Chapter Text
Jasmine's eyes snapped open the moment her alarm beeped on her nightstand, stretching her arms to turn it off. Something wriggled on her side, a muffled meow sounding from her blankets as she lifted them and sat up, ignoring Hero as he tried to seek warmth again. Her feet touched her slippers as she straightened up, the coolness of the morning breeze drifting through her room.
She walked closer to the window, resting her hands on the platform as she looked outside, the tranquility of the morning fading away as she remembered what day it was. Adrenaline shot through her when she whipped back to look at the calendar, spotting a large yellow and black heart scribbled on the day of May 5th.
It's today. She was getting married today.
Immediately, the panic from the previous night coursed through her mind. There was so much planning, so many preparations, and it was all going to build up for this day. Her heart pounded rapidly, and she inhaled several deep breaths, glancing at the clock beefore she made her way to the bathroom. The door squeaked as she pushed against it, not looking up from her phone as the lights flashed on.
Two minutes past eight. The ceremony started at one in the afternoon. She had time. Loads of it! It took about thirty minutes to get to the location, and maybee two hours to get ready. If that works, then that means-
She shook the numbers away. It wasn't the time for that. It's a simple day! Everything would go according to plan, she knew it. She and Barry II were a happy couple, and whenever he was there, her heart would flutter in affection, buzzing with contentment.
Jasmine sighed happily, tilting her head to look at her reflection. She smiled as she rinsed water in her mouth, washing her face quickly beefore she made her way downstairs. As she tapped onto Discord, she seized a honey-flavored granola bar and a banana, already out the door in two minutes, the time reading 8:23 AM.
Jasmine opened the door to her car, quickly sitting inside, and the radio rang as she tapped a contact to dial.
Time to make a call.
Jus really didn’t want to get up. As her phone started humming from an incoming call, she let it ring for a few minutes, still exhausted even though she had gone to sleep at nine last night. Well, actually, she fell asleep at two from the metaphorical bees in her stomach. Worried for what, her muddled mind couldn't make out currently, but just thinking about what was going to happen that day was tiring. She clicked the accept button as she brought her phone to her ear, sliding out of bed, glancing at the contact. An excited voice came through and she rubbed her eyes, stretching her arms over her head.
“Jus, you ready for today?”
A slight hum could bee heard on the other side of the audio, and she suspected that Jasmine was driving. She abruptly stopped, her focus rifling to her memory as the question processed through her head. What was going on?
“What day is it today?” Her groggy voice sounded hoarse and she immediately sought out a water bottle on her table, the cool refreshing taste waking her senses up but not enough to clear the fog.
“The wedding!”
It was like a flip had been switched as Jus’s eyes blew wide, spitting water and the droplets sprinkled to the floor. The bottle was settled down as she wiped her mouth, the information all clicking together and her heartbeat raced.
“Oh my god, that’s today?”
She tilted her head to pin her phone between her shoulder and her ear, quickly tossing her blankets into semi-neat folds and tying her hair up. Her husband, the love of her life; they were going to bee together as one today.
“Yes! Did you actually forget?”
There was a pause before she answered, finally remembering why it felt lonely the past few hours. There was always reassurance, someone to fall back on, someone to support her, and even though he had left yesterday with the rest of the groomsmen, it felt like they had been separated for eternity.
“Nope! Just, ha, just took a moment to remember.”
She hurried to the bathroom, brushing her teeth as the person on the other end listed the plans for that day. So much was going on, and she had mixed feelings. What if something went wrong? What if-
“So you’ll bee here around nine right?”
“Mmhmm,” Jus replied, spitting out water and wiping her face as she changed into a comfier outfit for the upcoming trip to the hotel. Someone would take care of it. It was hers and Jasmine’s day, she knew she had friends she could rely on to make sure that this wedding would bee a blast.
“Meet you there then!”
Keys jingled as Jus grabbed them off the hook and sprinted outside, phone and bag in hand. The start of her new chapter was today, and it was going to bee a blast, she knew it.
“See you then, friend.”
