The Strongest of Us All [ON HIATUS UNTIL MY MENTAL HEALTH DECIDES TO CHILL]

Summary:

As Reid drove home, Morgan, Hotch, J.J, Emily, Rossi, and Garcia; she had been flown out for the case; piled into an SUV, and drove to the bar to celebrate their success, laughing and joking the whole way.

They must not have had any idea that this would be one of the last happy nights they would all share for a while, or else they would've forced Reid to come with them.

Chapter 1: Prologue

Chapter Text

"Morgan, please! I just want to go home okay?" Reid jokingly pleaded with Morgan while they walked off of the jet, finally home.

The case had lasted over a week and they had finally tracked down their unsub. Everyone was feeling victorious, and Morgan suggested that they all go out for drinks to celebrate.

"Pretty. Boy. You've got to come out of your shell a little at some point." Morgan laughed, playfully shoving at Reid.

Reid groaned. "I'm tired okay. Goodnight Morgan.", he turned towards his car and Morgan called out, "Fine! But next time, I'm not giving you the chance to say no!".

"Goodnight Morgan," Reid called back, smiling to himself. After such a long time of being on his own, it was nice to know that he had a group of friends to rely on.

Across town:

Reid pulled into his parking space outside of his apartment complex, sighing as his exhaustion from the last week really started to hit him.

He sluggishly made his way up the stairs, unlocked his door, and stepped inside. Looking up, he was instantly alert seeing a man sitting in his armchair, pointing a gun at his chest.

He froze in his tracks, breath hitching and the man spoke. "Hello, Spencer. You need to come with us." Before Reid could even register what the man meant by us, a second man had already slammed his head into the wall with the butt of his gun, effectively knocking him out.

He slumped onto the ground, a small pool of blood growing under his temple. The men took his wallet, credentials, and gun out of his pockets and threw them in their bags.

Grabbing him, they left, closing the door behind them but leaving it unlocked.
