Work Text:
Izuku woke up in his cell, the same clock glaring at him from the outside of his bars.
12:00 pm Oct. 5
His nostrils flared when a guard passed by, who made a face at him that was one in between smug and vicious.
He didn’t know how long he had been in here, but it had been a while.
He needed out. Now.
Last time he tried to make a break for it, he was threatened of having one of the men going and killing one of his classmates. The classmates that were probably looking for him at this very moment. He waited some time. He needed them to think that he wasn’t going to try making another escape attempt.
He knew the guards schedules. It shouldn’t be too hard. His wrists hurt and his newly stinging ankle was something he could deal with—
[ “he ignored the crunch in his foot and his own scream as his foot stayed in place while his whole body turned over.” ]
He shook his head as he pushed the thought out of his mind. What was that? That hasn’t happened before. That wasn’t even a memory. He didn’t know when that would have happened, and if it happened recently it couldn’t have. He was stuck in this cell for…
Huh? It feels like he just got kidnapped today, but he has memories of being here for longer.
Was it the result of a quirk? A sharp dagger of pain stabbed into his head and he groaned as he held his head in pain.
Why does it feel like he’s asked that question before? Another pain was sent through his head and he decided that he’ll just stop thinking about the certain problem he had now.
Yeah, the escape plan.
Izuku looked at the clock before he laid down in the middle of the cell. His shackles loosened because of all the times he was pulling them when no one was looking. They now could come off but he didn’t reveal that yet. The stinging in his ankle was from the shackles around both of his feet but they could now come off at any time too. He just needed to wait.
When the clock passed a minute, Izuku heard the sound of one of the guards' footsteps come nearer. Right before they passed by the cell Izuku made himself limp and held his breath. The guard walked by his cell and took a glance at him before stopping in panic.
There was the sound of keys jingling and Izuku heard the guy come in.
“Oh shit. That’s not good.” The teens shoulders were shook as the man tried to ‘wake him up’. Right when he was about to leave to grab someone, Izuku jumped up and yanked at his chains, tearing them off the walls and then sharply bringing his elbow to the villains temple, knocking him out easily. Izuku made sure to hold him before he dropped and used the keys in his hands on the cuffs he had.
It took a while but when all four of the cuffs came off, Izuku felt the power of One for All flow through his veins.
This was good.
Izuku quietly let the guard down in the corner so no one would be able to make out his features unless they looked extremely close.
He had a limited amount of time. He had to get going quickly.
Izuku locked the doors and bolted down the hallways quietly, mind going as fast as he could as he turned corners and dodged any guards.
“Come on, come on, come on…”
[ “c’mon, c’mon, c’mon…” ]
He shook his head as he ran down the corridors.
He’ll worry about that later.
He just needed to get out .
He was so close .
There was a spiral of stairs when he got to another hallway and sighed in relief as he started to make his ascend.
He was going to make it.
Alarms rang out.
Izuku cursed and moved faster.
He was so close .
Izuku reached the top of the stairs and sighed in relief seeing light shining through a small window from the top of the room. He was above ground now.
Exit. He needs to find an exit.
There was yelling and Izuku bolted in the opposite way from it down the halls. He just needed to find a window big enough for him to jump out of.
There.
Izuku pulled up the window and kicked out the screen and he wiggled out, hearing more footsteps heading his way.
He was running on pavement before he knew it.
He couldn’t hear the alarm coming from the building.
Where was he?
Izuku saw a map out of the corner of his eye standing on the side of the road and his eyes widened.
Kamino. Again.
Kamino was far ways from UA.
He just needed to find transportation.
Izuku sped up with One for All, knowing that it was illegal to use his quirk in public.
But he knew that this was a desperate situation.
He hopes they’d let him be.
Someone was following him, he didn’t notice until he looked back and saw another figure trailing him.
He needed people. A crowd.
There was the train station ahead of him. He could make it. He had too.
Izuku, in a last desperate attempt, poured more power into his body and zipped away faster, slipping into the train right when the doors were closing and ultimately losing the person trailing behind him.
No one was on his cart, so that was good, there’d be no questions about his quirk use.
“Arriving to Shizuoka shortly”
Izuku woke up with a start and panicked, realizing that he fell asleep. He looked around but relaxed, seeing no one watching him.
He got off the train in a hurry, zipping pass people without his quirk this time.
He just needed to get to UA. That was all.
He needed to find someone he knew. Someone he could trust. Someone who—
There was a black flash of familiar hair that Izuku had recognized and before he could process what he was doing he shouted.
“AIZAWA-SENSEI!” The teacher turned around with a surprised and worried look, seeing Izuku immediately and starting to run towards him. He just needed to get a little closer.
They were so close.
So close.
Their fingertips grazed each other and they almost smiled before a shroud of purple emerged out of nowhere.
Aizawa, because of his experience, pulled back just in time to avoid it.
But Midoriya couldn’t as he sank into the purple.
A devastating and frustrated scream tore out of his mouth when he ended up in the same cell he had been in for the past few days.
“NO! LET ME GO! I DON’T WANT TO STAY HERE—“ there was a bang on the bars and Izuku silenced, seeing red eyes pierce at him, evil glinting in it as it stared at his trembling figure.
“Really thought that you’d be able to escape, didn’t you little hero? Sorry to disappoint, but heroes always let you down in the end.” Shigaraki laughed maliciously at him before showing him the key to his cell and shackles and then stuffing them into his own pockets as he gave the greenette another glance.
“Too bad, so sad.”
Izuku wailed silently as the other left down the hallway.
“Better luck next time, Izuku Midoriya.”
Izuku didn’t even get the chance to look up and scream as he passed out.