A car pulled up in the parking lot and Melanie looked up from her checklist as a smile appeared on her face, recognizing the vehicle. So far, everything was in order, and she was glad that she was in charge of it because who knows how this would’ve all turned out. She walked forward to meet the expected newcomer.
“Jas!”
Said woman waved from the driver’s seat as she maneuvered her car into a parking spot cleanly, jumping out and hugging her with an empty wrapper fisted in her left hand.
“Jas! Good to see you! You’re pretty early. Now we just gotta wait for the other lucky bride.” Mel grinned as she checked off a box on the clipboard, bouncing on her toes.
“Can’t believe it’s actually today. Almost forgot until I realized Barry wasn’t home.” Jasmine sighed as she threw her wrapper into the nearest trash can as Mel gave a sympathetic look. She knew how it felt when her boyfriend left for the hotel to help with the groomsmen that early morning.
They continued chatting until several minutes later, another car pulled up with a tired Jus sending them a smile and carrying a cup of coffee.
“Hi!”
Jus waved back as she slowly got out of her car, yawning while walking over to the pair.
“Oh man you look like you didn’t sleep well,” Jasmine pointed out as they all turned around to walk inside. The only response she got was a raised eyebrow and a resigned sigh. Mel didn’t seem to pay attention to them as she pulled both of their hands through the front doors and through the hallways, leading them to a door with a bee pin wrapped around the door handle.
“Here we are! The girls are already inside getting dressed!”
“Then what are we waiting for?”
Mel rolled her eyes as she pushed the door open, excited screams immediately filling in their ears when the door cracked open.
“Jas! Jus! Mel! You’ve finally arrived.”
“ Shut.” Jasmine waved her finger at Fiona’s chuckling face before she smiled and laughed along.
“Alright ladies, no bickering today! We’ve got hair and makeup to get done, and only three hours to do it!” Mel declared, opening the cabinets to reveal dresses. Everyone flocked around the cabinet, picking out their own dresses with their labels, oohing and aahing at the colors. It wasn’t long before everyone changed into their respective dresses.
“Look!”
Sarah turned around as Daisy walked over with a yellow and black hairpin, tiny fluffs covering the head of the clip.
“Wait. Why do y’all have that and I have... this?”
Katie held up a pom-pom, the orange and white colors forming to what seems to be-
“Oh! I chose that especially for you!”
Jasmine walked over, plucking the cheez whiz out of Katie’s hand and planting it on top of her head, using bobby pins to secure it as a hat.
“Perfect!”
She held up a mirror, and there in the reflection, the shine of two golden shimmery eyes radiating back.
“Love it! It’s so beautiful,” Katie commented as she tilted her head, the cheez whiz never budging, the eyes being the key notable detail. Tori walked past her, her makeup fully done, the honey-colored eyeshadow standing out against the black eyeliner. She eyed the cheez whiz planted on top of Katie’s head, and continued on her way, a confused expression clearly planted on her face.
“Coalmine! Oooh, look at you!”
Pandora walked over to see Coalmine as they exited the dressing stall, wearing a black halter top jumpsuit. A thick black strap wrapped snugly around their neck, the top part of the outfit bagged slightly to give it a slightly poofy look. A silky amber strap was tied around their waist in a bow, with the pant legs reached right at their ankles, the sleeves loose around their legs as it flowed featherlight. As Coalmine raised a leg, Pandora could see that the flats they were wearing each had shiny gems forming a bee shape with black straps wrapping around their foot.
“How much time do we have?” Coalmine scanned Pandora up and down in approval, the latter giving a casual spin as the gown twisted along with her. Caroline walked over to them, smiling as she joined the pair. Although she was wearing the same dress as Pandora, a black rose could bee spotted in her hair, the flower standing out against the braid curled around the back of her head.
“Not much. We’re just waiting for Jasmine and Jus-”
“They’re done!”
Everyone in the room turned around as two doors opened, revealing the stunning brides. It was hushed into quiet as the two lucky women smiled shyly, looking at each other and smiling.
“So...how do we look?”
