Chapter 1: Longshot

Chapter Text

The first time it happened, Leia almost killed the strange soldier dressed in white.

She was raised by her parents with the knowledge of both the Empire’s version of events and what had actually happened. Either way, 7 year old Leia knew that white plastoid armor meant stormtrooper, and so when one suddenly appeared behind her, she shot them with the blaster she had hidden under her skirt.

The trooper fell, shaking as they did so, the blaster shot soaring over their head.

“How did you get in here?” she demanded, blaster pointed at the figure on the ground. The young princess figured it was a valid question. She was in the royal gardens, after all, there were guards at each entrance and posted throughout the garden itself.

Now that she took a closer look, the white armor was covered in yellow gold paint markings, and the whole set was covered in scratches and dents. The Empire kept their troops as clean and sterile as possible, always pure white and without blemish. She knew that fact well, her father and mother always had an escort of them when he dealt with any important business with the Empire.

“I- I don’t, I was on a mission, where, where am I?” The voice that spoke was slurred, the voice modular in the helmet must have been fried as well because it cracked and spat out the question with a good deal of static.

Leia could hear the royal guards shouting come closer to where she and the mysterious trooper were. She supposed there was no harm in letting the trooper know exactly what the situation they were in was.

“You’re on Alderaan, in the royal gardens. There are guards already on their way. I’m going to ask you again, how did you get here?”

The figure reached up and pulled off the battered helmet, and Leia realized that it wasn’t the correct shape of a stormtrooper’s either, in fact, it looked almost like-

“I’m gonna be honest kid, I don’t know. I was with General Kenobi breaking into the Citadel to free one of the Jedi, and last I checked, I’d just gotten zapped by a force field.”

It was then that Leia realized she wasn’t looking at a stormtrooper. She was looking at a clone trooper, one who apparently had worked with General Obi Wan Kenobi.

“Who are you?” She asked, a sense of almost awe entering her voice.

“CT-5421 ma’am, but most call me Longshot”
