Work Text:

Midoriya Izuku was the only one who could even get close to taming the beast of a man, Bakugou Katsuki.

Soon after their first year in High School, the two finally replenished their friendship. Bakugou apologized for all the hell he put Izuku through and went to therapy. Both being victims of the messed up society for all those years, they never realized how messed up they were and both felt an imaginary weight lifted off their shoulders as they were able to joke around and have civil conversations.

After their third year of high school, Izuku had made the decision to go to America for a few years.

“Promise me that you’ll be one of the best by the time I come back, Katsuki.”

“You already know I will be, so why promise, Izuku? Doubting me?”

The greenette chuckles and shakes his head slightly, “No… No, not at all. I just wouldn’t want to be friends with someone who’s… what’s the word? Oh, I got it!” He smirks as his head tilts to the side, “Weak.”

Midoriya Izuku, the 22-year-old adult, now stands outside of the agency dubbed, Ground Zero, in a casual business suit due to the meetings he had earlier in the day. Three years and a few months later, he decided it’s time for him to finally come back to his homeland in Musutafu, Japan.

---

He opens the door to the big building that he was standing in front of for a good… five minutes.

He’s a bit anxious coming back here. Yes, he’s more confident in himself but as long as he’s known the blonde bastard, he can be complicated at times.

Mysterious? Confusing? Just plain surprising? Yes, all words that fit the bill.

But all that anxiety goes out the door as the cool air hits him, blowing through his hair and brushing against his skin, he feels a grin growing on his face: How can he make his return worth it? He wonders as he approaches the desk, “Excuse me?”

The receptionist looks up from their computer, “Yes how may I- Oh wow.” She says as her face floods with red. Izuku looks her in the eye and smiles, “Well… ‘Ground Zero’ here- god it’s so weird not calling him Kacchan- Is an old friend of mine and I was wondering if you could take me to him?”

She shakes her head, and wipes the drool from her mouth, “Um… well I can’t.”

Izuku frowns, “You can’t?” She nods, “Ground Zero said that if we could finish working in an hour we can go home early. And I have a husband…” She says sheepishly. Izuku snorts, “He lets you guys get off early?” The girl nods vigorously, “Yep! He does it rarely so I wanna use it to my advantage.”

Izuku hums thoughtfully, then smirks, “I promise you can get off of work right now if you just take me to him. If he doesn’t I’ll just have to beat him until he does.” She laughs but then looks at him skeptically, “How are you so bold? Ground Zero only has Red Riot and a few others who visit him weekly. You’re a totally new player in the game. What can you do to prove it to me?”

Izuku laughs genuinely, “Oh trust me! I’ve been dealing with the blonde for years!” His carefree expression turns serious, “Plus, He promised me something and so did I-”

“When are you coming back?”

“In three to four years. So, you’ve got time.” He smiles, “I promise I’ll return.” Katsuki rolls his eyes, “You fucking better.”

“ -and I’m here to show him I didn’t break mine.”

She sees the look on his face and just feels it in her bones, ‘Just take him to Boss. If I get fired, he owes me a date.’ She sighs as she rolls back in her chair then stands, “Fine. But if I get fired, you owe me.”

He shakes his head and stuffs his hands in his pocket as the lady begins to walk and he follows, “I won’t owe you a damn thing. You’ll see.”

---

Katsuki has had quite the day. When he’s faced with handling some paperwork, unnecessary amount of phone calls from the Extras, Mina, Kirishima, and Kaminari, and other bullshit he’s had to face today, it’s lead him to be just tired.

He’s been sitting at this damned desk for hours in deep concentration. He wanted no interruptions so when he assigned his workers an early day off. He only did so, for the fact they would be working so hard they wouldn’t bother the guy.

How do you think he felt when he heard the doors that lead to his office begin to open? Pretty fucking furious. So he growled when the door opened slightly as one of his newest workers, Yui, poked her head in.

“Fuck do you want?” She chuckled as she remembered that on their way up, Izuku bet that he’d say that exact thing, “You have someone here to see you.” Katsuki raises an eyebrow in confusion, “I don’t remember having a meeting with any other extra at this time.”

(Mind you that yes, the blonde did change over the years but one thing that didn’t was his vocabulary and just normally loud personality that he had gotten from his mother).

“Yes, I know but-”

The door flies open revealing someone he hasn’t seen in oh so long, “But Kacchan, I booked this one three years ago.” The greenette fakes a pout, “Or did you forget after you started to slack off?”

Katsuki’s eyes grew wider, then he grins, slamming his hands on the as he stands from his chair, “Fina-fucking-ly! You’ve decided to return, you freckled-face bastard!” Izuku laughs, “Oh did the Ground Zero miss little ol’ me? I’m truly flattered.”

Yui watches in awe as she never saw her boss interact like this, “Piss off! I thought you were forgetting that damn promise you made back in U.A” Izuku shakes his head as he steps in the room, “Now that isn’t possible. I’d never make a promise I can’t keep.”

Katsuki laughs, it’s a nice sound, “Same here! Did you fucking look around?” Izuku shakes his head no, “Nope! I was hoping the number six hero in japan could maybe do it for me? I think I deserve such treatment.”

The blonde scoffs, “As if. Ask one of the extras to do it.” Izuku rubs the back of his neck, “Well… no? Plus I need you to do me a favor.” Katsuki deadpans, “What’d ya do now, Deku?” The greenette blushes at the name, yeah it was originally degrading and such but now it means something else, and Izuku just can’t get over that.

“Well let one of your workers off early for me?” Izuku sits in the chair in front of Katsuki then twiddles his fingers, “I kinda promised her that you’d let her off early-”

“YOU WALTZ IN HERE, TELLING MY EMPLOYEES THEY’LL GET OFF EARLIER THAN EXPECTED?!”

“But Kaccan-”

“WHERE DO YOU GET OFF DOING THAT?! HUH?” Izuku huffs and grumbles, “Can’t hear you, dipshit!”

“ I said,” Izuku looks at him smugly, “Well then I guess I won’t be making you spicy curry tonight,” He sighs, “What a shame. I brought your favorite snack too! And you just yell at me like I’m some nobody,” Izuku shakes his head in false disappointment, and sighs. Again. “I was in the mood too. I guess I’ll just go say hi to Shoto next-”

“Fucking- Fine! You better still be here in an hour and sure. She can go.”

Yui squeals, “Thank you…? Sorry, what’s your name?” He stands up to meet greet her, “Midoriya. Midoriya Izuku.”

---Extra---

“You want the snack now?” Katsuki looked at him with puppy dog eyes and grunted, Izuku coos, “Oh does the doggy want a treat?” Izuku chuckles.

“DEKU!”

“Oh is the doggy barking? Is he upset?”

Katsuki growls, “Oh is he gonna bite?!” Izuku squeals as Katsuki starts chasing him around the agency. The employees watch in awe and fond in their gaze.
