s beautiful drowning eyes that everyone would be completely drooling over.

From where Dazai was, almost burying himself completely in the sand underneath the shaded umbrella from above his head, he could practically see the show his chibi was giving.

Coming back to shore in a very slow and sensual attitude, like he was on a modeling set, was the short tempered man who flipped his hair back, almost caught in slow-mo, as he ran a hand through those red locks.

Toned chiseled abs that would make any man jealous caused others to eye the traces of already drying water droplets, starting from his stomach, all the way to his sides, then sinking incredibly low inside those bulging trunks.

Not to mention Chuuya’s radiant glow.

Light orange freckles appeared more prominently, adding some color to his soft milky skin, next to the fair pink blush settled upon his cheeks. Dampened but still fully defined eyebrows only enhanced his expressive appeal.

Help from the sun made it seem like he had his own golden ray of sunshine following him everywhere he went.

And maybe just maybe if you squinted hard enough to the top of his head there may or may not have been an airy crown of gold speckles highlighting the godly complex residing within him.

No scratch that.

This wasn’t Arahabaki’s doing.

This was simply Chuuya’s beauty presenting itself clearly both inside and outside of his body which made others want to

worship

him that much more.

Dazai’s eyes don’t just narrow but his pupils slit at the sight of everyone deadlock in place ogling, staring, glancing, and getting hard ons from the attention Chuuya gets.

“Hmmm looks like I need to do some work fufufufufu,” he whispers sinisterly.

Observing the gathering people, he makes a mental note to somehow eliminate these, how do you call it,

fanboys of Chuuya.

“Dazai-san,”

he doesn’t even remember when his protege approached him, but when he looks up, Atsushi shivers involuntarily out of pure fear

Dazai wasn’t aware with what eyes he was using to look at Atsushi,

black, void , and menacing

“We... we uh— wanted to kno...w if,”

barely able to say a sentence and lightly scratching his head; Atsushi has only ever heard about Dazai’s past from Akutagawa

yet why did he feel like he was being stared at by the Youngest Port Mafia Executive right now.

In the moment Atsushi thinks he’s understood Akutagawa’s pain just a tad bit more.

Though he would never admit it out loud that he’s gained

respect for his partner

because just how did he manage to keep up with Dazai if he was looking at you like that let alone train under him

Wouldyouliketoplayvolleyballwithus?”

Atsushi asks in one go without breathing, afraid he’d break under the other’s torturous gaze.

He also results to twiddling his thumbs like a kid who just got scolded (when he doesn’t even know what he did wrong!)

as he nudges his head over to where the gang was at.

Dazai follows the direction of his head and sees Akutagawa and Gin on one side of the net, while Kyouka and Kunikida were on the opposite, all stretching their limbs

even cracking their necks for what should be just a friendly volleyball match.

Ranpo had somehow ended up being the referee with the whistle dangling from his neck.

So when shiny emerald green met Dazai’s red amber orbs

he wore a teasing smirk knowing full well why Dazai was irritated which caused the younger to scold aloud, being the first to look away.

“Dazai-san,” the said man tiger began to show some actual concern for his mentor.

“Is everythi-“

“Everything’s just fine, Atsushi-kun~~”

Missing his usual teasing tone despite how  Dazai sang his response, Atsushi immediately knew everything was NOT okay

“I’m just....,” bringing his index finger to tap against his chin very contemplatively.

“‘working’~~“

At that Atsushi was already on his heels, not needing to be told twice.

“Do I even wanna know?”

Akutagawa asked with a roll of eyes at the sight of a shivering Atsushi who tried to reel back from the animosity he experienced.

Too frightened to speak, he just shakes his head and proceeds to focus his mind on playing volleyball.

until he and everyone else around hears

“Chuuya-san!”

Heads turn to see that Tachihara was sprinting with all his might to reach Chuuya with a white towel in his hand for an offering.

Apparently he was also observing Chuuya just as Dazai had been from afar and saw how Chuuya failed to squeeze out the wetness out of his hair.

Upon reaching Chuuya who was star struck and a little confused about what was going on, Tachihara presented the towel with a formal bow.

“I saw how you struggled to-“

His words end abruptly when Chuuya grabs the towel from his hands and goes as far as ruffling his set of dark ginger hair.

Trying to cough off the already prominent blush on his face, Tachihara rises his head up to view Chuuya’s heartfelt “thank you” smile, as a form of thank you.

Suddenly the beach is silent......

Until a few broken words spill out of Ranpo’s dying laughter

“Someone ahahaha— better stop— ahaha him”

Tachihara doesn’t even need to turn out to feel that all too familiar threatening aura behind him.

