Chapter Text
You took your work outside on a beautiful day in late spring, to one of the smaller and unfrequented gardens. Few books opened around you, leaning against the garden wall, you fell asleep despite your best efforts.
There was no way of knowing, but Elrond could see you from his study - he saw you work, he saw you fell asleep too but only smiled, through contemplating whether to go and wake you up or not.
Deciding against, he glanced over every now and then, as if perhaps watching over you even though this was Imladris and little harm could come to you. As the wind rose through, the sky growing darker with the cloud it brought, he found himself looking in your direction more, as if hoping you would wake up before the rain.
Finally, as it seemed you would not, he surrounded, making his path outside, around, and to the garden.
You were exhausted, he noted when standing above you. From afar he could not tell so easily, but watching you closely now he saw the parted lips, the limpness of your arms that just dropped as you fell asleep - he saw the dark circles under your eyes.
“ Wake up, little one.” He whispered.
You only woke up, through when he brushed back of his fingers against your cheek. Looking at the sky when he told you of the coming rain and apologizing, you began picking up the books.
Elrond noticed you shivering, offering, insisting, that you come to continue your work in his study - “there’s fire” he said, running already and so it warmth.
You made it inside just in time, grateful. It would take longer for you to get to your rooms, and it wasn’t just a drizzle - this was one of the first downpours announcing the arrival of the summer season.
Elrond only smiled, when taking his place back at his table, watching you accept the place at a long chair near the fireplace. Both of you went back to your work and he insisted you make yourself comfortable.
You didn’t mean to fall asleep, again - and worse - in front of the great lord of elves, but the warmth and the pillow behind you had were too alluring. The book you were studying too light, the subject although interesting difficult, you found yourself resting your eyes and losing the fight shortly after that.
Elrond smiled, again, watching you take small slow breaths as your lips parted. It wasn’t often these days he was granted the intimacy of seeing someone fall asleep through aware of his presence, and he enjoyed it immensely.