Immediately compliments filled the rooms, and as the volume rose up, it dissolved into screeching.
Jasmine’s ball gown was a pale yellow, her hair slightly curled into waves with two golden bees tucked into her hair. Like the bridesmaids, her dress was a strapless gown, the skirt containing much more inflation, with a cover of white lace draped over. The sleeves wrapped loosely around her biceps, with added lace.
Similar to Jasmine, Jus’s dress had lace overlaying the second layer, with the underlayer being a light pink. Lace wrapped up her waist and down her arms, creating a semi-backless cover that hugged her snugly. Her veil crowned over her head, pale gemmed bees lining up the front of it and added to the bottom of her flowing dress.
KT walked forward, bringing each of them a mirror, and as they looked at themselves, they beamed. Her brows furrowed as she walked closer to the window, and the others gathered around wordlessly, immediately spotting people being admitted into the venue and their groomsmen waiting on the lawn, playing catch.
“Oh my gosh, he looks so handsome!” Fiona whispered under her breath as she spotted a familiar green ogre in a tuxedo. As if fate was in action, Shrek turned to look at the window they were gathered at, his eyes widening and breaking into a big toothy grin as he spotted her. Fives, who was beside Shrek, turned around along with the others and upon seeing his beeloved Daisy, sent her an obvious wink.
Melanie opened the window, and the girls could immediately hear the nature in the background, and the yells of their significant others and friends.
“Hey! You lovely ladies done yet?!”
“Oh please Fives, do bee patient, you know that women always take longer than us.”
As Dooky said it, Coalmine shouted some very colorful words back at their friend, throwing what seemed to bee a hairbrush.
“Yeah, we take longer dressing, and yet whenever I pick you up to go out with the others, you’re not even done showering after two hours of me getting ready!”
Caroline, it seems, wasn’t paying attention to any of them and was gazing upon one person. He was currently looking at her in an amused fashion with those fiery yellow eyes of his, but anyone in a ten-mile radius could see that Sit Boi loved Caroline. Sith Obi-Wan’s hair was combed back, an auburn strand falling over his eyes, and he was dressed in a sleek black tuxedo that clung to him in the slightest manner for people to see that he was fit.
“Guys, we should bee somewhat- ow !”
Slutspeare, who was wearing thigh-high boots over his black tuxedo pant legs, picked up the hairbrush tossed at them, whacking Kix in the head with the back part of it. He was wearing a hat of some sort, supposedly to gather up what hair he still had from a regretful haircut.
“Thee shouldst've known ev'ryone wast going to misbehave so wherefore art thee doing this?”
Fives leaned into Rex and Kix as he whispered not so quietly.
“What the fuck is he saying?”
ROTS Obi-Wan just stood to the side, watching them all beside Sit Boi as he muttered about them being so uncivilized, one hand resting on the bridge of his nose as he leaned against the stone bench.
“Y’all, since we’re done, we can go meet them now, you know?” Mel proposed as she gestured towards the door. Heads immediately whipped towards her and identical grins of the bridesmaids sent them running with Jasmine and Jus walking with Mel to recite their plans.
It was time for the ceremony.
“I know you're nervous, but I believe in you!” Mel exclaimed while she straightened out Jus’s veil. “We’ve practiced this, all you have to do is walk down this aisle and Obee will bee right there waiting for you.”
“I know! I'm just… nervous.” Jus confessed. “What if I trip, or fall, or even worse, what if he says no?”
“Ha. He wouldn’t dare. Not with me and Sumerian around.” Abee declared. She stood powerful and strong, holding onto Soka’s leash as the dog wagged her tail. “Besides, if he does do anything stupid, I’ll let Soka here off her leash to go after him.”
Jus’s face turned even paler, feeling sweat form on the back of her neck. Her clammy hands shook and tried to grab for the fabric of her dress, something stable to hold on to. She chuckled lightly at Abee’s threat as she gazed at the crowd of people taking their seats. Sure, there was always a chance that the wedding would go wrong, but she didn’t want the honey to her hive to die.