Of course his big gesture wasn’t unnoticed by Dazai.

However as Tachihara and Chuuya look over their shoulders to grasp a better understanding of this entire commotion.

They don’t expect to see Dazai faced planted in the sand as Atsushi prevents his head from rising, while Akutagawa seizes both of Dazai’s legs to immobilize further movement.

Kyouka as well as Gin sit on his back to add extra weight for discomfort. Then there’s Kunikida who does his best to cling onto Akutagawa’s back in hopes of pulling Dazai’s feet back all together.

Gulping at the ruckus he’s created, Tachihara receives spider chills on his skin. Leaving the rest to his imagination for what could’ve happened if the ADA members and his subordinates were nowhere to be found.

Scary.

Dazai Osamu is a scary man, recalling his initial memory of him stealing away Chuuya at Bar Lupin.

“If you aim too high it’ll be a bother for both of us”

Goosebumps erupt intensely, feeling all of his hairs flare up at the warning thrown at him.

Chuuya on the other hand seemed unfazed at the turn of events. No reaction to the captive prisoner on the sand, still clawing to move forward despite the heavy pressure of his captors on top.

Instead he shrugs his shoulders whilst taking a deep breath, and carries on by slinging his arm around Tachihara , bringing the embarrassed boy close to him.

“Drinks are on me kid,” Chuuya happily announces. He drags Tachihara towards a nearby bar and the latter does nothing but let himself be dragged away.

“Hai Chuuya-san!” Replied the black lizard commander, humming pleasantly at the win he scored, ignoring the pained voices in the background.

“Dazai-san! Stop it! Please!” Atsushi desperately pleas.

“Oi! Dazai! That’s enough!” Kunikida begins to reasons

Akutagawa and Gin solemnly nod in agreement. But they knew it was futile to ever stop Dazai whenever he got like this

“Maybe Chuuya-niisan likes Tachihara too,” Kyouka coldly remarks, giving up all hope to reason with the bandaged man.

Kyouka!” Atsushi scolded, starting to feel his mentor go limp

No more movement came from him as if he were shot dead by Kyouka’s words and the soul crushing heartbreak he’s already feeling.

“Ughhshshjjhhj,” Dazai continuously groans out his frustration in his now immovable state.

“You won’t win the man over like that,” chimes in Ranpo in his “I told you so voice”, stuffing another lollipop in his mouth.

Chapter 2: Morning after!

Notes:

(See the end of the chapter for notes.)

Chapter Text

Already sensing something was amiss, Chuuya slowed his stroll to his office.

He was always an early bird, coming to work earlier than most, but the halls were extra quiet.

Too quiet.

No one greeted him, “good morning Chuuya-san!”

Nor did he receive any respect bows, bright compliments, or schedule updates for the day.

It almost seemed like everyone vanished...?

Brushing off his observation, he entered his office with the mindset of completing his work, but this morning just felt so off.

Where was everyone ?

As he came closer to his desk, he also noticed a brewing cup of black coffee.

On alert about the drink since he was a man with many enemies who wore a target on his back everyday, he inspected it to see if there was any poison.

Seemingly harmless, Chuuya took the risk of bringing the dark liquid to his lips.

Rich and bitter, exactly the way he liked it.

Narrowing his eyes at who would’ve done such a thing, he eventually gives up the names he’s mentally listed and drinks more of the acidic beverage to soothe his throbbing headache from yesterday.

Yesterday.

Chuuya hadn’t quite remembered the events of yesterday’s day off

as he was too busy getting shit faced drunk with what his name, oh right,

 Tachihara.

Everything had been a solid blur yet he distinctly made out one memory where Tachihara turned pale, like death was literally approaching him, at the sight of someone behind him.

The boy began to stammer a name that he couldn’t quite hear, almost begging to be spared.

And when Chuuya tried to turn around to face his culprit, he completely blanked out on the bar’s table.

After that he hazily recalled someone tucking him into bed, fingers intertwined with his as he felt the faintest of peck on his forehead.

By the time he woke up, nobody was there. It was him in his empty, spacious room.

Huh

Maybe he had dreamt the entire thing last night.

Now here he was now, practically gulping down the mug in his hand instead of doing work that needed his attention, about to go into a fit,

Ane-san gently opened his door.

“Chuuya-kun”

Arching his brow, “nee-san”, what brings you here?”

By bringing her kimono sleeve to cover he mouth she attempts to stifle imminent chuckles,

“apparently, it seems like all of your squadron members called in sick,” delivering Chuuya cheeky glints in her eyes.

“What?!,” he roars hurriedly, threatening to shatter the mug,

 “Why?! How did this happen?!”

