From the Journal of Marcy Wu

Summary:

A series of excerpts, in no particular order, from the journal of Marcy Jin Wu. A normal middle schooler with two cool friends, who finds herself suddenly transported to a world full of Newts (and also Frogs and Toads). Chronicles her ups and downs, even before she arrives in Amphibia. Of course, she also has plenty to say about her new home once she arrives.

Canon Compliant through the ending of Season 2A. Will fill in some gaps with headcanons, but probably won’t be trying to answer big plot questions.

Notes:

The images of Anne and Sasha are edited versions of stills from the show. All other art is my own work. As a general rule I’ll be using edited show art for detailed individuals, and do the doodles on my own. Obviously I do not own the art or the characters.

Chapter 1: My Best Friends (Non-Canon)

Anyway, I’m back! Hopefully this one struck a nice balance between keeping Marcy dangerously oblivious while also keeping her likable.

Soooo…canon is/as gonna run through a lot of what I’ve written like a truck! That’s fun! Gives me a change to revisit some stuff. Here’s an edit of the first chapter, which only had some minor changes (what age Marcy met Sasha, and where in California the girls lived).

Let me know how you think the best way to order them is. I don’t want to confuse anyone by having the new chapters be in the middle, but I also don’t want new readers reading old stuff.

The image came from Google image searching “warrior woman clipart” and scrolling until I found one that worked for me. I made some edits to the nose and mouth to make it fit more.

One of the challenges in making this series is avoiding becoming over-reliant on foreshadowing events from the show. Some dramatic irony is fine, but I also didn’t want this fic to become merely an exercise in going “ha ha she doesn’t know she’s gonna get stabbed.”

Sequel to Yesterday’s Chapter. Continuing on the trend of Marcy and games. The runes got a little squished, I’ll post the translation in the comment section below.

As most of you are no doubt aware, we are getting an official Marcy Journal! Matt Braly, Disney, and TOKYOPOP are collaborating to make a real, physical version of Marcy’s work in Amphibia. Details are TBA at the moment.

Obviously this will eventually render this fic somewhat moot. But I cannot wait to buy a copy and see what the minds behind the show have thought up with this same idea! Until that point I’ll keep updating this fic!

For those of you who don’t know Bibsy is this derpy looking rabbit that became a meme among the Amphibia crew, and has worked its way into a few episodes. This is my tribute.

In addition, we got some updates about the Marcy Journal Adam Colas and Matt Braly are making, namely how it will be broken down into thirds.
