Work Text:
“Do you need help setting up the camera, Izuku?” His boyfriend asks from the edge of the bed, sounding as smug as ever.
Izuku shoots him a halfhearted glare over his shoulder. “I absolutely do not . I’m just focusing the lense on us. It takes a second.”
Shoto snorts softly. “ Sure .” He drawls sarcastically, just as Izuku finally gets the damn camera in focus.
He lets out a sound of triumph and presses the record button. “Alright, we’re rolling. Let’s do this.” Izuku grins, plopping next to his boyfriend on their bed.
Shoto wraps his arms around his waist, and rests his chin on Izuku’s shoulder as he does the intro to his youtube channel.
“Hey guys, It’s Izuku, and..” He leads off for his boyfriend.
“Shoto.” He mutters awkwardly. Izuku smiles fondly, continuing on with the intro.
“Last week I asked you guys which video you wanted me to film, and the majority chose boyfriend Q&A. So.. that’s what we’re doing today.” He giggles shyly, scratching his cheek mindlessly.
Shoto smiles softly, and sits upright, leaning back on his palms. Izuku suddenly realizes something when he sees his boyfriend in the viewfinder.
“Oh gosh! I haven't introduced you guys to Shoto yet!” He says, and then pokes a finger into his boyfriend's pale cheek. “This is my boyfriend, Shoto. Isn't he handsome?” He smiles cheekily.
Shoto rolls his eyes with a bashful blush. “Stop flirting with me, and start asking the questions.”
Izuku jumps to it. “Right!” He yips and bends down at the waist to reach for his phone on the floor.
He feels a playful pinch on his butt, and he immediately squeals, his face heats up in embarrassment. Izuku sits back up, features fixed into another glare aimed at his smirking boyfriend.
“Really? On camera?” He asks with a pout.
Shoto’s smirk widens. “You can just edit it out.”
Izuku mocks him under his breath, and pulls up the list of questions fans had been dying to know about their relationship.
“Okay!” He exclaims, holding the phone up to the screen. “I have compiled a list of questions from the comment section of the last video. These were basically the top twenty comments, so please don’t get upset if we don’t answer yours.” He smiles sheepishly.
“Alright, let’s get started then.” Izuku continues, Shoto hums beside him, looking over his shoulder at the phone screen. “First question, when and where did we first meet?” He glances sideways at his boyfriend who looks as impassive as ever.
“High school. First year.” Shoto answers shortly, Izuku chuckles fondly, prepared to elaborate.
“We had the same homeroom class in first and second year, so that’s how we got to know each other. We started dating in our second year.” Izuku explains a bit giddily. He loves thinking about how they first met. It always brought butterflies to his stomach.
They move onto the next question.
“Here, why don’t you read it.” Izuku says, handing Shoto his phone with the list of questions. “We’ll take turns.” He grins, and Shoto squints at him before looking down at the screen.
“Um, second question. Where was our first date?” Shoto reads aloud, looking expectantly up at Izuku.
“He took me to the zoo!” He exclaims, smiling widely at the camera. “It was so much fun, he even bought me these lion sunglasses that.. I probably have around here somewhere.” He mutters at the end, eyes trailing around the room.
“Izu,” Shoto stops him gently before he could go into a tangent. “Next question.” He says, handing him back the phone.
Izuku flushes bright red, and sends his boyfriend a thankful smile. “R-Right! Okay, third question, what was your first impression of me?”
Shoto hums, eyes moving to the side in deep thought. “Well, I thought you were really cute when I first saw you. Is that a first impression?” He asks, innocent.
Izuku splutters, flustered. “Y-You— I’m e-editing that o-out!” He pouts, too embarrassed to look at the camera.
Shoto chuckles. “You asked for my first impression. I believe that is what I gave you.”
“You thought I was cute the moment you saw me? I find that hard to believe.” He scoffs softly.
“Of course I did. You were shorter than you are now, had chubbier cheeks, and were very, very talkative. I was absolutely charmed. ” Shoto smiles cheekily, and if Izuku wasn’t already bright red before, he definitely was now.
“O-Okay, next q-question!” He wheezes, and promptly ignores Shoto’s snickers. “Who said ‘I love you’ first?”
Now it’s his boyfriend's turn to blush. “Definitely wasn’t me.” He grumbles as Izuku smiles sinisterly.
“It was him.” He answers happily. “He was all shy when he said it too. It was the cutest thing ever.”
Shoto groans dramatically. “I was not shy. Don’t tell lies.”
“But you were all red. Red down to your neck!” Izuku laughs, then adds, “And you were stuttering like crazy. I thought it was super adorable.”
“Alright,” Shoto snips, and snatches the phone out of Izuku’s hands. “You’ve had your fun, you little devil.” He grumbles under his breath. Izuku giggles loudly.
“Okay, here’s a question for you, my lovely boyfriend.” Shoto says sarcastically. Uh oh, Izuku has awoken his competitive side. He’s definitely in for it now. “What was the first thing you noticed about me?”
Izuku immediately burns a bright red, heat taking up his entire face. “I refuse to answer that on camera.” He grits out, and Shoto falls backwards onto the bed with laughter shaking his shoulders.
“Didn’t you tell me it was my—?” Izuku quickly slaps a hand over his boyfriend's mouth.
