“19! Team meeting, Beanery, Now.” The whole team ran up to the beanery curious as to why their Captain was holding a meeting in the middle of a shift, the reason becoming very clear as they got up there. Stood in front of the island was someone none of them recognised wearing the SFD uniform, although it was very clear to the whole team that even from a distance she was extremely beautiful.
“Who’s the Supermodel Cap?” shouted Travis as he and the rest of the team sat down at the table.
“This is Dr Carina Deluca, she’s going to be helping Warren out on the PRT, she’s a licensed OBGYN who also has experience working with both Trauma and General Surgery.”
The team very quickly had a lot of questions
“Dr Deluca it’s so nice to meet you I’m Jack and I’d be more than happy to help show you round the Station, I know the first day at work can be hard”
This elicited a groan from the rest of the firefighters,
“Gibson, keep it in your pants please we don’t want a repeat of the whole Rigo situation.”
This caused Carina to pipe up,
“Unfortunately for you I’m happily married and I don’t think they’d be very happy with me sleeping around at work, thanks for the offer though I’ll keep it in mind if things don’t work out.”
The whole team laughed and asked Carina a few more questions about her medical training, why she’d decided to work at Station 19 and a few more personal questions that were quickly shut down by their Captain
“Okay it’s time for chores and Gibson just for the comment you made earlier your on toilet duty.”
The day ran pretty smoothly, well as smoothly as it can for a fire station. The calls they went to were only minor and thankfully didn’t require any of Carinas major surgery skills, but everyone was super impressed with what they saw and also her ability to keep a calm head in a crisis.
“Where did you find someone like her Cap? If she wasn’t already married I’d snatch her up myself” shouted Andy across the barn as they came back from their 3rd call of the day.
“So Dr Deluca your husband doesn’t mind that you’ve decided running into burning buildings as your new career choice? Because when I switched from surgery to firefighting my wife almost left me” Warren asked as he and Carina started restocking the PRT with the spares that they kept at the station.
“I think your mistaken Dr Warren, I don’t have a husband but my wife said she won’t mind as long as I go home to her and I am sleeping in her bed at the end of the night.”
This comment had caught everyone’s attention and all eyes were on the pair and they continued their discussion,
“Oh I’m sorry for assuming, I just thought someone who looks the way you look would be married to a rich, handsome man, can you tell us more about her?” Ben asked a little bit embarrassed.
“Well for starters she’s beautiful, she’s brave, she’s the kindest person I know, she puts everyone else before herself, she never fails to make me smile, she shows me love that I never thought I’d experience and there’s no one else’s opinion I care about more than hers.”
“She seems amazing, we all can’t wait to meet her! You’ll have to bring her to the station for dinner one day- maybe when Miranda’s here so she isn’t the only none firefighter!” Everyone nodded in agreement as Carina said with a small smile,
“That sounds lovely, I’ll be sure to let her know.”
The team continued doing their chores - wiping down the engines, restocking their equipment and checking that everything was in tip top shape for their next call when all of a sudden Maya asked Carina to see her in her office,
“I hope I haven’t done anything wrong?”
“No not at all Dr Deluca, I just like to check in with all my probies on their first day to make sure they’re settling in ok.”
The rest of the team set off to the bunks in the hope they could get a couple of hours of sleep and Carina followed Maya into her office. The second they stepped inside Maya locked the door pushed Carina against it and kissed her until she had to pull away so they could both take a breath.
“Woah what was that for?”
“You can’t say all those things about your wife and then expect me to not want to kiss you, do you know how hard it was to not look at you while you were saying all those things?”
“But bambina, I thought we weren’t telling people at the station? At least not for the first few weeks because we don’t want any rumours about favouritism?”
“I know we said that baby but I can’t keep my distance from you, do you know how hard it is to have to stand the other side of the room so I don’t accidentally touch you or how calling you Dr Deluca is killing me? Or how hard it was to not snap at Gibson when he started flirting with you right in front of me? I just want everyone to know that you are my wife and I love you.” Carina walked over kissed the pout off her lips,
“Let’s talk about this later ok? It’s late, I’m tired and I want to cuddle my wife in her bunk while there’s no prying eyes.”
The two of them made their way over to Mayas bunk and quickly fell asleep.
Suddenly Maya wakes up to people trying but failing to talk quietly in her office, and before she can think about who she’s in bed with and figure out an excuse as to why she’s in bed with the stations newest probie, the door to her bunk swings open and Andy and Jack come bursting in.
“Sorry Cap but we were worried about you, normally you don’t sleep on shift and we have our weekly meeting and it’s not like you to be late.” With all the commotion and noise going on around her forgetting where she was for a moment Carina sat up looked around,
“Merda I was just leaving” she stuttered while looking back and forth between the 2 Lieutenants and Maya.
“Hold on a second, you told me you were married? Or was that just a lie to stop me getting in your pants?” Jack was beginning to get angry now, his flirting with Carina earlier was only lighthearted and he didn’t like being lied too especially by people he’d only just met.
“No I was telling the truth, I am married to the love of my life.”
A look of realisation was starting to spread across Andy’s face and she turned to Maya and started to say something but Maya quickly shook her head, she wanted to see how long it would take Jack to realise what Andy had realised.
“So your wife would be ok with you sleeping in another woman’s bed? That’s not cool man she deserves to know the truth.”
Carina glanced over at Maya who was trying not to laugh and she knew that she’d be ok with her Lieutenants finding out the truth.
“Ok ok I’ll ask her right now if it will make you feel better?”
Carina turns to Maya with a glint in her eye and a smirk on her face,
“Bambina is it ok if I sleep in the same bed as the captain at the station? It’s just so much more comfy than the bunks and the company is so much better.”
Maya reached for Carinas hand and gave her the smile that was reserved only for her,
“Well I suppose your wife is ok with that but only because your so good looking.”
This caused the 3 girls in the room to start laughing while Jack stood there, looking just as confused as he did when he first saw Carina in Maya’s bed.
“Wait what? I’m confused?”
Maya pulls Carina into a searing kiss before turning to Jack,
“She’s my wife you idiot!”