“Hmmmm,” she plays dumbly, stalking over to take a seat on his couch, “maybe your secret admirer poisoned them to get your attention”

Seeing how Chuuya’s face morph into confusion, as thinking was not his strongest suit, she lets out the laugher she’s been holding in.

Feeling the frustration sink in, Chuuya grabs a handful of paperwork to get his mind off of the breaking news he’s just received.

“Oh, more one thing thing Chuuya-kun,” Kouyou stands up, ready to take her leave, faintly smirking at reaction she’s sure is to come,

“Boss said because you don’t have a team today, you have to work with Dazai,” she hears both the paper and mug drop as she props the door open,

“Something about teaching Shin Soukoku how to work together.”

“SHITTTTYYYYY DAZAAAAIIII”

Later on, waiting for him at the training grounds were the bandaged freak, the wear tiger, and the loyal Mafia dog.

Upon making his entrance, Dazai’s eyes lit up and he swooned over to a very angry Chuuya who aimed to kick his stomach.

“Chuuuyaaaa ~~~~”

The suicide maniac tried to coil his arms around the smaller’s waist but Chuuya’s hand in his face prevented him from going any further

“Shut up will you!”

“Ehhhh!,” tugging Chuuya’s free wrist forward to bring him close enough to nip his outer lobe.

Dazai continued,” I thought Chuuya would be happy to see me”

“Especially after how good I was when taking care of you last night”

he purred while slender fingers massaged the younger’s sides in an all too sensual manner that didn’t light a pooling desire in Chuuya’s groin.

A breathy gasp escaped Chuuya as he tried to complain, “Cut.. that shit out! Mackerel!” yet the blush on his cheeks seemed to say otherwise.

“Hmmmm~~~,” grabby hands going south on his body, even shamelessly passing his ass to feel it up which made Chuuya weak in the knees.

Uselessly squirming to get out of unusually strong arms, he stops resisting after barely hearing Dazai’s discreet statement

Mine! Chuuya’s mine”

About to argue back, he felt his face getting lifted by bandaged hands to study chocolate orbs staring at him.

They tried to take you away from me at the beach”

They? Chuuya thought, who was they?

Dazai tightened his embraced, making his possessiveness clear with his head sitting on top of Chuuya’s,

“and he almost got away with it”

He?! Chuuya mentally screamed, who was Dazai talking about?!

“What,” Chuuya swallowed a gulp, whispering, “do you mean...?”

Above him, Dazai sighed out of defeat, “Chibi’s sooooo dense”

“Hey!”

“But,” again cupping his chibi’s face to plant a loving kiss on those  fierce red curls, “that’s what I also like about you”

Obviously still clueless that he was confessed to, Chuuya went limp.

He allowed the other man do as he pleased, letting himself be imprisoned within stinky mackerel arms.

Meanwhile, shin soukoku was observing from a third party point of view, watching their mentors perform unconventional mating rituals.

They had no right to disturb whatever was going on with Dazai and Chuuya-san, seeing how they had witnessed them become a..... thing ?

Well it wasn’t much of a shocker, seeing how they had to physically restrain Dazai from murdering Tachihara, and possibly everyone else gawking at Chuuya.

Looking away for a moment, Atsushi spots a small piece of paper fluttering beneath a rock.

He suspects it fell out of Dazai-san’s tan coat during his dashing bolt to Chuuya earlier.

Before it blew into the wind, Atsushi grabs hold of the paper. Next to him, Akutagawa scoots closer as he was also curious in reading what the written content said.

Eliminate Chuuya’s fanboys” was bolded at the top.

Immediately their heads shot up to look at each other in horror, eyeing back and forth between this possible evidence of murder, then to each other.

Atsushi’s hand trembled and Akutagawa’s pale face turned paler at what else was potentially jotted down.

Below that title was a list of Chuuya’s subordinates who didn’t show up today, all their names crossed out in red ink.

With Tachihara being listed as number one.

After fully inspecting the list, Atsushi and Akutagawa eyed each other intensely, communicating what their mission would be whenever another day off occurred.

Sadly, they had to make sure there would be no more beach days.

And that whenever both organizations went out together, they would make SURE it wouldn’t be at locations where Chuuya would gain attention.

They hung their heads low, sighing miserably because they knew already that it was impossible for Chuuya to never not attract crowds.

As they took one final look at the poor victims on this hit list, they both shivered at the thought of not getting there in time to stop another one of Dazai’s attempted killing sprees.

More so at what Dazai would do to these poor victims again.

Tingles crawled down their spine once again.

Scary

Dazai Osamu was a scary man whenever it came to Chuuya.
