Work Text:

“Good morning Marinette. I heard there was an Akuma attack at midnight. Have you managed to get any sleep?” Sabine asked her daughter as she ate breakfast.

“Not much. I don’t think I slept for more than four hours this night. It was so hard to wake up. Luckily, Tikki was there to help me get out of bed, like always.”

“Marinette, sweetie, you know that we 100% support you being Ladybug, but please take care of yourself. The heroine must be healthy to be able to save others.”

The girl sighed and got out of her chair. She gave her mom a quick peck on the cheek.

“I will be all right. I will sleep after I come home after my hangout with Luka, Kagami, and Adrien.”

“Have fun!” She waved at her daughter who was rushing to school.

“Marinette, are you okay? You look like you haven’t slept in ages.” Alya took a glance at her friend who was currently sipping at a coffee.

“Mmm, I’m fine. I haven’t managed to get a lot of sleep, so here I am, drinking black coffee even though I hate it.”

Alya let out a chuckle. Her gaze turned to worry.

“Make sure it doesn’t become an addiction,”

“It won’t become an addiction, don’t worry about it,” Marinette said as a smile formed on her lips. “Besides, you are here to stop that from happening”

“I can’t always be there to help.”

“I know,” Marinette said as she closed her eyes.

“Hey, Adrien. Will you please make sure Marinette doesn’t get a caffeine addiction?”

Adrien smiled at the request. “Of course.”

The plan with them wasn’t anything fancy: Just a walk around Paris. Even if it was just that, Marinette was grateful to be able to spend time with her crushes. It was the first time they went out just the four of them.

“I am pretty curious, why do you never have time to go out Marinette? You too Adrien. Are you hiding something from us?”

Adrien and Marinette looked at Kagami in confusion; they shared an awkward glance. Their gazes then met the interrogators.

“Nothing! Just lots of homework!” both of them said at the same time.

It seemed to convince Kagami as she shrugged and continued walking.

“I could get used to this,” Luka confessed after a few more minutes. They all exchanged a warm smile at each other and nodded.

“I feel the same way,” Adrien spoke, his voice gentle, and let out a charming smile.

“I wish you guys had more free time. We also sometimes have busy schedules, not as busy as yours, but not too pleasant either,” Luka expressed.

“To be honest, I wish this wasn’t just a hangout. I wish it were something more. I wish some other things were going on between us...” Kagami added.

“What do you mean?” Adrien questioned.

“Nothing, forget it.”

“By the way Marinette, how do you manage to keep up with so much stress? Sewing takes a lot of time and on top of that, you have homework. Do you even sleep?” Luka asked.

“Of course I get to sleep,” Marinette said and added a nervous laugh. Just then, she spotted a coffee shop and suggested: “Let’s go inside and order something,”

“Yes, but please don’t buy black coffee again. You remember what Alya said, right? Don’t make it an addiction,” Adrien chimed in.

“Well, what else can I buy?”

“Perhaps a latte would work,” the Japanese girl suggested.

“Ok, then, what will you guys have?” Marinette asked.

“I will have a cappuccino with some vanilla flavor, please,” Adrien requested and his lips curled up into a smile.

“Another latte for me,” Luka asked his friend.

“I’ll just go order with you,” Kagami said as she followed her friend into the shop.

The girls shortly got out with everyone’s order in hand. The sun stroked their faces, detailing their facial features. The boys’ blood was rising to their cheeks.

“Here’s your order Adrien, and here is yours, Luka,” the baker’s daughter said as she handed out the drinks to the boys.

“Thank you very much, Marinette,” Adrien said as he took the order from Marinette.

The four of them hung out, talking about the band, their hobbies, and other topics that they found interesting.

It was time for them to call it a day and get to their homes. They all had so much to get done in such little time, by five pm, after three hours of hanging out, they had to part ways.

Marinette was walking down the street to her house. Paris wasn’t such a dangerous place, ignoring the fact that Hawkmoth was there, so the boys let her go alone.

Her thoughts were running wild. She could think about how her hands brushed against Luka’s and Adrien’s or just how good it felt to be close to Kagami.

“Come on Marinette, which one are you going to pick?”

“I don’t know what to choose! Both of the drinks seem so easy and I have no idea what I am supposed to pick.”

“Do you want me to help you with it?”

“Sure.”

“I recommend the one that has less caffeine for you. In general, I think the first option is the tastiest.”

“Thanks, Kagami, I think I will order a latte with caramel.”

Kagami gave Marinette a warm smile, making her face bright red.

Marinette slapped her face hard to keep herself from going deeper into her thoughts. She had liked Adrien, right? Then why does she feel like this with Kagami and Luka as well? She was well aware that what she felt for the three of them wasn’t only friendship.

At home, she turned on her phone to look for information about it. After some scrolling, she realized she was polyromantic.

