Work Text:
Marinette just wanted a hug. The day had already been long enough as it was, and it hadn't even been close to noon. In fact, it was eight in the morning.
This morning, Hawkmoth had decided to send an akuma out. Marinette was sleeping and had to wake up from the sleep she rarely ever got, and defeat it. It had taken a lot of work since Chat Noir didn't do anything. Again. He just stood there on the sidelines and chatted. About how she was doing everything wrong, how he would only help if she would agree to go out on a date with her, how the damage the akuma created was her fault, and more. She was honestly exhausted.
When she had made it back home, she was determined to call someone to help her feel better. Preferably, one of the two people she knew could help calm her down. But the moment she had gotten home, she had made contact with her bed and passed out. She didn't notice Tikki's worried face or the other miraculous holder coming into the room.
Older Alix, Bunnix, was watching things in her burrow. She had seen everything that had happened to the mini ladybug in the past year. She had only seen this happen in one dimension and knew all the events that had led up to it. She knew exactly what she had to do.
Going through the different portals, she took the person she was aiming for and put them into another portal, in the exact spot she wanted them in. Her favorites in the front and her least favorites in the back.
But doing her task for some was harder than she thought it would be. Everyone she was getting was asleep, that she was sure of. But some of them were light sleepers, so she had to do something to make sure they didn't wake up. To be on the safe side, she took a needle and injected few with it to keep them from waking up.
Marinette, a few hours later, had been slowly gaining consciousness. She knew her arms were wrapped around something, and that something was warm and comfortable. Marinette leaned in into it, waking up slowly.
She looked up and saw the face of her lover. Her boyfriend.
"Dami?" Marinette whispered, eyes still fluttering open.
Damian, who was loving to see his girlfriend in person again, just went down and pressed a loving kiss on her forehead. "Hello beloved." He told her.
Marinette's eyes moved around the room, wanting to know where she was. She noticed how she didn't recognize the place. The room was spacious, but not as big as some room in the Wayne manor. She could suddenly feel stares on her. She looked around and saw the people who hated her either staring at her or glaring at her, probably thinking the whole thing was her fault they were there.
Marinette just ignored them and brought her head into Damian's chest. Her arms around his chest secured more tightly. Damian, in reaction, just wrapped his arms around her and got comfortable, knowing who brought them there.
Marinette, not even a minute later, turned her head to the side. She saw her best friend, Chloe, sitting next to her boyfriend, Jon. Marinette smiled, liking to see her friend happy.
Marinette didn't notice the blonde in the back looking at her heartbroken.
Suddenly, Bunnix came out, holding a remote. "Hi guys!" She said, entering the room.
She had gotten some weird stares by the people who didn't know who she was. The people who did know her where confused as to why she brought them there.
In the room, there was all of Mrs. Bustier's class, including Mrs. Bustier, Marinette's parents, Jon Kent, Damian Wayne, Jagged and Penny Stone. Fang, who was still sleeping, was also there.
"Today, I'm here to show you some events in some of your lives." Marinette's eyes widened at the information, knowing that her secret might be out. "But don't worry. The things that weren't meant to be out will remain a secret." She said, knowing that Marinette would be put at ease by it. She was.
Marinette came from Damian's chest and turned around, so her back was on his torso. Damian continued to put his arms around her waist. Marinette snuggled in the position she was.
To the right of them, Chloe was sitting on Jon's lap, her arms wrapped around his neck. (To specify, Jon's body is facing the front, while Chloe's is facing the side.)
Everyone who didn't know about them looked at them weird. They didn't know who the two guys were, why the girls were acting like that with them, because didn't they like Adrien? And who was the person who kidnapped them and made them stay there. The class was worried that the person who kidnapped them could hurt their little angel, Lila.
"Here we go." Bunnix started. "For four people in this room, don't get jealous about what you're about to see." She said, eyeing Adrien and Lila.
All lights go off in the room. Everyone, thinking that it was like a movie theatre, sat in their seats, somewhere close to their significant others or friends, and got comfortable.
