Work Text:

“Okay, Shoto just left for work, so I can finally start filming this video.” Izuku says into the camera, holding the tripod aimed at his face from an upper angle. “This week’s video is basically just gonna be a compilation of me annoying my boyfriend for five days. Let me set up my camera properly so I can explain more.” He smiles.

He sets the tripod up on the kitchen table, focusing the lense on himself. Izuku plops himself in a chair in front of the camera, centering his body before breathing a smile.

“Okay,” Izuku huffs. “So, I’ve been binge watching couple videos on Tiktok for, like, days now, and I noticed that a lot of them were just pranks of some sort. Basically, I want to prank Shoto, but not in a mean way. This is the best way to do it, in my opinion.”

“I didn’t want him to know anything about this, so that’s why I waited for him to leave for work. I will get his genuine reaction.” Izuku says determinedly, then sags back into his seat with a chuckle. “Alright, that’s all for now. The next clip should be the first day of pranks.” He says, and covers the lense with a hand to film a transition later.

A sinister smile makes it way onto his face. He cannot wait for this week.

Izuku secretly sets up his phone up on his nightstand, hiding it behind a picture frame of him and Shoto at their high school graduation.

Nothing suspicious about that, he thinks to himself, and immediately scrambles onto the bed when he hears the water stop running in the bathroom.

Izuku looks at the camera one more time, shooting it a cheeky grin, before snuggling into his blanket and readying himself for his award winning performance.

Shoto walks out of the bathroom a minute later, hair tousled, and already in his pajamas. He crawls into bed, and grabs his phone, mindlessly scrolling through his notifications.

Time to strike , Izuku thinks giddily, and then clears his throat softly.

“Sho?” He calls out, muffled by his duvet. His boyfriend hums, but doesn’t look at him. “I feel like you could’ve been nicer to me today.”

Shoto immediately looks up at him from his phone, eyebrows furrowing with worry and confusion. “What?” He asks gently, setting down his phone to the side. “What did I do?”

Izuku melts, but desperately tries not to show it. “I don’t know, I just… I feel like you could’ve been nicer.” He trails off, eyes averting to complete the look of innocence. Izuku is evil.

“Was it something I said? Do you want me to get you anything?” Shoto asks, scooting closer to him on the bed, leaning his body forward so that he could look Izuku directly in the face. “I’m sorry if I was mean. I guess I had a bad day, I don’t know. I won’t do it again, I promise.”

Izuku cannot do this anymore. He lets out a soft giggle and tackles Shoto into a hug, pressing soft kisses to his neck.

“I was just messing with you. You weren’t being mean.” Izuku grins when he pulls away. “I’m filming for a video.” He says, turning to point at the camera hiding behind the picture frame.

Shoto looks up and makes direct eye contact with his phone. He frowns petulantly, looking down at Izuku on the bed. “Do you know how worried I was? I thought I ignored you or something.”

Izuku giggles cheekily. “Well, at least you care! I love you.” He says, and puckers his lips for a kiss that never comes.

“No kisses for you until the morning. I am upset with you.” Shoto says, and then turns his back to Izuku, scrolling through his phone again.

Izuku gapes, baffled. “Shoto, it was just a joke. I’m sorry!” He pleads, shaking his boyfriend’s shoulder.

Shoto ignores him for the rest of the night.

Prank, successful? Sort of.

Next day, next prank. Only this prank was less serious, and more fun. That way Shoto wouldn’t ignore him for hours until he wanted attention.

They’re both in the kitchen, Shoto standing in front of the stove cooking pasta for their weekly pasta dinner. Izuku decides to strike now, seeing no other opportunity to do something so random.

He secretly sets up his phone to record, and then walks over to Shoto after he waves quietly at the camera.

He stands in front of Shoto’s side profile, and puts his arms in the air, smiling goofily when his boyfriend shoots him a strange look.

“What are you doing?” He asks, and reaches up to high five Izuku’s hands, which has him giggling loudly.

“Do you want a hug?” He asks, and wraps his arms around Izuku’s waist. When all Izuku does is laugh some more, he pouts softly. “I have no idea what you’re doing, ‘zuku.”

He doesn’t reply, opting for a cheeky grin instead. Shoto squints down at him.

“Do you want me to tickle you?” Shoto asks, and then pokes his fingers onto either one of Izuku’s armpits making him choke on a loud scream. Shoto smirks. “Guess not.”

Izuku huffs but keeps his arms raised, determined to pull this prank off. So far it seemed to be working.

“I seriously don’t know what you’re doing, so I’m gonna have to kick you out of the kitchen until further notice.” Shoto sighs, and bends down to hook his hands around Izuku’s thighs, lifting him off the floor and wrapping them around his waist.

