Chapter Text
Nagisa was used to waking up with arms wrapped around him – perks of sleeping in the middle, he guessed – what he wasn’t used to, was waking up feeling as though his air supply was being cut-off.
“Nagi.” Oh, that explained it. He glanced down at the man snuggled against his chest, and lifted a hand – the one that wasn’t currently being crushed – to press against his forehead. Just as he’d thought, he was burning up.
“Karma, I need to get up.” He murmured softly, wheezing when the arms tightened around him. Well, there goes that plan. He glances up when he hears the door open, Kaede stands there smiling at him, traitor.
“Some help would be appreciated.” He deadpanned, mock-glaring when she laughed at him. The smile didn’t quite leave her face as she walked over, but at least now he could see the water and medicine in her hand. He still would’ve appreciated being woken up before he ended up being a human body pillow.
“Karma?” She murmured, gently running her fingers through his hair when he let out a muffled groan. “You need to let Nagisa up.”
“No.” The redhead whined, somehow managing to nuzzle closer. Nagisa quirked a brow, plan B? Kaede caught his gaze and nodded.
“Karma?” The man huffed before tilting his head slightly to look at her. “Do you want something to eat?” He stared at her for a long moment before nodding tiredly. “Okay, then you need to let Nagisa up.”
“But, Nagi.” He couldn’t feel his arm.
“Nagisa’s the only one who can actually cook, Karma.” Kaede reasoned. “If you let him up, we can snuggle all you want while he makes some food.” The redhead perked up slightly before narrowing his eyes, it looked more like he was about to go to sleep than an actual glare, but it got the point across.
“Promise?” Kaede nodded, ruffling his hair gently.
“I Promise.” The redhead lifted up slowly. Nagisa barely managed not to gasp for air as he slid out of bed, stumbling slightly while the blood flow returned to his leg. He watched as Kaede perched on the edge of the bed, only for a pair of arms to snake around her and pull her down. He couldn’t resist a brief snort when he heard the squawk she let out, the pillow that bounced off his face was worth it.
He didn’t both shutting the door when he left the room, not really wanting to try opening it while he was holding a hot bowl again. The blood flow had mostly returned to his arm when he reached the kitchen, and he quickly set about getting everything he needed.
Soup was fairly easy to make, but the waiting wasn’t exactly fun. He idly flicked through one of the magazines Sugino had left behind when he last visited, keeping an eye on the timer so he could turn it off before it disturbed the others. He caught it a few seconds before. He dished it up quickly, pouring the rest in a separate bowl to be heated up later.
The sight he returned to was a rather amusing one, he had to bite his lip to stop himself from laughing. They were lying on their sides, the redhead’s arms wrapped around Kaede’s middle while his face was pressed against the back of her neck, but that wasn’t what he found funny. No, that would be the expression on their girlfriend’s face while she made a visible effort not to move, was that what he’d looked like earlier? Maybe.
“Karma, food’s ready.” The redhead blinked blearily at him before moving to sit up, Kaede moving to help him while Nagisa walked over.
He kept one hand on the bowl to keep it steady while the taller boy ate, despite his grumbled protests. The last time he’d let the taller man hold it himself, they’d ended up spending at least half an hour trying to clean it up, that wasn’t exactly something any of them were in a hurry to deal with again.
He set the bowl aside when the redhead was done with it, he’d put it away properly later. He checked the other man’s temperature again, it wasn’t as bad as it was earlier but it still wasn’t exactly ideal.
“Do you want your medicine now or do you want to try a shower first?” He asked, showering while sick wasn’t exactly pleasant but it’d help bring his temperature down a bit. The younger man nodded before pushing himself to his feet…well, attempting to at least. The two of them guided him over to the restroom, it was slightly difficult with his height but they managed.
“I’ll handle this if you want to find him a change of clothes?” Nagisa offered, smiling slightly when Kaede nodded before hurrying back to their room.
Actually getting him in the shower was easier than he thought it would be. The redhead managed the shower itself, but he had to help him dry off and get changed.
“Come on, let’s get you back in bed.” He stumbled slightly when Karma slumped against him. Nagisa somehow managed to get him back to the room without dropping him, he wasn’t entirely sure how he’d managed it but decided not to question it too much.
Getting him settled was easy enough, though he did have to dodge the arm that attempted to grab him. He smiled apologetically, there would be time for snuggling later.
“You ready for your medicine?” Kaede asked, perching on Karma’s other side. The redhead huffed before holding a hand out, swallowing down the medicine and water with a grimace.
“Can we snuggle now?” The redhead whined, pouting at them while he tried to keep his eyes open, the two of them smiled fondly at him. As much as they hated seeing him sick, it was kind of amusing seeing how he acted, especially compared to the image he usually tried to maintain.
“Sure.” Kaede smiled before lying down. Nagisa slipped the glass out of the taller man’s hand, placing it down next to the empty bowl before settling on his other side. The grip around them wasn’t as vice-like as earlier, but it was clear they wouldn’t be getting out of it anytime soon. The two of them would probably be sick tomorrow, but they couldn’t bring themselves to care.
