Chapter 1: A Tutor?

Chapter Text

The garage currently occupied by Narancia, Mista, Giorno, Trish, and all their band equipment, was starting to get colder as that Monday faded into evening. Narancia slouched in his chair and sighed. Mista put his bass down and walked over to the boy with the orange headband.

“Hey Narancia, are you alright? You’ve been pretty quiet today, which is totally unlike you,” Mista questioned.

“My grades are bad Mista, like really bad. Bucciarati is pretty upset with me. He says I have to get a tutor,” Narancia answered.

Mista rolled his eyes. “Narancia, Bucciarati isn’t your actual mother, who cares about grades anyway?”

“Easy for you to say, you already graduated. Even though your grades were shit, you got through it. I’m failing two classes, and if I don’t bring those grades up the school said I might not graduate. I don’t want to go to high school for another year!” Narancia upsettably rambled.

At this point Giorno and Trish stopped their conversation and walked over to the other two boys. “You need a tutor?” Giorno asked.

“Yes yes! Giorno, you’re smart! Are you going to tutor me?” Narancia asked excitedly while bouncing in his chair.

“Actually, it’s not me. I know this other guy. He’s a good tutor. He helped Trish with math not long ago, and her grades are much better,” Giorno said.

Trish chimed in, “Ohh, you mean Pannacotta Fugo! Yeah, he’s super smart. Even though he’s a 3rd year he’s doing college work already.”

Narancia cringed at the thought of a random 3rd year tutoring him, since he was a 4th year himself. But then he signed and obliged, “Fine Giorno, set me up with this Fugo guy. I’ll do anything to graduate this year. I’m so over school.”

Giorno smiled and picked up his phone to text Fugo about the student he’d be tutoring. After that, Mista called everyone over to their instruments so they could practice one of their official band songs. Narancia hopped on his drum set, Mista picked up his bass, Giorno got his electric guitar ready, and Trish picked up her microphone and they began to play Trish’s song called “Love Electricity.” Narancia still felt a bit bummed that soon he would be using quality free time to get tutored by some big-headed guy, but he tried to hide his disappointment for the sake of his friends. Everyone kept their energy up during the song and they ended in excitement.

After the song ended, they all high fived. Giorno felt his phone buzz and picked it out of his pocket. He informed Narancia on what was sent to him, “Fugo said he can start tomorrow. Just meet him in the library after school.”

Narancia felt a bit nervous and replied, “Giorno, I don’t even know what this guy looks like. How am I supposed to find him? And tomorrow already? Shit, I get no time to prepare.”

Trish answered before Giorno could, “You can’t miss him. He’s got blonde hair, it’s kind of like a mullet. And he wears this green suit with a bunch of holes in it.”

“Holes? This guy sounds super weird,” Narancia replied.

Mista laughed, “Hey, you can’t judge him! Mr. orange headband and orange plaid skirt.”

Narancia growled at his friend, “Shut up tiger striped pants man!”

Giorno continued talking before Mista and Narancia could fight, “Narancia, I can bring you to the library and introduce you to Fugo if you’re nervous.”

Narancia blushed, “Nervous? Psh, please! I’m not nervous meeting some random guy who thinks he’s all that because he’s smart. I’ll meet this Fugo guy myself.”

Giorno smiled, “Okay Narancia, I believe in you.”

Mista brought up a new subject, “Hey Narancia, are you ever going to bring us a song you’ve written youself? We always play Trish’s songs, we’ve played 3 of Giorno’s songs, and we’ve played 2 of mine. Don’t you want to contribute as well? C’mon man, it feels pretty damn good to perform your own song.”

Narancia answered Mista, “I’m still thinking about it. Sorry guys, I know I say that like every week, but I want my song to be perfect!”

Trish replied, “It’s okay Narancia. Don’t rush it. Perfection takes time, I should know.” Trish then flipped her hair and Giorno rolled his eyes.

The cold started to get to everyone, so they all agreed to pack up their instruments and call it a night.

That night, before Narancia went to bed he looked over some of his math notes so he would be more prepared for his study date with this Fugo guy. He started getting sleepy after about 20 minutes of looking over notes and decided to get some sleep. Narancia had no idea what he was getting himself into.
