"Summer!"

"Swimsuits!"

"Vacation!"

"EHHHH?!!" Nene and Kou simultaneously screamed, eyes wide and jaw dropped open.

You see, by an unexpected turn of events, they have found themselves in a beach. Not just any beach, but one that just so happened to be situated within a boundary. How did they get there, you ask?

You can ask the disaster twins currently fooling around the sand.

Haven't we done this sort of thing before? Nene thought, looking down at herself. She was in a pretty cute ruffled swimsuit, with a turquoise to white fade color, just like the one she had worn the last time.

As with the boys, Kou was in his blue swim trunks, and the twins… the only thing that changed was that they had those Hawaiian themed shirts that honestly, only an old man would wear.

"Hey, Hanako! What's the special occasion?" Kou pulled Hanako away and held him still by the shoulders.

"Nothing! I just thought we could use another vacation, that's all!" The ghost merely grinned, pulling up the ridiculous snorkeling goggles up from his eyes.

"Eh?? But Amane, I thought you said it's because you wanted to see Nene in a swimsuit again—" Tsukasa got attacked by sand when Hanako kicked on the ground. Kou eyed him suspiciously.

"I said no such thing!"

"Guys! There's some people selling drinks by the side! Let's go!" Nene called out to the boys, who obediently moved to her side in an instant. Well, Kou had to stagger since he was the one who had been dumped the responsibility of carrying their giant beach ball, which means he literally cannot even see which way he was heading.

Damn.

"Nene, Nene!" As per their usual encounter, Tsukasa immediately clung onto Nene by the back, making her almost fall forward to her face if not for Hanako helping her out.

"Tsukasa, get off her!"

"No!"

"No need to fight, you two…" It was no use anyways. The twins began to bicker yet again, with her getting caught in the middle of it all.

Enter Kou to the rescue! He set the ball down on the sand to peel off Hanako and Tsukasa off his poor senpai and unceremoniously plop them down. "You guys need to learn your limits!"

"Jackass." Tsukasa grumbled.

"Watch your language!"

"Okay, stop fighting and just get your juice already." Nene handed the boys a couple of plastic cups with straws inside. When you thought about it, they kinda looked like a mom dealing with her three destructive sons who wouldn't behave at all.

A couple of Mokke were busily dragging some toy shovels and buckets along beneath their feet, and there were others who were heaving a surfboard towards the water. Come to think of it, the beach boundary were mostly just them and Mokke today, with some other supernaturals.

"Hey, why don't we go surfing too?" Kou had spotted other surfboards perched under some coconut trees, being watched over by a Mokke. The twins immediately beamed at the idea.

"Nene, why don't we ride the same surfboard?" Tsukasa suddenly appeared by Nene's side, startling her a little.

"Eh? Uh… sure—" Unfortunately Tsukasa was pushed aside by Hanako, who protectively wrapped an arm around her shoulders and pulling her away from his brother.

"In your dreams!"

Kou held out both his hands before any more fights broke out. "Just let Senpai ride her own surfboard and quit fighting!"

"Yeah, that's a great idea, Kou-kun!" Nene sighed with relief when the brothers reluctantly agreed. "Besides, you two fight like there's some sort of contest."

Uh-oh. That lightbulb suddenly switched open in their brains. Oh no, they have an idea in their hands.

Both Kou and Nene did not like the knowing smirks on their faces at all.

"Say, Tsukasa… why don't we have a little contest, then?" Hanako spoke a little too nicely.

"Sounds like fun, Amane! What kind of contest will it be?" Tsukasa replied with the same tone.

"Whoever does better in everything we're gonna do here in the beach gets to be around Yashiro all day tomorrow."

"And what if one of us loses?"

"They gotta clean the toilets all day tomorrow!!" Kou chimed in too enthusiastically, making everyone stare at him with shock, especially Nene.

"Kou-kun?!"

"Sorry, got too excited… I just wanted to give you a break from toilet cleaning, Senpai." The blond sheepishly admitted.

I have such a kind kouhai!!! Nene internally weeped.

"Anyways… why don't we start with a surfing competition? The one who catches the biggest wave wins this round."

"Deal! I'll beat you for sure, Amane!"

