Eret looked around their fortress, content with the progress they and Foolish have made with the Blood Vines. They sighed and started putting their tools away in one of the Chets.
“You know, Eret?” Eret looked up at the sound of Foolish’s voice. “This egg cleaning, it kinda reminds me of you and me back in the day cleaning up that mess from the Wither cult.”
Eret froze, turning to look at Foolish. “What?”
“What do you mean?” Foolish asked.
Eret looked at him, “Are- are you thinking of a different person or?”
Foolish looked at Eret, almost confused. “Nope, you Eret, one with the glasses, one with the netherite armor.”
Eret just stared at Foolish, causing him to continue,”I mean, it was a while ago I suppose. You don't know what I’m talking about?”
Eret shook their head “I’m sorry I have no idea
“Really?” Foolish asked, “Wither cult, doesn’t ring a bell?”
“I’m pretty sure I would remember something called a Wither cult.” Eret would have almost been able to laugh if it wasn’t for how genuine Foolish sounded.
“Okay,” Foolish paced around a little bit, murmuring to himself “That's kinda weird you don't remember that?” Foolish turned to look at Eret “What about that time we went on a little adventure in the mountain? When we fought off those trolls?” Foolish asked
“You have to be talking about something else, I’ve been here for months.” Eret was starting to worry about Foolish, he wasn’t making any sense.
Foolish interrupted, “I do agree you’ve been here for months! But you’ve been elsewhere, Eret.” Foolish looked for some kind of answer from Eret, who just shook their head. “Nothing?” He finally asked.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about” Foolish took a step closer to Eret, almost inspecting them.
“No, no it’s you! It’s Eret, your Eret. You’re my guy!” Foolish finally took a step back from Eret.
Eret took a deep breath and looked towards Foolish, “Okay, Have I shown you my eyes before?”
Only three people on the server had seen Erets eyes, and two they didn’t even want to show them. Anytime he showed someone their eyes, there was almost always an immediate reaction, and none ever good. WIth screams and insults behind their back, let's say that showing their eyes has never been a pleasant experience.
Foolish looked at them, seeming to be thinking. “Uh, No, trust me I know what your eyes look like Eret!” Eret just stared at Foolish in confusion. “Feel free to take off your sunglasses!”
Eret shook their head, they swore they have never shown Foolish their eyes. “Okay, just to double check that you are talking about the right person.” Eret sighed. “So, Sunglasses. I wear them to hide,” Eret paused.
Foolish added on, “Oh yeah I was gonna say, the sunglasses are a bit of a new look for you I think.”
Eret sighed, and quickly pulled off their sunglasses, looking to Foolish for any response.
Foolish nodded quickly, confirming that he had seen them.
“You're not scared?” Eret asked. Being completely honest, they expect a different reaction. They almost hoped that Foolish’s reaction would have been different, just so they would know if Foolish was actually talking about them.
Foolish shook his head, “No! I think that's the Eret I’m thinking of actually!” After a bit of silence he asked, “Nothing?”
Eret put their sunglasses on again, “Foolish I know nothing. I know absolutely nothing, I’m so lost.”
Foolish stared at them, “Well I’m lost too! I’m just as confused as you are!”
Eret looked at him, “I mean, is there something you know and I don't?”
Foolish thought for a bit, “You know,it could just be the egg, messing with your head.”
Eret shook their head, “Maybe.” They didn’t think it was the egg.
“You should just get some sleep, we can talk about this another time.” Foolish smiled and lightly shoved Eret shoulder, “We’ll catch up old pal!”
Old Pal? Eret has only known Foolish for a few months.
Right?
Eret nodded, “Yeah, yeah.” They tried to find words but couldn’t think of what to say.
Foolish’s smile disappeared, “Nothing?” He asked again.
Eret shook their head, “Nothing,” They thought for a second, “But, maybe there's a reason I hit it off with you so quickly.” They sighed. “I don’t know, I think there's stuff I need to learn about myself as well.”
Foolish nodded quickly, “Yeah. Well, you go get some sleep! There's some other matters I have to tend to, Kingdoms Rising and stuff.” Eret Nodded, “That was nice though! Getting rid of some of the egg!”
Eret nodded, smiling. “Yeah we did some good work. We’ll get some more people together and get rid of this once and for all.”
Foolish nodded, smiling. “Yeah! I’ll see you around, you know where to find me. But definitely get some sleep, old pal!”
There it is again, Foolish calling Eret an old pal.
“I’ll see you later, goodnight.” Eret called out to Foolish.
What the fuck just happened.
Eret stood there in their fortress for a minute, thinking over their and Foolish’s conversation.
As they slowly made their way back to the castle, Eret wondered if maybe Foolish was right, that the two did in fact go on adventures together and Eret simply can't remember.
Eret sighed, deciding that they’ll figure this all out later, right now they need to take Foolish’s advice and get some rest.
