Chapter Text
In a surprising turn of events, Bakugo and Todoroki have been dating for two years and they've been public for one and a half. Except nobody knows they're public. Or, to be more accurate, nobody believes that they're together. To be completely fair to the couple, they tried telling their classmates about their relationship. Bakugo randomly announced it to the Bakusquad when they were in Denki's room playing Sonic Races. Instead of the shocked congratulations and the many complaints about being single he was expecting, they all laughed wildly. As if Bakugo told some crazy hilarious joke.
It pissed him off. It wasn't funny! He was in an actual serious relationship, goddammit!
"Man," Denki finally said, wiping away tears of laughter, "I didn't know you told jokes, Bakubro!"
This... took the explosive blond by surprise. He paused, staring at Denki as if he had grown two heads. "I'm not joking."
"Yeah, sure man. You and Todoroki dating is like Denki having a cohesive thought. Impossible," Sero laughed, earning an indignant noise from Denki. The squad laughed again and went right back to arguing over whose turn it was to have the controllers. While he was still reeling over the strange reaction, Bakugo Katsuki came to an unsurprising conclusion...
His so-called friends were truly idiots.
---
Telling Todoroki's group of friends also went about as well. They all just...didn't believe him.
"Todoroki, I think you've been spending too much time in Sero's room," Uraraka giggled. She poked his head with her finger. "Maybe all the fumes are finally getting to you!"
"Besides," Midoriya chirped from the other side of the table, "I doubt Kacchan has enough patience to even entertain the idea of a romantic relationship. I think you need to work on your jokes, Todoroki."
Todoroki stared blankly. "I'm not joking."
"Puh-lease. You expect us to believe that Mr. I'm-going-to-explodo-kill-you-all is in a relationship with your dense ass?" Uraraka snorted.
"I am not dense," Todoroki frowned, frankly insulted at the insinuation.
"Yeah, sure. Ok." Uraraka snickered again. Todoroki's frown deepened.
"Uraraka! Please refrain from insulting our friends!" Iida yelled, waving his arms around. It just caused Uraraka to laugh harder.
"I think what Uraraka is trying to say," Midoriya said, elbowing Uraraka in the side, successfully shoving her over, "is that you are very blunt sometimes and insult people unintentionally, and Kacchan is especially sensitive with that kinda thing."
Todoroki thought for a moment. He guessed that was true, considering how many times Bakugo had told him to "get a damn brain to mouth filter, dumbass." He shrugged, conceding to Midoriya's point.
"Ok, fair. I'm still dating Bakugo though."
They laughed again.
----
A year and a half later, nothing had changed about the class’s knowledge of Bakugo and Todoroki’s relationship. They had given up on being upset about the whole thing and now the pair just found it amusing. It became almost like a game to see who would recognize that the dating announcement The person who had come the closest to actually figuring it out was actually Dunce Face after he walked in on them kissing in the kitchen late one night (don’t ask). Instead of putting two and two together, he chuckled something about ‘sticking to the bit’ and walked past them to grab a bag of Doritos, covered in string worms.
That was eye-opening for a lot of reasons.
Bakugo 'tched at the memory. Dumbasses.
“Bakugo,” Aizawa called his name from the front of the class. Bakugo looked up. “Do you have something to share with the rest of the class?”
“No, sir.”
“Then I suggest you quit talking.”
Bakugo huffed and sank down deeper into his chair. He made eye contact with his boyfriend at the back of the room, who was giving him puppy eyes. Bakugo stuck his tongue out at him and turned back around.
Sap.
He heard Todoroki quietly laugh from behind him and fought the urge to blast himself over there and punch his dumb boyfriend. (With his lips. It was utterly ridiculous.)
Lunch was the normal shit show that it was. Mina and Denki wolf-whistling anytime anyone remotely attractive walked by their table while Kirishima tried to get them to calm down and stop harassing other students. Sero was talking very loudly on the phone with someone (Bakugo guessed it was his sister). Bakugo rolled his eyes at the chaos around him, trying to eat his food in peace.
"Hey, Bakubro! Did you cook that yourself or was this more of a 'me' day?" Kirishima asked, actively holding Denki's arm so that he was sitting down in his seat instead of chasing after Shinsou.
"Made it myself."
"Whoever gets you is going to have a good housewife!" Denki cackled.
"Shut up, Pikachu!"