Watching the twins race towards the surfboards, Nene could only anticipate what kind of stupidity would result from their dumb contest. I hope they don't do anything stupid to hurt themselves, though…

Their so-called competition had some pretty amusing outcomes throughout the day. In fact, all of them had been kept tabs by the Mokke following the group around, taking pictures with a camera (that they may or may have not stolen from a certain pink haired ghost) and giving out scores when the unwilling Nene and Kou could just watch the chaos unfold.

First was the surfing competition. They were surprisingly good at it, but it all ended in a wipeout when a giant wave crashed onto the two and washed them on the shore. Hanako had a starfish stuck on the back of his head and Tsukasa had accidentally eaten sand, so the Mokke scored it a draw.

"A ten? Yeah, a ten."

"A ten! For both!"

What kind of score is that for a wipeout…? Nene sweatdropped at the big number 10 on the Mokkes' scorecards.

Second was sandcastle building. While Nene and Kou helped some Mokke build their own sandcastle, the twins were trying to outbuild one another, but the only problem was…

"Aren't they just making tall mountains?" Kou whispered next to Nene as they watched Hanako try to push Tsukasa off his sandcastle. If you could call a poorly made mountain with a dead leaf as the only decoration a sandcastle.

"I don't think they know how to make a sandcastle."

Both sandcastles toppled and crumbled down, bringing the ghosts down with them. The Mokkes lifted up their scorecards.

"That was an eight!"

"Their sandcastles looked like poo! Eight it is!"

Next was the beach volleyball game. Or… a weird 1 vs 1. No one else but Hanako and Tsukasa were playing, besides, being on either side would lead to destruction.

This is getting way out of hand. When are they gonna give up?

Kou was one of the reluctant referees. "Okay… you guys know the rules, right? You gotta score around three and you win. Ready? Go!"

The ball was thrown up in the air, and for the next consecutive minutes it was tossed back and forth. The crowd of Mokke, as well as some random supernaturals, followed the speeding ball with their eyes going left and right and occasionally letting out an awed gasp.

"They're gonna burst that poor ball into pieces if this keeps up."

"Wow, they're really good at this!"

"Um… aren't they going a little too fast?" Nene worriedly asked, seeing as the match was becoming more and more intense at the moment. Hanako slammed the ball with such strength that it hit the ground with a bang. A literal bang.

Sand flying everywhere, and Nene shook it off herself before standing up from her seat, waiting for the dirt to settle down. As expected, the ball had blown up from the hard smack, as everyone can see it on the very big crater it left in the middle of the sand court.

"Eh… Amane, you broke the ball!" Tsukasa whined. Hanako nervously chuckled, averting his eyes away from the ruined ball.

"At least I win?"

"Nope!" The Mokke scoring them brought up their cards. "You lose!"

"Destroying the ball won't give you a high score! No points for you both!"

"WHAT?!"

Hanako took out his knife and pointed it at the unfortunate Mokke. "I don't think you've been fair with your judgement here."

"Eek!"

"Hanako-kun, that's enough!" Nene stepped in, to the relief of the Mokke as they hid behind her legs. "You and Tsukasa-kun need to stop this whole thing! It's getting out of hand!"

"But Yashiro—"

"Come on. Not everything has to be contest. There's plenty of me for everyone!" She joked, trying to lighten up their mood. Hanako chuckled a little from her bad attempt at being funny.

"You better be careful with your words, Yashiro." He hovered up to her side, hugging her as he would always do. "I might just do something to you."

Nene didn't trust her voice to say something back, so she only nodded. What's with him becoming all whiny to suggestive in 0.1 milliseconds?

"You won't." She managed to speak, and she felt him smile and his shoulders shook, telling her that he was laughing.

"Perhaps."

"Wha—Hanako-kun!"

"I kid, I kid!"

"Hey, I wanna hug Nene too!" Tsukasa joined in the fun, sneakily trying to push his brother away while Nene wasn't looking.

"So Nene… who do you think won?"

"Huh?" She was met with two sets of golden eyes watching her intently, waiting for her answer. Honestly she wasn't really paying attention the whole time, as she was too concerned about their well-being to care about who won or not.

"Um… I'm not sure. It's a draw, I guess." The twins groaned and she could just smile apologetically at them, patting their heads.

