Summary
Evelyn Moore was born in 1922 to loving parents and five older brothers in New York City. All her older brothers serve in the military and her life changes when her oldest is killed December 7th, 1941 in the attack on Pearl Harbor. Determined to join the cause, Evelyn drops out of medical school and enlists as a nurse against her parents wishes.
Fast forward nearly two years and Evie is a combat nurse with the 107 and she's still drowning in grief alone for her oldest brother. The rest of her brothers are scattered around the world, fighting for the United States. The only person that can pull her out is a new draftee with a charming smile named Sergeant Barnes, who is determined to make friends with Evie and make her happy again.
