To be on a date
Chapter 1
“Nanami! Haibara!” Exclaimed (f/n) entering the classroom with a magazine in her hands.
“Good morning, (l/n).” Greeted Nanami Kento, wondering where such energy came from at that time of morning.
“Ah! Morning!” Said the only first-year girl, embarrassed for having forgotten to greet her colleagues.
“G’morning (f/n)-chan!” Answered Haibara Yu laughing. “What is the reason for the animation?”
“You know, yesterday, I went to the city with Shoko-senpai just to keep company, and while she was searching for a medical book, I saw this…” Said (f/n) putting a magazine on the table.
The two boys stared at the page that the girl had opened.
“Uhhh...let's see...if you're a Leo…”
“What? No, the other page, Haibara. By the way, my horoscope says I'm really lucky today!”
“Do you really believe in these kind of things, (l/n)?” Asked Kento, arching an eyebrow.
“It's not a matter of believing or not believing. I just read it for fun. Wanna see what your horoscope says?”
“No, thank you.”
“Woah!” Shouted the other boy suddenly, drawing Nanami and (f/n)’s attention. “Canaria-san! Did she open a coffee shop?!
“Canaria...who's that?”
“Ehhh? Have you never heard of her, Nanami?” Exclaimed Yu and (f/n) at the same time.
“Is she famous?”
“Kanashiro Riya, or just Canaria. She was the winner of this season's 'Master Cake'!" Replied the (l/n) excited. “Her sweets were so beautiful, and they looked so delicious!”
“Master cake…”
“Please, Nanami, say that you at least know the show.” Haibara pleaded, interrupting his friend. “Otherwise, we will have to go and rescue you from under the rock that you had been living.”
“As far as I know I am your room neighbor, Haibara. Unless we live under the same rock." Said the blond, a vein of irritation jumping on his forehead. “And I know what the show is, I just never watched it. Besides, I prefer bread over cakes.”
“Ah, but she also makes bread!” Said (f/n) pointing to the menu in the magazine that had been forgotten until then. “She makes cakes, breads, cupcakes, donuts, and all kinds of sweets that you can imagine! And according to this article she is learning to be a barista too!”
“And what exactly does this have to do with us?” Asked Nanami.
“We…” (F/n) pointed to each one of them. “...should go to her store this weekend."
"I refuse." Said Kento immediately.
“What?! Why Nanami?!” Exclaimed the girl. “I know very well that none of us will be on mission, at least we have none so far.”
“Since we won’t be on a mission, we should rest.”
“Going out for a little walk is a way of rest, Nanami!” Said Haibara. “By the way, I'm in!”
(F/n) and Yu high-fived, before turning abruptly to the blond boy, who tried his best to ignore his friends who were staring at him with puppy’s eyes.
“Nanami, please!” Begged (f/n).
“It's not always that we can go out together, Nanami!” Yu commented.
“And there will be bread! Bread!”
“Yes!!! Bread!!!”
“...”
“Nanami!!! Please!!!”
“...we are going to waste a lot of time in line…” Murmured the blonde, making the other two jump with joy.
“I don’t think so, the store has actually been open for over a month, but we have been training and going on so many missions lately, that only yesterday when I saw this magazine that I found out that Canaria-san had opened a store.” The girl commented. “The store may be full, but I don't think we'll be left out.”
And then, Nanami Kento sighed. (L/n) and Haibara had won.
“...Okay.”
“Yaaayyyy!” Exclaimed the two.
“Oh~ The first years are very excited today~”
The three immediately looked towards the door, only to see one of the sophomores standing at the entrance to the room watching them.
“Gojo-senpai! Good morning!” Haibara was the first to greet him. “Do you need something?”
“No, no.” Satoru replied. “I was just wondering the reason for the animation. I heard you cheering from the hall, so I came to see what was going on.”
“Ah, Senpai! You…”
(F/n)’s (e/c) eyes met Nanami's brown eyes, they knew exactly what Haibara Yu would say to the other guy, so as if it were a combined act, both, in the blink of an eye, were beside Haibara, who had his mouth covered by the hands of Kento and (f/n).
“...what are you doing...?" Satoru asked while grinning.
“Nothing!” They said in sync, while Yu just stared at his friends.
“I don't think ‘nothing’ is the word that describes this situation.” Commented Gojo, lowering his sunglasses a little. “What are you hiding? (F/n)? Nanami?”
“Ahhh!” Shouted (f/n) suddenly, causing all the boys in the room to stare at her. “I just remembered that we should meet Utahime-san on the stairs of Jujutsu Tech!” There was something in the fake smile of Gojo Satoru that made her want to get out of there as soon as possible. Nothing good came from the guy when he had such a smile on his lips.
Nanami did not like to lie, usually he would just ignore his veteran, but as much as he trusted that the (l/n) could ignore Gojo (at least until a teacher showed up), he doubted Haibara would keep his mouth shut if the sophomore started to ask questions again. For that reason, and only that one, he would accompany the girl in that lame excuse.
“You are right (l/n).” Kento said while looking at his watch.
“Ehhh…what's the problem of being a little late?” Asked the white-haired boy.
“Some people value punctuality, Satoru.” Retorted (f/n), realizing that Nanami for some reason had turned his head to face her and raised an eyebrow, as if he were questioning her. About what, she didn't know.
“I'm sure Utahime being the great senpai she is, would not mind if you three are a little bit late~” Hummed the oldest of the group, that smile never leaving his lips.