"What about Bakugo and housewives?" Bakugo looked up behind him to find Todoroki standing there.
"Oh, hey Todoroki! We're talking about how Bakugo would make a good housewife!" Denki said again, very obviously asking to be blown up at this point. Todoroki seemed to contemplate this for a moment.
"I think he would too."
"Traitor," Bakugo hissed under his breath.
Todoroki smiled. "May I sit here?"
Mina laughed. "Of course!"
Bakugo rolled his eyes but moved over to let Todoroki sit next to him. Todoroki slid onto the bench, then wrapped an arm around Bakugo's waist. When Bakugo raised an eyebrow at him, the taller boy shrugged. Bakugo clicked his tongue.
"So, why'd you come over here Todoroki?"
"Thought I'd check on Bakugo. Maybe steal some food."
"You can fuckin' try, Half n' Half," Bakugo snarled.
"That's not very manly, Bakubro," Kirishima teased.
"He's been stealing enough of my dinner, he doesn't need to steal my lunch too." Bakugo side-eyed Todoroki, whose expression had become incredibly smug.
"Blasty lets you steal his dinner!? What, is he in love with you or something?" Mina gawked.
"Yes," both boyfriends deadpanned at the same time, earning a laugh from the table.
"But really though, how do you steal some without dying?" Denki leaned in.
Bakugo facepalmed. "Don't answer him."
"Don't listen to him! Tell me your secrets!" Todoroki blinked at Denki. Then he said the dumbest shit that Bakugo has ever heard.
"I let him win when we spar."
Bakugo tilted his head up at his boyfriend to glare at him. "You motherfucker," he hissed.
Todoroki gave his best stone face but Bakugo could see the amusement behind his eyes. So the blond did what any good boyfriend would do. He punched Todoroki in the chest.
Bakugo relished in the wheezing that came from Todoroki as he doubled over to try and catch his breath. Bakugo ignored the yells of concern from his table to smirk at the bi-colored boy. He got a middle finger in return.
Serves him right.
------
"Katsukiiiiiiii," Todoroki whined.
"No." Bakugo felt Todoroki's head rest on his shoulder.
"This is unfair. As the love of your life, I should be able to have some of your food."
"This is your punishment for insulting me earlier."
"Kaaaaats."
"Whaaaaat?"
"You're ok with just letting me starve?"
"There are plenty of leftovers and instant meals. You won't starve." Todoroki grumbled into Bakugo's neck something about how cruel letting him starve was then pulled away, still keeping an arm around his waist. Bakugo snorted.
"Todoroki? Kacchan? What are you two doing down here?" Midoriya asked, walking into the kitchen. Todoroki's arm dropped from Bakugo's waist.
"Cooking," Bakugo grumbled.
"Ah. And what about you, Todoroki?" Midoriya stared expectantly at Todoroki. Todoroki paused for a moment.
"Trying to get dinner." Bakugo kicked him in the shin.
"Is Bakugo making some for you?"
"Why? Do you want his share?" Bakugo asked, pouring chopped vegetables into a pan.
"O-oh! Well, I don't want to steal from Todoroki if you are making some for him! I was just curious! Although, I wonder what Todoroki did to get Kacchan to make dinner for him? Did they fight and Kacchan lost a bet? Or Todoroki has some secret knowledge about Kacchan? Or-"
"Quit muttering, jeez. I just asked if you wanted food, damn nerd."
"Sorry! And yes, some food would be nice." Bakugo hummed in acknowledgment.
"Midoriya, you traitor," Todoroki said, accusingly. He glared at the shorter boy.
"Oi, Icyhot. Don't you have sparring soon?" Bakugo loudly, pushing Todoroki out of the kitchen. Todoroki turned to glare at Midoriya one more time before finally walking away.
"What? What did I do?" Midoriya squeaked, suddenly feeling so much smaller than he had previously.
"Ignore him. He's just pouty."
"Ok..." Midoriya said, still feeling mildly threatened. He also felt like he was missing something. "I am wondering though. Why were you making food for Todoroki in the first place?"
"Ever since we started dating, he's been stealing my food. I just started making an extra portion at some point."
Midoriya laughed. "Wow, has Todoroki gotten you in on his joke? It's been like a year."
"A year and a half actually." Bakugo set a plate of food in front of Midoriya. The green hair boy immediately forgot what he was talking about as Bakugo handed him chopsticks.
"Thank you for the food!"
"Whatever, nerd."