“ No, I have never once mentioned any part of your body to you. Nope. Never. Ever .” Izuku blabbers, and lets out a small shriek when Shoto licks a strip up his palm.
“He said it was my legs.” His boyfriend says into the camera, as Izuku squawks in the background. “Because they’re so long .”
“ Shut up, shut up! I’m editing that out!” Izuku yells, and then shuts off the camera in a fit of embarrassment.
They spend the next ten minutes wrestling playfully on the bed.
They show up on camera again with massive bed heads.
“Slight break, but we’re back.” Izuku grins sheepishly, phone in hands again, Shoto at his side, significantly less tense than an hour ago when they first started filming. “We left off on question five, how long have we been together?”
“Five years. Soon to be six in June.” Shoto answers quickly.
“Yup!” Izuku speaks up. “June fourteenth.”
They smile at each other before Izuku moves onto the next question.
“What do we argue about the most?”
Shoto makes a sound in the back of his throat. “We hardly ever fight. But for the most part, it’s about food. If we should or shouldn’t get takeout on a certain day, or if someone forgets to take the chicken out of the freezer before the chef gets home from work.” Shoto says, pointedly aiming his words at Izuku who balks, offended.
“That was one time.” He frowns, and then adds, “And he isn't the only one who can cook. I make excellent Katsudon.”
Shoto mouths something into the camera that Izuku doesn’t catch, but is almost one hundred percent positive that it was something about his cooking. He sends his boyfriend a glare, which is met with an impish grin.
“Next question,” He scoffs softly, dropping his eyes back to his phone screen. “Do we have nicknames for each other?”
His boyfriend immediately jumps in to answer. “I like calling him Bunny, but he hates it.”
Izuku blushes fiercely. “It’s embarrassing! ” He jumps to defend himself, and then adds, “Shoto won’t let me call him Sho-chan.”
“And I never will.” His boyfriend states firmly. “You could literally call me anything else and I would be fine with it. But I draw the line at that God awful nickname.”
Izuku rolls his eyes playfully. “It’s not even that bad. It’s not any worse than Bunny .”
“It is way worse than Bunny.” Shoto argues back. “You’re not winning this argument. I win. Next question.” His boyfriend says dully, and it takes everything in Izuku for him not to burst out laughing.
“Fine, fine. Second to last question, who gets jealous easily?”
“Me.” Shoto answers immediately. “It’s me, and for good reason. Izuku attracts people to him like moths are to a flame, I need to be protective over him.”
Izuku scoffs playfully indignant. “I d-do not. I’m just very friendly.”
“Yeah, so friendly that they decide to ask for your number.” Shoto grumbles, and then quickly says, “Okay, let’s move on, I’m already getting mad just thinking about it.”
Izuku laughs loudly, before looking back down at his phone for the final question.
“Last question, it’s a pretty interesting one, who loves the other more?”
“Personally,” Shoto starts. “I think it’s me, but Izuku probably doesn’t think so.”
“Of course I don’t, because I definitely love you more.” He replies with a shrug.
Shoto hums sarcastically. “That’s impossible, but whatever you say.”
“It’s true!” Izuku huffs playfully.
“I’d call it a tie, for now. I’ll definitely show you just how much I love you, later.” Shoto replies with a glint of mischief in his eyes. That sentence was loaded.
Izuku blushes a violent red. “Sh-Shoto! I can’t p-put that i-in! Say something normal so I can end this v-video, you freaking perv.”
Shoto laughed quietly as he revised his answer to the question twice before he was able to say it into the camera.
Izuku says his outro, and the pair wave a final goodbye to the lense before Izuku gets up and presses the stop button.
“Finally done!” He cheers half heartedly, collapsing face first onto the mattress. He looks up at Shoto from his spot, sending him a cheeky smile. “Thanks for doing this with me, it was fun.”
Shoto smiles softly, and leans down, pressing a sweet and slow kiss to Izuku’s lips. “You’re welcome.” He says when he pulls away. “You should nap for a bit, don’t stress about editing until you’re well rested and fed.”
Izuku pouts, but doesn’t argue. “Will you make me something when I wake up?”
Shoto nods immediately. “Of course, I will. Now sleep, I’ll wake you up in an hour.”
You didn’t have to tell Izuku twice. He was out like a light not even a second later.
Izuku’s new video received very good feedback from his viewers. He was in bed, a day after he posted the Q&A, scrolling through the comments and smiling so hard his cheeks hurt.
A lot of the comments were about how handsome Shoto was, which was to be expected. His boyfriend was very handsome.
But to his own flustered surprise, most of the comments were about the two of them together. Some people were commenting about their cute dynamic. Some commented on the way Shoto or Izuku would steal glances at each other throughout the entire video.
The majority of them were calling the couple soulmates.
Izuku glances over at his sleeping boyfriends face, his cheek squishing against his pillow, looking so incredibly adorable and absolutely agrees that, yes, Todoroki Shoto is his soulmate.
There’s no other person on this planet that could make Izuku feel the way Shoto makes him feel. He doesn’t need the internet to confirm it for him either.
He’s known since their first kiss that he would spend the rest of his life with Shoto, and things haven’t changed since.
And they never will.