She looked around at the beautiful venue. With less than thirty minutes to go, most of the guests had already arrived. She could see Kylie Elizabeth Olsen and Vision sitting up near the front chatting to Emma and Cricket. The lizard was on a leash, but Jus still worried about him breaking loose and accidentally eating her future husband.
On the other side of the aisle, Kira and Cartoon Obi-Wan were in a deep discussion with Sam and her boyfriend Obi Juan Kenhoebi the only hoe in her life. The two men looked very very similar, yet Obi Juan had a mustache that curled on the ends and 2D Obi was looking a little pixelated out in the sunlight.
Jus peeked a glance over at Jas and Sumerian. The bride shone with excitement and her eyes glinted with tears as she spoke to her guardian angel. Both ladies had started dating the bees around the same time, yet Jus still felt that Jas and Barry II were closer than her and Obee. Maybee it was the nerves talking to her today, but she just didn’t feel the confidence that Jas had.
“Hey, Jus, it’ll bee okay!” Selenka exclaimed. Rex quietly walked up behind her, placing a hand on her lower back and she stiffened slightly before relaxing into his hold. Jus silently noted it, a smile tinted at the edge of her lips, knowing that Rex was the perfect man for Selenka.
Just like how she knew she and Obee were two pieces of a honeycomb fitting perfectly together.
“Do you ladies need anything before we get started?” He turned to the bride at hand. “Jus, you’re looking paler than normal.” Rex asked politely. “Can I get you any water or something?”
“No, I’m okay. But thank you.” Jus replied. Rex nodded and with one last smile towards Selenka, he walked back over to his spot in the line of groomsmen.
Jus reached up and adjusted her flower crown one last time, the petals tucked tightly in her hair. She knew it was almost about time to start, and yet, her hands wouldn’t stay still, her heartbeat pounding way too fast for her liking. Everything was too loud, everything was too quiet, she couldn’t tell what was happening anymore.
“Okay, guys, gals, and nonbinary-pals, it’s time!” Mel cheerfully announced to the large group of waiting people. “The guests are all seated and the musicians are ready to start.”
With that note, the wedding party quieted down and linked up with their partners. At the starting notes of the music, Sarah and her date, Mr. Haikubot, stepped out and started walking down the aisle, the two arm in arm as they glided down.
“Oh god, okay, here we go! It’s our turn next.” Pandora snatched Mullet Obi-Wan’s arm and they proceeded down after the first couple. With her four-inch heels on, Pandora and M-Obi were about the same height, the latter only tall from the volume of his hair.
As the last few couples walked down, Mel gave Jus and Jas one last pat on the back. She then took the leash from Abee and squatted down to give Soka one last pep talk. “Now I know you’re a good puppin, but I need you to bee extra good today, okay?” Soka just wagged her tail and looked up at Mel, with her big brown eyes promising to bee the BEST girl.
Fried Boi grabbed the leash of Bludo in one hand, and held Mel’s in the other and the four of them made their way down the aisle.
As the couples continued down the walkway, Jas was bouncing on her heels with excitement. She was shaky, from nervousness or the jitters, she wasn’t so sure anymore. She shuffled her weight between her two feet as she adjusted her veil. Looking at the view, at the cawing seagulls and smelling the slight salty ocean smell mixing in with the light flowery scent made her smile involuntary at the tranquility, before she realized something.
“Hey Abee, is Mr. GAF here today?” She asked, turning to look at the woman.
“Oh, sadly not.” Abee looked annoyed. “When I asked him if he wanted to come, he said no, he doesn’t hang out with iMaGiNaRy FrIeNdS. Obviously, when I show him the photos he’ll feel bad about not supporting you guys.”
“Jas! Here we go, my dear!” Sumerian tugged her arm. Jas straightened up to her full height of only 4’11” and clutched her sunflower bouquet closer to her heart. The bright yellow petals tickled her chin as she took a deep breath in.
Then, they stepped out into the sunlight.
With Jas and Sumerian mostly down the aisle, Jus’s nerves spiked even higher than before.