"Marinette! Your alarm's been going off for fifteen minutes! You're going to be late for your first day back at school!" Sabine yells from another room.
"Got it, Mom!" Marinette says back. She gets out of bed and gets ready. Going downstairs to make her some food, she starts to complain. "I bet you anything Chloe will be in my class again."
In the room, Marinette is sending apologetic glances to Chloe. Chloe, when she sees them, mouths that it was alright.
"Four years in a row. Is that possible?" Sabine asked.
"Definitely. Lucky me!" Marinette said, sarcastically.
"Oh, don't say that! It's the start of a new year- I'm sure everything will be just fine!" Sabine said, encouraging her daughter.
Marinette nodded and set down the cereal in her hand. In doing this, she causes several things to knock over and spill liquid on the floor. Marinette groans.
"Another reason why she's a disappointment." Sabine whispered to Tom.
Marinette, who had heard it, started to get smaller and tried to hide in her boyfriend's hold.
Tom came in humming a tune. He went and gave Marinette a box.
"Dad, these are so awesome!" Marinette told him.
"Glad you like them." Tom told her.
{Timeskip due to me not wanting to write all of this. Now, onwards with Marinette finding out she's Ladybug.}
"I hate first days back at schools." Marinette sighs, as she sits in her desk chair. Upon opening her eyes, she spots a box on her desk. "Huh?"
Marinette was about to turn her eyes away from the screen, when the next part caught her eye.
Adrien, who noticed the box, just stared at the girl in the front row. Well, as best as he could with the other dude in front of her.
Adrien, who was on the other side of the screen, had seen a box in front of him. "Huh?"
"What's this doing here?" The two said at the same time.
The screen goes to show only Marinette. She opens the box and Tikki comes out. Marinette then gets all frightened. "Ahh! Help! It's a giant bug! A-a mouse! A bug mouse!"
Marinette giggled at her past self, seeing how funny it was. Damian, Chloe, Jon, Jagged, and Penny all smiled at Marinette. Everyone else in the room who had a kwami before just stared at it in disbelief. Their gazes then went to Lila and back at the screen.
Adrien, who had saw it, realized he finally found his lady. He wondered why she rejected him that morning. In his head, the guy holding onto her was just a friend.
"Everything's okay. Don't be scared!" Tikki said, trying to calm Marinette.
"Ahh! Bug mouse talks!" Marinette yells, throwing things at Tikki to keep her away.
The scene on the screen changes. On the screen, it's in Adrien's isolated room, with him opening the box.
Plagg appears out of thin air and Adrien stares at him. "No way.... Like the genie in the lamp!"
"I met him once. So he grants wishes. Big deal! I'm way more Pierson able! Plagg. Nice to meet you. Oh, swanky." Plagg said, going off into Adrien's room to try and eat his things.
Marinette and Chloe stare at the screen with disgust on their faces. If it wasn't Adrien who was behind the mask, they would have been laughing at Plagg's behavior.
The guys who were holding them felt their discomfort and held onto them tighter, more protectively.
"No. Don't touch that! Come back here!" Adrien said, trying to get Plagg to stop eating his things.
"Oh. So shiny! Can you eat this?" Plagg asked, trying to bite onto his joystick. "No, you can't. Oh, what about this?" He asked, going to other objects in the room.
Almost everyone in the room looks at Adrien. The ones who have had a miraculous before looks at him surprised, while the others at him confused, trying to figure out what was the bug like creature him and Marinette had.
"Listen Marinette. I know everything may seem a bit strange to you." Tikki got cut off by Marinette putting a glass over her head.
"Sorry Tikki." Marinette whispered.
"Okay, if that makes you feel safer." Tikki told her.
"What are you, and how do you know my name?" Marinette asked.
Everyone in the room agreed with her questions, wanting to know what they were.
"I'm a kwami, and my name is Tikki. Now just let me explain." Tikki told her.
The scene changes to Adrien's room with him trying to catch Plagg.
"I still don't know what you're doing here." Adrien told Plagg.
"Look, I'm a kwami. I grant powers. Yours is the power of destruction, got it?" He asked.
