Work Text:
If there was one thing that Dipper didn’t like hearing, it was the sound of Mabel crying. It was so unnatural, so out of place considering her cheery exterior. But that wasn’t what made his eyes widen with horror when he stepped inside their shared attic bedroom.
It was the sight of Mabel, sewing the sock puppet resembling Gabe into her left wrist. It was a clumsy job, since she’d done the same with the one resembling herself. Tears streaming down her face, she held up her macabre masterpiece and asked him, “Think he’ll like them?”
How desperate can a person really be to win somebody over? Dipper wondered, crossing the distance between the doorway and his sister, pushing everything aside and pulling her into a tight hug.
“T-the stitches were w-wrong. They kept falling off too… s-so I had to fix them,” Mabel explained.
She’d gotten in too deep.