Izuku squeals, falling forward and wrapping his arms around Shoto’s neck, afraid he might fall. “Put me down!” He laughs, punching Shoto’s back as he leads them to the living room.

He’s suddenly dropped onto the couch without warning, eliciting another yelp from him as he scrambles to sit up right.

Shoto pushes him back down with a hand against his chest, smiling teasingly down at him. “No more distracting me or else the pasta is gonna burn. You stay here until I call you into the kitchen.” He says, leaning down to press a quick kiss to Izuku’s mouth before leaving him behind on the couch, speechless.

This prank was a bust , he thinks, letting out a huff of air.

This one would surely work. Hopefully. If Shoto’s feeling extra playful today, and would indulge Izuku just this once.

His boyfriend is out on their terrace doing his usual stretches before he goes out on a run. Izuku finds it might be the perfect time to cause some trouble.

He grabs his phone and sets it up to point at the open door leading to the terrace, and then quietly mouths a greeting at the camera before sneaking up to Shoto with an innocent smile.

“Sho, I wanna dance.” Izuku says, standing in front of his boyfriend with a small smile on his face.

Shoto stares at him for a second, face slightly sweaty and red from the short workout. “Then dance.” He says, putting his hands on his hips.

Izuku snorts quietly, and steps closer to his boyfriend. “I wanna dance with you . Please?” He asks, reaching for his hands, and putting them around his waist.

Shoto’s eyes widened a bit, eyebrows shooting for his hairline. “But I’m all sweaty right now. Are you sure? We can always do this when I come back from my run. You know, when I’m not sweating.” He says, with a slight pout.

Izuku shrugs carelessly, reaching up to wrap his arms around Shoto’s neck. “I don’t care. I just wanna dance.”

His boyfriend chuckles down at him. “Fine, I’ll indulge you just this once.” He says, taking one of Izuku’s hands and making him do a twirl.

The night ends with them dancing together on the terrace, Izuku long forgetting he ever set up his camera in the first place.

Since his last prank totally bombed, Izuku was more prepared this time around. This prank didn’t involve any movement, thankfully , just talking, and being a little shit. Two things Izuku was very good at doing.

This time he doesn’t need to set up the camera, instead holding it in his hands and subtly pointing it at his boyfriends cute, unsuspecting face.

“Sho, is there something you need to tell me?” Izuku asks in a conspiring tone, pretending to be scrolling through something on his phone.

His boyfriend looks up at him, confusion written all over his face. “No?” He says, voice tilting up in question.

Izuku bites back a grin. “I already know, just say it.”

Shoto frowns at him. “I don’t know what you’re talking about..”

Izuku continues on with his act. “Are you seriously playing dumb?”

His boyfriend blinks, then puts on a thinking face. He sighs, probably searching his brain for anything he could’ve done that might have upset Izuku.

“Is this about the strawberries? I finished all of them yesterday, is that it? I could go buy you some more right now.” Shoto suddenly admits, and Izuku gasps sadly.

“You finished the strawberries?” He pouts.

“Sorry,” Shoto smiles sheepishly. “Is that what you were upset about?”

Izuku presses stop on his phone, and sinks into the couch. “It is now.”

Shoto gets up from his seat, and braces his hands on either side of Izuku, leaning down and places a sweet kiss on his lips.

“I’ll buy you more, I promise.” He mumbles against his mouth, and Izuku smiles gently.

“You’re the best.”

Shoto smirks. “I know.”

At the end of the week, Izuku shows Shoto the finished product of his edited video before posting it to his channel.

“I can’t believe I didn’t notice, or realize what you were doing. I knew you were acting weird, but I thought that was just you being you.” Shoto scoffs, and Izuku gasps in fake offense.

“Are you calling me weird?” He pouts.

Shoto smiles softly, eyes still trained on Izuku’s laptop screen. “Yes, but it’s not a bad thing. I love it when you’re weird.”

Izuku rolls his eyes playfully. “Yeah, yeah. I’m uploading it, gimme back my laptop.”

Shoto laughs quietly as he hands Izuku his device, watching with his chin planted on his shoulder as Izuku expertly uploaded the video onto his channel.

He lets out a sigh, and leans back into his pillow. “Finally. Now I can relax.” He smiles happily, placing his laptop on his nightstand.

“Can I help you relax?” Shoto asks, chin now resting on Izuku’s chest.

He quirks an eyebrow. “How are you gonna do that?”

“I can kiss you.” Shoto smirks softly, suddenly crawling farther up Izuku’s body, bracing his hands on both sides of Izuku’s face.

He blushes furiously, eyes averting to the side. Even after five years, Izuku still gets flustered when Shoto is forward with him.

“That could work.” He mutters, and his boyfriend lets out a soft chuckle.

They spend the rest of the night relaxing together.