Adrien nodded. "Uh-uh."
"Good. Now, you got anything to eat? I'm starving." Plagg asked Adrien.
"My dad's pranking me? Wait, he couldn't be. He has no sense of humor." Adrien thought aloud.
"My bro's right. Mr. Agreste needs to take a chill pill." Nino said from his seat.
Plagg flew out of Adrien's hands and went to his face. "Your father must never know that I exist! Or anyone for that matter."
Plagg flew out of Adrien's pocket and went to Bunnix.
"So much for not letting anyone know I exist." He told her.
"You know my job and this is part of it. Besides, almost everyone will forget what happened here. They'll remember that a certain someone was lying." She said the last part as a whisper. "But, besides that, they won't remember what happened except a few people. And you should know who they are."
Plagg huffed, but left her alone. He flew back, but instead of going to Adrien, he went to Damian and sat on his head. Adrien looked at both of them in disbelief.
Tikki decided to come out, off of Marinette's person, and sat on her shoulders, not knowing if she was going to be in the way of Damian's vision. Everyone who looked at them just stared in disbelief while some ignored the obvious and continued to watch what was on the screen.
"Mom! Dad!" Marinette yelled out, holding Tikki in the glass.
Tikki flew out the glass. "No!" I'm your friend Marinette. You must trust me. You're the only one who can stop Stoneheart." She told him.
"This must be some mistake. the only superpower I can possibly have is super-awkwardness. I know! Alya would know! That's my friend. Well, at least I think she would. She loves superheroes! She'd totally be up for the job. You should totally see her!" Marinette told Tikki.
Alya looked at the screen, shocked what her former best friend said. Marinette wouldn't have become Ladybug if she wasn't the one chosen.
"Marinette, you are the chosen one!" Tikki insisted.
"But I'm stuck here! I'm never even let to go to school! What good is a superhero who's imprisoned in his own house!" Adrien told Plagg.
"No good. That's why it's all going to change soon. If you're willing to change, that is." Plagg told him.
"He changed for the worse." Plagg muttered.
Marinette heard him and put her hand out for him. He flew into her hand. Marinette pulled him into her cheek, wanting to give him a hug. His paws went around her cheek, taking the hug.
After that, he went to Damian's shoulder, which wasn't that far from Tikki.
"Okay, so all I have to do is break the object where the whatcha-call-it is hiding?" Marinette rephrased.
"It's called an akuma. Which you must encapture." Tikki tells her.
"Got it! Capture it! And what's that charm thing again?" Marinette asked.
"The lucky charm. It's your secret superpower!" Tikki retold her.
"Aww. This is all going to fast, Tikki. I won't be able to pull this off." Marinette told Tikki, looking at her.
"Trust yourself." Tikki reassured her. "Just say the words, "spots on.""
"Spots on?" Marinette asked. A bright pink flashed and soon, Marinette was standing there with her Ladybug outfit.
The scene changes to Adrien about to transform.
"Claws out! That's how you transform." Plagg told him.
"Got it. Plagg, claws out." Adrien said, not letting Plagg finish.
"No, wait. I haven't finished explaining-" he gets cut off by going into the ring.
Bunnix turned off the screen and looked at everyone in front of her. "I'm sure you all know what happens next. So, take this time to go over anything with the people around you." She disappeared after saying that.
Almost instantly, everyone turns towards Lila. Her eyes open wide and starts to think of a plan in her head.
"Lila, didn't you say you were Ladybug's best friend? Why do you and Marinette hate each other then?" Rose asked.
"It's because, that was our diversion." Lila said, trying to convince herself. "Nobody would suspect that we were best friend if we hated each other." She said it like a question.
"So a best friend get's their parent's to disown them, threaten them in the bathroom when no one is there, turn their friends and everyone around them against them, and bully them no matter what form their in?" Marinette asked, putting her two cents in. Everyone turned towards her, horrified at her words. "I hate to see what best friend's you had before you moved to Paris." Marinette said, before turning around and paid attention to her boyfriend.
