Work Text:
footsteps padded softly against the floor. while gavin was only starting to fade out of consciousness, the sound made him resist the sleep he desperately needed. he had barely been getting any sleep for the past few days, too busy with the new android-murder case to sleep for more than four hours every night.
the footsteps grew closer, and all he could hope was that they wouldn’t bother him with another piece of information. sleeping was hard already as hard as it was, he didn’t need someone to interrupt the one chance he got for a peaceful rest. if it was important enough, maybe he'd find it in himself to wake up, but for now, he couldn't find a single fuck to give.
the footsteps stopped, halting right behind him. he felt the urge to open his eyes and look up. the exhaustion was tucked into the corner of his mind, now overcome with curiosity. would they say something to him? does this person even need to talk to him?
light rustling came from the person behind him, who then placed something on him. he wasn’t sure if it was a blanket or a jacket, but the material was heavy.
the hands of the person behind him placed the fabric down firmly, gripping his shoulders gently and ensuring that it stayed in place. the touch was careful, calculated. at this point, he was sure he knew who was the culprit of the action.
before gavin could say anything, the person was walking away with a renewed purpose: their footsteps were louder and quicker. he opened his eyes slowly, catching a glimpse of the white leather laid over his frame. he felt a deep rumble in his chest and heat spread throughout his face.
it was just a kind gesture, of course. what the hell is he thinking?
with a renewed sense of exhaustion, he closed his eyes. he needed the rest so he could get back to working on the cases as soon as possible.