“She would mind, Gojo-san.” Commented Nanami starting to pull Yu by the arm, being followed by (f/n) who was still covering the mouth of the other boy. “Now excuse us.”
“Hey hey, won't you answer me?!” Asked Satoru as he watched his kohais walking away.
"Sorryyy, we're gonna be late!" Exclaimed the only girl.
And as soon as the trio turned the hall and disappeared from Gojo's line of sight, he immediately started to face the empty room, his eyes resting on an object that had been forgotten on the table.
…
“That really scared me! I thought we wouldn’t be able to escape this.” Commented (f/n), as soon as she and the other two guys were in the gardens of Jujutsu Tech.
“Really...that was close call.” Said Nanami, looking at the Haibara who was staring at them, confusion on his face.
“Errr...did I said something wrong..?” Yu asked worried.
“Almost.” Replied his friends.
“Haibara.” Said (f/n) placing her hands on the boy's shoulders. “No matter what, you can't say anything about our plans to Satoru, understand?”
“I can’t?!”
“No! This outing is something…” The girl paused for a moment, she needed a good excuse to convince her friend.
"It's a class trip," Kento added, sighing.
“Right! It's a secret class trip! So you can't say anything to anyone! Understood?”
“A...secret class trip?!” The animation in Haibara's voice was almost palpable, and for an instant, just an instant, (f/n) felt bad about lying to the naive boy. “Understood! I won't say anything! You can rest assured!”
And in the next instant, Yu started walking towards the stairs of Jujutsu Tech, mumbling about the things they could do besides going to the Canaria’s coffee shop. A little further back, Nanami and (l/n) followed him, keeping their conversation as low as possible.
“You know..I really feel bad for lying to Haibara…” Said the girl.
“Unless you want Gojo-san to accompany us, that was the best way to keep Haibara quiet.” Replied Kento.
“I know…” (F/n) sighing. “If Satoru came with us, we would be dragged all over Tokyo, we would enter other coffee stores, and in the end we would not be able to eat or even go to our main goal...he is the ‘my pace’ type of person after all.”
“(L/n)...”
“Yeah?”
“...you…”
“Hey! You two!” Shouted Yu from the stairs of Jujutsu Tech, interrupting the conversation of his friends. “Utahime-san isn't here yet!”
Kento and (f/n) stared at each other for a few moments, before the girl spoke.
“So...how do we tell him that Utahime-san won’t come?”
…
“What do you think of this?!” Exclaimed Satoru placing a magazine on the table, making Shoko and Suguru stare at him for a moment before looking at the object in question.
“Are you reading the horoscope? Since when do you do that?” Asked Geto, arching an eyebrow.
“Well, let's see…” Shoko said, holding the magazine. “...according to my horoscope, today is a good day for me to dedicate myself to my studies...and that I must be careful when making decisions. Good. Do you want me to read yours too, Geto?”
“No!” Gojo said, taking the magazine back and pointing to the article about the Canaria’s shop. “I'm talking about this!”
“Kanashiro Riya, the winner of the Master Cake?” Asked Suguru. “What about her store?”
“Do you want to go eat the sweets from this store now, Gojo?” Asked Shoko, while reading the available menu. “Look, it says here that she makes one of the best chocolate pies in Tokyo.”
"That's not it!" Said the white-haired boy, frowning.
“What? No?! Exclaimed the other two. “Don't you want to eat sweets?! Are you sick?!”
“NO! I’m not sick, and yes I want the sweets too, but that's not the point here! (F/n) was reading this magazine with Nanami and Haibara.”
“Ah! That's why I thought that the magazine was familiar.” Commented Ieiri. “I saw (f/n) buying it yesterday when we went to the bookstore.”
“By the way, why are you with the magazine, Satoru?” Suguru asked suspiciously.
“...” Gojo huffed, irritation plastered on his face. “...they left it in the classroom after saying they needed to meet Utahime...liars…”
“AND...?”
“And I think they're planning to go to that store.”
“Again. AND what does that have to do with you? Or with us?” Geto asked.
“They are not going to invite us!”
Shoko and Suguru stared at their friend for a second, before rolling their eyes and going back to the conversation they were having before Satoru arrived.
“Are you gonna ignore me?!”
“Yes.” They replied in unison.
“Satoru, they do not need to invite you, or any of us every time they go for a walk.” Said Geto sighing. “Sometimes they want to do something just between them.”
“And it's not like they or we could go out and do what we want all the time.” Said Shoko. “We barely have time to be high school students, do you remember the last time we had a math class?”
“In addition, we are on missions a good part of the time, and to be honest…” Suguru's eyes got serious. “...we are not even sure if we will return from the missions. So it's normal for them to want to go out with their own classmates when they have some free time.”
Satoru stared at his friends, they were right, he understood that, yet something was bothering him, but he just couldn't say exactly what.
"Even so..." He murmured, making the other two think about how childish and selfish Gojo could be when he wanted to.
“Just leave them alone.” Said Suguru at last. “They don't have to deal with your bullshit outside of Jujutsu Tech too.”
“And it's not like you could invite yourself or stalk them.” Said Shoko taking the magazine from Satoru's hands, who seemed to have some idea.
Stalk them?
This was not exactly a bad idea. And it wasn't like he had a mission or something better to do.
A smile appeared on Gojo's face, and immediately Geto, who continued to pay attention to his best friend, realized that an (awful) idea was forming in the sorcerer's head.
“Satoru, whatever you are thinking...No!”
“What? I was just thinking how good it would be to go out with you and Shoko~.”
Suguru sighed. Why did he insist on being friends with Gojo Satoru again?