Everyone started asking questions to Lila, and she started to get pale, not knowing how to answer them.
Meanwhile, the two couples, a married couple, and an animal were in their own world, not noticing how they got some stares.
Fang, who had woken up, went towards Marinette and Damian, knowing that they would give him the most love. When he got over there, the two immediately made space for him to have half of his body on Marinette's lap.
"I can't believe tha my daughter's a superhero!" Jagged exclaimed. "Penny, can you believe this?! Our little rocker is a superhero!" Jagged continued.
Penny rolled her eyes at her husband and faced her daughter. "What he means is that we're both proud of you." Penny told Marinette.
"Thanks mom." Marinette said seriously. When she looked at Jagged, she giggled. "Thanks dad."
Everyone, her classmates, her teacher, and her parents, were staring at them, dumbfounded that she called them mom and dad. Tom and Sabine felt a pang in their hearts when they heard that. Lila just got more pale, knowing that she lied about Marinette's parents.
"My Queen, how do you feel about this?" Jon asked Chloe. They all knew what they were talking about, but the people that weren't in on it thought that he was talking about them watching themselves.
"Oh, she had it coming." Chloe responded. "She thought she could lie about Mari-bug and then people she knew and get away with it. It was only a matter of time before she got exposed." Chloe took her arms from around his neck and crossed them on her chest. Jon smiled and pecked her lips, which resulted in Chloe's face turning red.
Marinette smiled at seeing her best friend turn red, seeing as it didn't happen often since they lived halfway across the world from each other. Damian, sensing her happiness, gave her a kiss on her head. The kwamis who were with them just smiled at them.
While that was happening, Adrien watched the whole interaction with the unknown guy and his lady. Now that they knew each other's identities, they should have both fallen for each other, Marinette more than Adrien, but that didn't happen. She was too wrapped up in the guy that was holding her than she was about even thinking about him. Adrien frowned at it. He was supposed to be the one to cuddle with her, not that dude. He didn't know him, so how did Marinette know him? For all he knew of, he could have been dangerous.
Suddenly, Bunnix came back out. She had a remote in her hand, another episode on the screen. Everyone turned towards her, wondering what she was going to do next.
"Since you're all not supposed to be here long because some of you need to eat, this is going to be the second and last one I'm showing you. This one is something that happened to Mini-bugs last week." She told them. Her face went towards the screen, while everyone followed suit.
Marinette came back from the bathroom to go to her class. When she arrived, she saw everyone out of their seats. Thinking that Mrs. Bustier told them to do something, she went towards them.
Going over, she saw Lila smirking, while Adrien was giving her a knowing look. She was confused, but she took her focus off of them as she saw pieces of paper on the ground. Catching a glimpse at the paper, she noticed a familiar pattern. She stopped moving and froze.
Her classmates had ripped up her sketchbook, and they had only gotten to it since Chloe wasn't at school that day, recovering from being sick.
Someone had gotten a look at Marinette frozen in her spot and they all turned to her. Some glared while others looked smug.
"This is what you get for bullying Lila. You shouldn't have pushed her down the stairs after school yesterday." Alya told her.
Marinette didn't even look at her, she just focused her gaze on the torn pieces of paper. She had lost a week's worth of sleep only for it to be ripped and thrown like it was nothing.
Suddenly, the bell rang. Everyone left, while Marinette stayed. She walked over to where her book was and saw that no pages were there, even the blank ones were ripped and tossed aside.
"You should have taken the deal I offered you." A voice said.
Marinette turned around and saw Lila in the doorway. She had that same smirk on her face.
"You would still have your friends and we wouldn't have an issue, but you decided to go against me. No one who goes against me ever makes it out happy." Lila told her.
The room filled with gasps. They all felt sick and it was because they believe Lila over someone they knew for far longer. Adrien couldn't figure out if he should have been happy because she got exposed, or disappointed since she got exposed and not by herself.
Marinette didn't respond, while Lila walked away. Marinette, when she was sure no one was around, took out a pair of glasses. She put them on and whispered some words.
After a brown light went over her, she whispered another word. A portal appeared in front of her. She stepped into it, leaving the school.
