Dream sat there on the floor with his back pressed against the bottom of the couch, eyeing the tv. Well, the black screen of the tv. It was frustrating, to say the least. The power was out because of the dumbass storm. The only light that he had was from the candles he lit throughout the house.
The only thing that was heard for miles was the hard pitter-patter of the raindrops hitting the pavement outside. That was until thunder shook the neighbourhood making car alarms go off. Dream groaned throwing his head back against the cushions.
The only reason he was out in the living room was because of George. George was still out, out in the storm. Dream was waiting for him. He should've been home like 20 minutes ago but of course, he probably got lost. His fault for saying he wanted to go to the store alone when he had only been in Florida for about a week. And George being his stubborn self obviously wasn't going to call Dream and ask for help. That would only prove Dream right that he needed him, to begin with.
So of course he kept screaming at his GPS while the hard rain hit his windshield. The wrong turn after the wrong turn he ultimately got to the street of the house they were staying in. "Fucking finally" George felt like crying in happiness after all his failed attempts of coming home. He quickly parked the car in the driveway, grabbed the bags from the store, and did his best to run to the door without slipping.
He did slip once or twice from the wet ground while trying to dig his keys out of his pocket. Right as he was about to unlock the door it swung open and he was met with the annoyed expression that belonged to Dream. Dream looked George up and down before taking the bags from his arms and walking away, leaving the door open.
George stood there for a moment just staring into the candlelit house. "Close the damn door you're gonna blow out the candles, George" Dream shouted from the kitchen. George quickly stepped in, shutting the door with his foot and shrugging his wet coat off. George kicked his shoes off and stepped onto the carpet floor deciding to stay in the living room to give Dream some space.
He was obviously annoyed with George since he didn't call and ask him for help. In any other situation, Dream wouldn't have cared, maybe just made fun of him for fucking up and laughing about how long it took him to get home when the store was less than 10 minutes away from where they lived.
But George decided it was such a smart idea to go out when he knew there was going to be a storm. And not only that but all by himself, he didn't ask for help when he knew he needed it. So yeah he was a bit annoyed with the stupid decision the brunet made but could you blame him, he could've gotten injured. Especially since this was the first time he's endured a Florida storm. It was stupid of him and he should've just let Dream come with him.
Dream quickly put all the groceries away and walked back into the living room, seeing George sitting right where he had been moments ago with his eyes closed and head pressing against the cushion behind him.
"You're incredibly dumb" Dream voice interrupted George's quiet thoughts and he slowly lifted his head to look in Dream's direction. "I know you're upset but-" "No George you could've really gotten hurt but you let your ego get in the way of your safety you should've let me come with you or at least called me so I could guide you back" Dream began waving his hands while he spoke.
"But I'm fine, Dream, It's okay, I'm fine" Dream rolled his eyes and moved toward the man on the floor. George pulled his legs up under himself so he was now sitting criss-cross and turned his head toward Dream, who plopped himself next to George and outstretched his legs.
"I know but you could've gotten hurt and I don't like that, George" He responded. George turned his head and watched Dream's side profile. A small sigh escaped his lips, He let his eyes flutter shut for a moment before turning his head to look at George straight. "Just promise next time you'll let me come with you or at least call me so I know you're alright" His tone was soft, his eyes were even softer.
"I will, Dream, promise" George nodded and Dream nodded back. "Pinky swear" Dream tried to stay serious, sticking his pinky out to the brunet. George let out a small giggle which caused the blond to repeat his actions. "Yeah, pinky swear" George locked his pinky around Dream's and shook it. They both giggled at their childish antics, unlocking their hands from each other and just watched each other's smiles.
They fell into a comfortable silence, studying each other while letting their brains rack up random thoughts until George finally spoke up, after a few minutes of complete silence beside the light tapping of the rain surrounding them.
