Chapter Text
Jon regressing at work wasn’t something new. It wasn’t even anything that uncommon either. With all the stress and the large workload he had to deal with on a daily basis since being promoted to Head Archivist, it wasn’t too surprising that he was almost always on the edge of headspace once lunch rolled around most days.
Sasha and Tim were more than grateful that Martin was in on the whole regression thing, given that he was a regressor too, and they didn’t have to sneak around anymore. No, whenever Jon was willing to let them give him a bit of a nudge toward a bit of R&R (relaxing and regressing in his case), they’d go all out and baby him to their hearts’ content.
They had even made up an emergency kit for such cases; an old duffle bag filled with spare pajamas, games, stuffies, coloring books, crayons, pacifiers, stim toys, and even some nappies and pull ups just in case. Though whenever Jon did regress all he wanted to do was eat snacks and nap until the workday was over so the kit was hardly ever used. But it was still nice to have a bit of backup in case they ever needed it. And it was starting to look like they were going to be needing it today.
Elias had stopped by the archives unexpectedly that morning with the excuse of a surprise inspection. He had wanted to make sure Jon and his assistants were able to handle themselves with the daunting task of reorganizing the mess of files and statements. As he prowled about the area, he kept insisting that the others need not be bothered by his presence stating that he was there to observe and not interfere in any way. But even just the thought of Elias being there was enough to put everyone on edge, Jon especially.
So the second Elias deemed their work sufficient and took his leave, they all let out a collective breath and Jon immediately locked himself in his office only to reemerge teetering between being big and little less than an hour later. Once work was saved and files were put away, Tim got to work fixing up a snack while Sasha went off to get the emergency kit in Jon’s office, leaving Martin to look after their baby.
Jon mumbled as Martin effortlessly picked him up and placed Jon on his hip. “Oof, we really need to feed you more, kitten. If you get any thinner I’m afraid the wind will blow you away. But don’t worry, I think your Papa is making a nice bottle of warm milk just for you. And maybe if you’re good I can give you a few biscuits from my secret stash.”
Martin’s words went unnoticed as Jon’s eyes softened and he rested his cheek on Martin’s shoulder, babbling quietly as he wound his fingers into the soft material of his jumper. Even if the day had started out stressful, Martin was glad that it led to Jon regressing. Lord knows he needs the down time and Martin absolutely adored when he was able to take care of a regressed Jon while he himself was still big.
Jon looked up at Martin and blinked owlishly, his hand moving from Martin’s jumper up into Martin’s hair. He located one set of curls in particular, carefully tracing over the soft looping hair before grabbing on and tugging with enough force for it to hurt. Martin bit down a yelp and quickly untangled Jon’s fingers from his hair. “Nope, none of that now. It’s not nice to do that, Jon,” Martin chastised as he began bouncing Jon up and down.
The motion instantly calmed Jon down and he nuzzles his face further into Martin’s shoulders. “Aw, looks like someone’s a sleepy baby,” Martin cooed as Jon rubbed his eyes and sluggishly shook his head.
“Yes you are. Don’t worry, we’ll get you all fed and let you take a nap for the rest of the day. That sound good, love?”
“Baba,” Jon whispered, his fingers slowly tracing the knitted pattern of Martin’s jumper.
“Hm? Mama? She’s getting some stuff for you, baby boy. But she should be back soon with some comfier clothes you can change into.”
Martin frowned as Jon frantically shook his head. “No! Baba!” Jon said, seeming to emphasize his word by patting Martin’s cheek.
“Baba? Honey do you… am I Baba?” Martin asked quietly, his heartbeat picking up in anticipation of Jon’s answer.
Jon quickly nodded and buried his face against Martin’s neck, “Baba....”
“O-oh. Okay then.” Martin swallowed down the lump in his throat as tears threatened to spill onto his cheek. Looks like he’s Jon’s Baba now. He tightened his grip on Jon and kissed the top of his head, turning to head over to the breakroom, “Alright, baby. Let’s go take care of you. Then Baba will give you all the snuggles you want.”
