Chapter Text

Almost an hour had passed since he’d finished ranting about his ex, when Kyungsoo finally turned on the movie after patiently waiting by his laptop to press play. They had been in voiceless agreement that Baekhyun was done ranting. Movie time was movie time—Kyungsoo, Baekhyun knew, wouldn’t appreciate him interrupting the story. And he didn’t feel the need to. Not, at least, until the male and female leads, in a dramatic moment of tears and confession, kissed.

The sound that came out of his mouth was involuntary. So was his comment: “How could she be so rude?”

Kyungsoo sighed. “Should I pause the movie?”

“No. But how could she? It’s one thing to break up with me. But she has to say it’s because she thinks I’m into guys?”

“Maybe she was just defensive,” Kyungsoo said with a shrug. “People say things they shouldn’t when they get emotional.”

It was meant to sound consoling, but Baekhyun knew he really just wanted him to shut up. Still, he couldn’t resist. “Who cares if she’s being emotional? She was breaking up with me! So I have to forgive her because he’s upset when she tells me she doesn’t want to date me anymore because I’m gay, and what kind of reason is that anyway? I was dating a girl. I liked a girl. In what way does that make me—“

Baekhyun knew Kyungsoo was reaching his limit by the third sentence, but he didn’t think he would act by grabbing the front of his shirt and yanking him down. Before he could blink their lips had already met.

“Mmrph?!”

A number of thoughts ran through his head at that moment.

1. His roommate was kissing him.
2. He’d just broken up with his girlfriend because she thought he was gay and now he was kissing his guy friend.
3. Kyungsoo’s lips were really, really soft.

Baekhyun almost kissed him back instinctively. But the moment was over before it started. Pushing him back, Kyungsoo wiped his lips with his sleeve, face red. “You are so annoying.”

It took him a moment to find his voice. “W- what?”

“So what if she called you gay? It’s not like that’s a bad thing.”

Baekhyun spluttered. “I’m not saying it’s a bad thing. I just- I’m really confused right now? What just—“

“Oh my god,” Kyungsoo said. “Shut up.”

“Are you...?”

“Just forget what happened. Actually, you know what? Nothing happened. You imagined this whole thing.” Kyungsoo picked up the chemistry textbook that was lying on the coffee table in front of them. He lifted it. “It’s all a dream.”

“Wait. What are you doing with that?” Baekhyun scrambled back. There was absolutely no hesitation in Kyungsoo’s movement as he swung. Luckily, Baekhyun was faster—he grabbed his arm and ducked just in case, but when the former proved to be enough he took his textbook from Kyungsoo’s grasp and tossed it to the floor. “Were you trying to murder me?!”

“Damn,” Kyungsoo muttered.

“Why did you kiss me?”

“We’re missing the movie.”

Baekhyun pulled his arm to him when he tried to turn away. “We can play it back.”

“Why does it matter why I kissed you? You aren’t gay.” He said the latter part like a scoff. Then he said, “I kissed you because you were annoying me.”

“And you usually kiss people who annoy you?”

Kyungsoo stared at him. “Are you stupid?”

“I don’t know how to take that.”

“Did you like it?” Kyungsoo asked suddenly. His cheeks were dusted pink, but he said it forcefully. “Or were you disgusted by it?”

Baekhyun froze. His hand loosened a fraction with his surprise. “I wasn’t. Disgusted by it.”

“So did you like it or not?”

He swallowed. There was a long breath of silence as they sat in the question. “I guess I did.”

At that, Kyungsoo’s eyes flitted upward. “You...”

“It was nice,” Baekhyun said. He cleared his throat. Then he did it again. He was aware, suddenly, of their proximity, of Kyungsoo’s skin underneath his fingertips, and of the heat creeping up his neck. “I mean, your lips were really soft and...”

That seemed to wake Kyungsoo up. He shifted closer. Nervously, Baekhyun shifted back. But he couldn’t escape his roommate’s advances, finding himself inches away from his lips yet again. Except Kyungsoo stopped a breath away.

“Kiss me,” Kyungsoo said.

“What?”

But he was moving in already, and Kyungsoo barely was able to say, “If you liked it, kiss me...” when he leaned forward and did.

They kissed slowly. It was experimental, but not Baekhyun’s first exactly, so he wanted and knew to tilt his head, fitting their lips snugly together. Kyungsoo’s were full and soft. Addicting to feel against his own lips. “Oh god,” Baekhyun said, pulling away a fraction, “I am gay.”

“I’m honored to be the catalyst to your discovery,” Kyungsoo said. He sounded a little breathless, his hands on his shoulders. “I support you.”

“No, but you don’t get it.” He was breathless too. “I’m gay for you.”

Kyungsoo smiled, and, fuck, he really was. “Your girlfriend is going to be so pissed.”

“She isn’t my girlfriend anymore,” Baekhyun said, pulling him in again. Had he always felt like this? Maybe, yeah. In the back of his mind. But never so clearly before. “So be my boyfriend instead.”

Comically, Kyungsoo looked smug, even as he leaned in too. “Okay.”