"Your hair is getting quite long" George turned his body so he could prop his arm upon the cushions of the couch. "Is it?" Dream ran his fingers through it making some pieces fall out of place. "Yeah, it's nice, suits you" George smiled fondly, brushing a small piece from the blond's forehead. His eyes traced George's hand as he did and then flicked back to his eyes. "Sorry" George pulled his hand away and Dream shook his head. "No-No it's alright" They both paused for a moment before George interrupted the silence once again.
"Do you ever think about like-"George shifted in his position and Dream's eyes stayed trained on the brunet. "What it would be like if we never decided to move in with each other?" George watched Dream's hands in his lap, fidgeting every now and then.
"Um, yeah, sometimes I wonder what it would be like if we just didn't talk about it or if you never told me you were ready" He hummed and George just nodded. "I'm glad we did decide to do it. I like it here" George looked back up to his face and he seemed to have been watching George's hand in his own lap, playing with the fabric of his pants.
"In America?" Dream tilted his head in confusion, George let out a small sigh of content. He let his tongue drag over his dry lips, the rain outside was a nice background noise for this moment. George looked back toward the window seeing the rainwater drip down the glass before looking back at Dream. "Of course in America but I meant here, in this house, with you" George mumbled and Dream just gave a little smile.
He brought his hand up to the side of George's face and gently pushed some damp hair behind his ear. His hair had been getting longer too. Dream felt him slightly lean into the touch, his eyes traced George's face lightly. There was something so delicate about it. Something always delicate and warm though his hands were mostly always cold. "Dream" Dream looked back into his eyes, his gaze faltered as if he was nervous. "yes?" George had a look of hesitation before he spoke.
"I really need you to kiss me right now" George whispered, if Dream hadn't been right there in front of him, he wouldn't have heard him. Dream smiled, feeling warm throughout his chest. "Yeah?" he nodded, running his finger up the brunet's jawline. "Yeah" George repeated looking from Dream's lips to his eyes.
Dream slowly leaned in and stopped right before their lips touched at all. They could feel each other's breath on their lips as Dream cupped George's jaw gently. George let out a slightly whiney "please" and Dream immediately pushed his lips on the brunets, George's arm coming off the couch to hold Dream's neck securely.
Dream pulled back slowly after a long second and George just chased his lips carefully. Dream smiled carefully kissing his lips once more before hovering over his mouth. Thunder cracked again throughout the neighbourhood catching George off guard at how loud it was, making him jump and Dream chuckle at the man's expression.
George's hands slipped from the blond's neck and back into his lap. Dream ran his thumb over George's cheekbone soothingly as George reached out for the end of Dream's shirt. Pinching the fabric between his fingers. "You might need to go take a shower" Dream threaded his hand through George's still damp hair. "Yeah you're probably right, just a minute though," George told him finally meeting the blond's gaze again.
"Okay" Dream responded moving his hand from George's hair to the arm that was holding his shirt. He gently pulled his closer, guiding him to sit in his lap. George sat so each leg was on the side of Dream's and then nuzzled his head in the blond's neck, holding him close. Dream followed suit and wrapped his arms around George's middle. Holding him firmly but gently. Dream sighed happily and George just smiled, closing his eyes to soak in the warmth from the man under him. George squeezed tighter and Dream reciprocated his actions.
They stayed like that until George's hair was just about dry, Dream eventually made George go upstairs and take a shower. The storm didn't die down until hours later but that didn't stop the pair from tangling themselves together on the couch while Dream traced patterns into the skin of George's lower back. They talked about the kiss, their feelings and came to the only thing they could come to which ended in Dream peppering kisses all over George's face and the sound of his giggles bouncing off the walls of the house, their house.
They did agree to call their friends to share the good news, ultimately deciding to call Sapnap first. The ringing had unnerved them until Sapnap finally picked up throwing apologies left and right. The couple assured him that it was okay before making conversation, finally after 20 minutes of just talking about random things they decided to just get to the point of why they called him in the first place. "So I don't really know how to say this but me and George are- well we're-" Dream started, looking at George for support while the brunet nodded.
"Dating! Knew it, Karl owes me 20 bucks" Sapnap cheered in victory before Dream could even finish his sentence.