"Senpai! I've got some watermelon here!" Kou called out to them, lifting up a big watermelon under his arm and a long stick with his other hand. The sun was also setting in the boundary, meaning the day was close to ending soon.

"Oh, let's break it!"

"Here's a blindfold, Senpai!"

A couple of supernaturals gathered around Nene, who was now blindfolded, as she got ready to hit the watermelon on the ground. "Okay, here it goes!" Let's just hope I don't end up hitting anyone again like last time.

"Go left! Left!"

"Go right!"

"No, you gotta go forward!"

Hanako stifled a laugh when Nene tripped a little, grasping on her makeshift weapon as she wobbled around trying to find the watermelon. Kou walked up beside him, arms crossed and looking at him suspiciously.

"You've been acting weird lately." He began, confirming his suspicions when Hanako sighed and turned to him with a "yep, guilty as charged" kind of look.

"What gave it away?"

"Everything. And that Tsukasa's been on it too. You guys are weird, but never this weird."

"Aww, you think I'm weird?" Unexpectedly Tsukasa jumped in between them, all smiles.

Kou distanced himself away from the younger twin before continuing, "Care to tell me what's going on with you two? You've been bothering Senpai a lot more than usual."

"Well, that's—" A hand smacked Hanako on the face and he staggered on the sand when Tsukasa began to climb onto his shoulders.

"Amane, let's go over there a sec!" Tsukasa tugged on his brother's hair, (a/n: why did this remind me of ratatouille for some reason) trying to move his body to the direction he wanted.

"Ow—Tsukasa, stop pulling on my hair, ow!!" Hanako struggled to stand, let alone float, but he managed to move to a spot where no one else was. He plucked Tsukasa off and set him back down on the sand in front of him.

"What was that for?!"

"You like Nene, don't you Amane?" The sudden question caught the older twin off guard. What in the world was he up to this time?

"Of course I do… she's my assistant. If you're talking about that kind of like… then no." He replied as casually as he can, hoping that he didn't falter against Tsukasa's intense stare.

Tsukasa went on to stare at him unblinkingly for a few more seconds before putting on a big "I am up to no good" smile. At that time, that bad feeling began to creep up into his system.

At that time, Hanako felt like one of his worst fears came true.

"...you don't mean…" He didn't even need to continue, as the younger twin broke into a laugh and excitedly put his hands up in the air like a little kid.

"Yep! It's exactly what you think it is!" It seemed like Tsukasa was relishing the horrified reaction Hanako was giving him.

"Nene's so nice, and she's always so good to me. I can see why you like her so much, Amane. So you won't mind, right?"

It felt like he was taunting him right now with that innocent face that was anything but innocent.

Hanako remained quiet, but inside, he was quaking with… rage? fear? He didn't know, but all he knew was that he didn't like where this was heading.

Even Tsukasa easily saw through his lie earlier, now he knew. It was no use trying to hide it now.

"I guess you got yourself a rival, then." He glared at Tsukasa just as intensely.

"A rival? Ooh… that'll be fun. Looking forward to it, big brother!"

Cheering interrupted the staring contest the twins were having, making them look back to the crowd. The watermelon on the ground had now been split open, Nene taking her blindfold off.

"Alright! I did it!"

"Way to go, Senpai!"

"Mm-hm! I didn't hit anyone this time!" Nene put down her stick, looking around the beach. "Where's Hanako-kun and Tsukasa-kun?"

As if on cue, Hanako appeared by her side, observing the split watermelon. "Wow, you did a great job, Yashiro. I'm impressed!"

"You think so?" Nene smiled shyly, and Hanako nodded, patting her head.

"Of course."

"Ooh, it looks like it's brains got blown apart! Nene's so strong!" Tsukasa grabbed a piece of the fruit and scarfed it down hungrily. "Tasty!!"

"Hey! Don't just eat the watermelon by yourself!" Kou shouted angrily, smacking him on the head.

Nene could just smile at her friends' antics, as she watched the sun slowly set by the ocean. Today was a really strange vacation, but she admit, it was rather fun.

Although she couldn't help but get the feeling something weird was about to happen sooner or later.

Oh well. It was probably just her imagination.