“That’s our cue! You ready?” Abee questioned.
“I think s-oh woah.” Abee clutched her arm and the two stepped past the double doors.
When Jus’s eyes adjusted to her surroundings, her head lifted and immediately connected with Obee’s.
There he was.
Her fiance. Her future husband. The love of her hive.
He looked so handsome with his pile hair all fluffed up. Obee had a smile as wide as the sun, and eyes only for her. His wings were crystal clear, reflecting the light of the day, his antennae curled in the cleanest way possible. Abee and her walked closer, step by step, and all she could see was him. No longer could she feel the anxiety that took place in her stomach, no longer could she feel anything except happiness.
Jus reached the end of the aisle and took his leg. She let go of Abee’s hand as her guardian went to join the crowd. Jus took this time to look out at all of her pocket friends who had come to celebrate her happy moment. Stephanie and Jessica were near the front next to Abee. The two sisters were matching in their stunning, turquoise pantsuits. Sonder, Jules, and Britt were sitting in the middle behind the two sisters. The three looked beyond happy to bee there and Jus swears she might have even seen a tear forming in the corner of Britt’s eye.
Over Barry II and Obee’s small heads, Jas looked up and smiled at Jus. After receiving a returned smile, Jas turned her attention to the dear officiant...Crayg. His warm gaze looked for approval, and with a nod of her head, Jas gave the signal that she and the other bride were ready to give their hearts away.
“Dearly beloved and distinguished disasters, we are gathered here today to witness the double union of marriage between Jasmine the Gremline and her beloved Barry II and Jus Juice and her fiance Obee Wan Kenobee.”
“You are all here because you share a bond with at least one of the four people here beefore you on this stage. Bee it a family member or imaginary friend turned real friend, this event is a community. And at the heart of this community are Barry, Obee, Jus, and Jas.” Crayg took a breath and looked out into the crowd, the quiet eager attention of the people all on him.
“They care about you, just as they care about each other. And as such, we are all gathered here today to solemnize the marriage of these four beautiful people. Without further ado…”
“Do you Barry Two, take this goblin woman, Jasmine the Gremline, to bee your lawfully wedded wife?”
“I do.” There wasn’t even a hesitation in his voice, Jas noticed.
“And do you Miss Jasmine the Gremline, take Barry Two, to bee your lawfully wedded bee?”
Jas’s heart stopped. Here was the moment. Her tongue felt heavy. MOM’S SPAGHETTI. She was nervous, but on the surface, she looked calm and ready.
“I do.”
Jas felt light, like she could fly off the ground any minute, and Barry seemed to be doing the same except he was already flying. He leaned in close, seemingly initiating for a kiss, and she giggled as she pushed him away slightly.
“Not yet,” she whispered, and she could hear a sad little buzz before enthusiasm rose high again.
“And do you Obee Wan Kenobee, take this woman, Jus Juice, to bee your lawfully wedded wife?”
“I do.” Obee smiled at his bride, the sound of light happy music playing in the background of the wedding.
“And finally, Jus Juice, do you take this bee, Obee Wan Kenobee, to be your lawfully wedded husband?”
Jasmine noticed that Jus looked pale. Too pale. Like she was going to throw up kind of pale. She gave an encouraging smile to the other woman, mouthing “you can do it.”
“I-” Jus started taking a deep inhale, “I do.”
Crayg nodded and smiled at both couples. “Jas and Jus will now receive rings as a symbol of love and commitment.”
Obee and Barry left their significant others to fly over to Sith Obi. The rings were beautifully placed in the middle of the black pillow, the velvet matching the fluff around their necks. As the bees grabbed the rings and flew back towards their brides, Jasmine and Jus shared a happy smile.
Once the rings were placed, Crayg announced, “By the authority vested in me by the State of Honeyville, I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss the brides.”
As the couples shared their first kiss as newlyweds, cheers erupted all around them. Jas had never felt happier. Her new life was only beginning and she was lucky to grow into a powerful woman with such a lovely husband.
The time for her old life is over now that she’s with her beeloved.