When she arrived, she was in an unfamiliar room that most people wouldn't recognize. She muttered other words and the brown light went over her again. She took the glasses off and put them in her bag.
Her class saw that in the room that there on the bed was the guy that was holding Marinette was there. And when they saw how big the room was, their eyes widened, not knowing that he was rich.
Marinette walked up, went onto his bed, and hugged Damian. Her face went into his chest. Damian didn't even question it and wrapped his arms around her.
Damian, a minute into the hug, felt something wet on his shirt. He knew that his beloved was crying. One of his hands went to rub circles on her back in a comforting manner, while he let her cry as much as she wanted to.
Suddenly, Damian's door opened.
"Damian, Jason wants to know if you took his-" Jon, who was at the door, stopped when he saw the familiar bluenette on Damian's bed. "What happened to Mari?"
Damian, for once, didn't glare at him. He looked up and answered him, but went straight back to the girl in his arms. "I don't know Kent."
"Kent? As in Jonathon Kent?" Alya asked aloud.
"I'll just tell him you didn't. Take care of Mari." Jon said, before closing the door.
Damian continued to rub circles on her back, while Tikki came out from her bag.
"What happened?" Damian asked her, knowing she would be the only one to tell him.
"Marinette went to the bathroom and she left her stuff in the classroom. She didn't have Chloe to guard her stuff since she's out sick, so they plotted to rip her stuff. Her teacher wasn't there and they did it. When Marinette came back, she saw them ripping her sketchbook. When they all left, she transformed and came here."
Damian suddenly felt that Marinette stopped moving. When he looked at her, he could tell that she stopped crying and her breathing got deeper. He could tell she went to sleep.
"I'm going to kill them." Damian muttered under his breath, but it was loud enough for the people to hear him.
Suddenly, the screen was turned off. Bunnix looked around the room and saw the different reactions to what they saw on the screen. All of Lila's believers were pale and some looked like they were about to puke.
She looked over at the sensible ones, everyone except Marinette looked ready to murder the person who made her cry, while Marinette just rolled her eyes, knowing that she would have to convince five people not to commit murder.
"Alright, so that concludes today's lesson. I hope the person who it was for learned their lesson." She said, giving a pointed look to Lila. "Now, it's time for all of you to go back home."
There was an akuma and it was Lila. Since everyone knew of her lies, for what reason, no one knew, she became frustrated and turned into an akuma.
Out in display were four people who were there to save the day. Robin, Ladybug, Abielle, and Superboy. Suddenly, Chat Noir showed up, who only came seeing as there was other boys with his lady.
"Me, Abielle, and Superboy are going to go after the akuma. Robin," Ladybug said, looking at him. "You know what to do." The guy in question nodded his head.
The three of them disappeared to go fight the akuma, while Chat Noir stayed, wanting to see what the new guy was doing on his turf. All of a sudden, he was put down onto the ground, his arms behind his back.
"You're pathetic Agreste." Robin growled before taking his miraculous and heading off. Adrien just stared at him, wondering how he had done that when he for sure had known that he didn't have a miraculous.
Superboy, Abielle, and Ladybug had finished fighting Lila off before Robin came back, seeing as it was an easy fight. When she reversed the damage, she saw people coming up to them to either ask questions or make fun of Lila because she lied.
Wanting to get away, the four went to Jagged's hotel room for the boys to change and to let the girl's dismount their kwamis.
"Did you get the boy's miraculous?" Penny asked when she stepped into the room.
The two girls nodded, while the boys came out. Marinette was quick to latch her hand onto Damian's and drag him out of there, since they were taking a walk.
"Bye mom! Tell dad that I'm going to get some Andre's ice cream if he asks where I am." Marinette said before leaving the room.
On the two's walk around Paris, they did eventually get ice cream, but that was after they walked to a cafe and had eaten there. While walking to Andre's, they saw that the bakery was closed for personal reasons. Even if they knew why it was closed, they didn't acknowledge it, ignoring it in favor of not wanting to make the angel of the duo sad.
