When the empire rose to power it was quiet and fast. That when the holonews reporter Elle Farr of Coruscant woke up for the day it was already over. She checks her comm to see a flashing light indicating urgency and the Jedi Temple which is visible from her pad in smoke and fire. She turns on her holo tv to get more information while preparing to get to her job as fast as possible. When all of it was done she knew only two things. That the Jedi’s were traitors and the Republic will now be reorganized as the 1st Galactic Empire. The Supreme Chancellor was now the Emperor and the Hero with no Fear, the face of the Republic or now former Jedi Anakin Skywalker is now Lord Vader. Elle and everyone were all shocked and a bit scared but life had to go on for people like Elle. Everybody thought that was the last shocking event they had to witness in their lifetime. It was not, a month later a new Emperor emerged.
Lord Vader became the new Emperor after killing Emperor Palpatine. The holonet and holonews of course went crazy and Elle Farr became busier than ever. Like all news agencies they are assigned tasks and for Elle Farr. Well, she was assigned to watch the Imperial Family. It was two years later when the first news of the Imperial Family was publicized. Emperor Vader had a wife when he was still a Jedi and she is now known as Empress Padme Skywalker. What was shocking was that it was also publicized that the Emperor also had a Consort. The identity of the consort remained a secret for two more months until some idiot had the courage to stalk the Imperial Transport known to everyone being used by the Emperor himself. There was no denying the holoimage being spread like wildfire the true identity of the consort. Former Jedi and High General of the old Republic Obi-Wan Kenobi or now maybe Obi-Wan Kenobi-Skywalker.
Elle Farr has been a reporter for 7 years now, even before the Clone Wars started. She knew all about The Team, how they were called the best, how every mission they were assigned was a success. She had a feeling then, even if she did not personally know Obi-Wan Kenobi or Anakin Skywalker that they were closer than Master and Apprentice. How the people she interviewed that had known them and had contact with them. How they say, like they move together as if dancing with each other, how different they look at each other like they know the others greatest shame and secret.
So when Elle Farr saw the holoimage of Emperor Vader taking Obi-Wan’s hand and kissing it. How the Emperor gently touched Obi-Wan’s cheek and kissed him hard on the mouth. She knew with surety that this was not fake, nor was this holoimaged altered. Obi-Wan Skywalker, the High Consort of Emperor Vader as the official statement of the Empire cited. The people of the galactic empire knowing that both Padme, a beloved senator, and Obi-Wan, the negotiator as they call him, are supporting the Emperor and that both are loved by the Emperor made the Empire a little less scary.
When the Imperial children were announced, the Imperial Palace invited all agencies of the holonews and holonet for the announcement. Of course Elle Farr was the representative for her agency. It was now 4 years after the Empire was founded. Elle and everyone were nervous, would the Emperor be there, they whisper. Who is going to do the announcement, they ask. As for Elle, she knows this a major step for the Empire, this means the Empire was now secure and has now shown enough military might or support to announce a weakness for the Imperial Family. Yes, Elle Farr knows kidnapping children and ransoming them to their parents is the most effective way to get the kidnappers get what they want. There are rumours spreading of a rebellion fighting against the Empire. Maybe this is their way of covering those rumours, Elle is not sure.
When the red guard and the inquisitors arrived everyone became silent. Obi-Wan and Padme entered the room, both carrying toddlers. The empress carried a brown haired girl whose face shows annoyance, while the consort carried a soft blonde haired boy sleeping. Then a young togruta woman entered holding the hand of a 12 year old boy who was watching everything curiously. The empress let go of the toddler on the ground and held her hand while walking to the podium to start the announcement.
“Welcome everyone” she smiles “It has been four years since the Empire was founded, so why do we now show you our children. As you guess it is for their safety, especially for our young ones.”
The toddler let go of the Padme’s hand and went to the child the young togruta woman was holding. She held her hands up as a universal sign in wanting to be pick-up. The boy smiled and did what she wanted.
“Let us not keep you all in suspense” Padme says “To all the people of the Galactic Empire we would like you to meet our children.”
Ahsoka Tano was introduced as an Imperial Princess. She may not be a child anymore and is not adopted. She is according to the Emperor like a little sister to him. Ahsoka Tano, former Jedi and padawan of Anakin Skywalker.
Then the Imperial Prince, Cal Kestis, was found in Bracca by the consort 1 year after the empire was founded. Malnourished and having severe internal bleeding in the head which caused him memory loss. The Imperial Prince, Luke Skywalker and the Imperial Princess Leia Skywalker
Luke and Leia Skywalker are twins as said by the Empress, she steps back from the podium and the consort replaces her. He smiled at everyone before saying with his soft voice “Now that you have known them. I hope you all will help them in the future and even now. Now any questions?” The consort asked but no one would dare question the most obvious one. Why is the emperor naming a togruta and an adopted boy who are not blood related an imperial prince and princess? The obvious question would be but no one asked and just took holoimages. So the announcement ended with only mundane questions like how old are they and other things.
For Elle Farr this was an amazing move done by the Imperial Family. The whole galaxy would know that the Imperial family does limit their love to one species only. As far Elle would know it can only be an act to get the sympathy or enamor the people of the empire.
Now though, as the 5 year anniversary of the 1st Galactic Empire is taking place. How Elle sees the veranda in which the Imperial Family is standing and waving and how they interact with each other. How the children are free to run around the veranda. How the princess Ahsoka try to admonish them and tell them to behave. How the empress watches them and just shakes her head smiling. How the sparkling clothes of both the empress and the consort match beautifully with the Emperor's clothes. How Anakin Skywalker takes the left hand of Obi-Wan in his right and Padme’s right hand with his left. He kisses both arms and both their lips.
Elle Farr knows that Anakin Skywalker did love his family deeply, so deeply in fact that she might be the only one close to discovering the truth of how the Empire came to be.