It might have been a shock for her at first, but she had heard of it once before at an interview, though she hasn’t paid that much attention back then.

“Ughhhhh! What am I going to do Tikki?! I can’t just tell them that I love all three of them! It would be weird!”

The Kwami flew to hear Holder’s side and caressed her cheek with her paw.

“I think you are overthinking this, Marinette. It can’t be too hard. After all, you told your parents you are Ladybug. What’s the difference?”

“You don’t understand this, Tikki, do you?”

“I can’t understand this because Kwamis don’t fall in love with anyone.”

A light knock interrupted their conversation.

“Marinette, I heard you groan. Is everything alright there?”

She let out a sigh. “You can come on in, Mom.”

The woman opened the trapdoor and sat on the edge of the bed where her daughter was laying. “What happened?”

“I don’t really want to talk about it.”

“Problems in paradise?”

Marinette’s eyes widened. “How did you know?”

Sabine let out a chuckle and caressed the teen’s cheek. “Don’t underestimate me. I am your mother, remember? Mother knows all.” She then winked, causing Marinette to snicker.

“You know, Mom, that it’s possible to be in love with multiple people at once? It’s called being poly-romantic.”

“Are you talking about Luka, Kagami, and Adrien?”

“I-I never told you...”

“You are very easy to read, especially to me. Don’t forget that I raised you.  I will support you. Once you are ready, I think you should tell them as well.”

She smiled warmly at her mother and nodded in acceptance.

It was a nice Saturday morning, meaning Marinette was ready for her weekly hangout with Luka, Adrien, and Kagami.

Ever since that day, the three of them created a group chat and texted non-stop on top of their weekly walks around Paris.

Marinette truly felt there was some progress between the four of them. They talked so much easier than before and with almost zero trouble.

It was also the day Marinette decided to confess to them about how her heart was beating fast every time one of them would wave at her or how blood was rushing to her face when one slightly invaded her personal space.

Adrien was the first who noticed her and yelled to get her attention.

“Oh, hey guys. Was I late again?”

“Only a little bit,” Luka replied with his usual sweet smile. Marinette’s heart did a backflip at the moment.

“I have to tell you something, I hope it’s not too sudden, but I-I...”

Kagami noticed her wheezing and gently put her arms around Marinette. “Take it easy please.”

“I-I have feelings for you guys! For all three of you! I had no idea how to tell you that, but I felt like it was suffocating me to keep it inside for too long.” Marinette took Luka’s hands in hers “I like the way you always reassure everyone with music and how you pour your soul into that guitar. You inspire me to work harder and be a better person.”

She walked over to Adrien and proceeded to do the same to him. “Adrien, I like how you are always smiling and positive no matter how bad the situation is.”

The teen girl approached Kagami and held her hands. “I like how you never hesitate and are always there for someone who needs you.”

Adrien smiled at the confession and decided to speak up. “It’s just the same for me. I love each one of you, more than just friends.”

All of their eyes widened in shock.

“It is the same to me. It’s what I wanted to talk to you guys about once,” Kagami said as her lips curled up in the prettiest smile anyone had ever seen.

“Same for me,” said Luka.

“Marinette, what’s going on? You must tell us; we are dating. After all, there should be no secrets between the four of us. You always seem to disappear and don’t come back in hours. We are all worried about you. And you aren’t any better, Adrien!”

They were all in Adrien’s bedroom. Adrien and Marinette sat on the couch while being lectured by a reassuring, but concerned Luka and Kagami.

Kagami had told them that they needed to talk to Luka and her.

“I don’t understand what you are talking about, Kagami,” Adrien spoke.

“Oh, stop playing innocent, or else we are breaking up right here and right now! You know how much I hate it when people lie to me!”

Marinette’s eyes started watering. Her secret had made her lose a good amount of sleep. She had no idea how to act when she was exposed like this.

“Okay, I will tell you.” Her voice was shaky and a drop of sweat left her face. “I’ve been saving Paris as Ladybug! Yes, I know it’s unbelievable, but I am the heroine of Paris.

“And so have I!” said Adrien. “I am Chat Noir!”

Kagami sighed. “Why didn’t you tell us sooner?”

“‘Cause I didn’t want to put you all in danger,” Marinette answered in a low tone

“You being Ladybug and Chat Noir doesn’t change anything in our relationship. I just want you to be more honest with us from now on. We want to help you go through the hard times and support you. We really do!”

A tear that Marinette couldn’t hold fell on her cheek.

“It’s okay, Marinette, we are here for you,” Luka said reassuringly while gently embracing her into a hug.

“Yeah, we are and we want you to remember that. You too, Adrien.”

All of them shared one big hug and decided to cuddle on the sofa.

Marinette thought that maybe telling her boyfriends and girlfriend her secret was a good idea after all.
