Summary:

Day 1 : College AU

In a ginormous college in '85, two men are left with a choice. Do they speak out about their feelings with one another? Or do they keep it to themselves and wish for the best?

(See the end of the work for notes.)

Work Text:

Time? 7:45 AM.

Date? The 29 of October, in 1985.

And in the midst of the bright sun and white clouds, lies a college full of adults.

College.

The one thing Sapnap hated the most.

It was always too noisy, annoying, repetitive . Staying up night after night, drinking disgusting brands of energy drinks to stay up to handle bountiful amounts of work.

The only people helping him through were Dream, George, and Quackity. Crazy people at 2 in the morning, but great help when he needs them the most.

And that’s why-

“Hey! Sapnap! My man!” A voice boomed down the hall, creeping closer and closer to the student.

“What is i-“ A sharp pain from a hand clasping down on his shoulder made him wince. “ Ow! The hell Quackity! What do you want?” He slapped away the hand and replaced it with his own.

A laugh sparked from the dark brunet, fixing the ball cap that covered his apparently ‘bad haircut’. “Chill dude—I was just wondering if you wanted to show the new kid around. He should be here already.”

“Another new kid? I couldn’t even handle your stupid ass when you first came here.” Sapnap smirked, fixing the white tie that wrapped around his forehead—the blazer of his outfit swung over his shoulder. “Why’d you ask me anyways? You know I hate new people.”

“Well,” Quackity rocked on his heels, fumbling with his navy blue lanyard and almost hitting a kid in the side as he twirled it. “You’ll get to skip all your classes, which will be counted as excused.”

But-

Quackity held a finger up.

And- “ He grinned. “I know Mr. Jones would be lenient on that Art exam.”

Sapnap let out a groan and huffed. “ Fine! Where’s the kid supposed to be?”

“Front of the building, Niki said she’s giving him his keys to his dorm and the map around here.” Quackity picked at his nails subconsciously, staring at his friend. “But she wants someone to tour him.”

“Alright, thanks.” Sapnap pushed himself off the wall and hit Quackity’s hands. “‘Nd stop pickin’ at your nails. They’ll hurt like hell if they break.” He said, pulling down the front of the ball cap to cover his friend’s eyes—a small laugh leaving each of their mouths.

“Fine fine, now go .”

“Not until you promise me you wont p-“

“I promise! Go! ” Quackity laughed again, shoving his friend away.

Sapnap shook his head and smiled, his hand running across his growing beard as he stepped down the large hall—gazing out at the large glass doors.

He fumbled with his pocket, pulling out a Jolly Rancher and soon popping it into his mouth—throwing the wrapper on the floor.

Watermelon , he thought. My favorite.

He strolled down the hall and hummed to himself—swirling the hard candy in his mouth, not caring that it caused a loud noise when bumping against his teeth.

“Sapnap!” A voice called.

“Hey Niki,” He held a hand up for a moment, clasping it around his satchel’s sling. “How’s it goin’?”

“Good! How are you?”

He drew out a sigh. “Same old. Same old.” He replied, chewing down on the last bit of the Jolly Rancher—swallowing it down and flipping his hair out of his face.

Niki let out a small laugh. “ Anyways ,” she gestured to the man in front of her. “This is Karl Jacobs. He’s new here, are you supposed to be showing him around?”

“Hi!” Karl smiled, holding out his hand. “Nice to meet you!”

Sapnap looked down at the hand for a moment. Freckles and some slight scars on each knuckle seemed to be prominent in the sun. Silver and gold rings shimmered brightly.

He scoffed slightly and looked back up at the cloudy grey eyes that met his. “Yeah whatever.” He clicked his tongue and turned around. “Let’s go. Not waitin’ for you.”

He stepped down the hall, waving a hand to Niki before watching Karl run and match his pace. “So,” the brunet started. “Where are you from?”

“Texas.”

“Majoring?”

“Art.”

“Fam-“

Sapnap let out a groan and ran his hands through his hair. “ Please stop asking questions. You’re gettin’ annoying.”

Karl pursed his lips slightly and nodded, picking at his nails and removing bits of nail polish.

The Texan glanced over at him. “Stop doing that.”

“Doing what?”

“Nails. They’ll break.”

“And?” Karl sighed. “If I don’t take this crap off I’m definitely getting looks.” He laughed.

“So?” Sapnap leaned on a wall. “Who gives a shit? I wear rings sometimes and all I get called is a faggot or a snowflake —nothing new and nothing old.”

The brunet stared at him for a moment, mouth open only a few centimeters—taken back by the comment. “You think I should keep the polish?”

“Whatever ya want, Jacobs.” The raven said. “Just don’t be all noisy about it—that’ll earn you a punch or worse. People here are never nice.”

Karl nodded and stared down the hall. “What are those rooms?”

“Canteen, bathrooms, and the Art and Science class.” Sapnap stated, walking down the hall and moving his hand in a forward motion to tell Karl to move with him. “Then the Music class is to the right of the canteen, not hard to lose since everyone’s so damn noisy.”

“Ah.” Karl nodded, pulling out a Jolly Rancher. “Want one?”

“Hm?”

“Jolly Rancher. They’re my favorite.”

“You got watermelon? I like ‘em the most.”

Karl muttered a simple “ yeah ” before digging into a pocket of his bag, placing one in the man’s hand. “Mine’s green apple.”

“Dude, what? They’re so sour.” Sapnap scrunched up his nose for a moment before putting the candy in his mouth—throwing the wrapper on the floor.

Karl did the same. “No, you’re just a baby.”

Sapnap scoffed and turned around, walking down the opposite way. “Anyways, I’m going now. You can find your way around with the map.”

“Wait- what ?” Karl let out a fake laugh. “You’re kidding. There’s like three floors!”

“You have a map. Use it. ” Sapnap bit back.

“But-“

“Look-!” The Texan snapped his head back and glared at the man. “I only did this to get out of class Jacobs. Don’t get on my fuckin’ nerves.” He stomped over and shoved a finger to the brunet’s chest. “I ain’t nice when I’m mad.”

Karl clenched his jaw and furrowed his brows—what used to be happy eyes, now only seemed to be clouded with annoyance and anger. “ Fine .” He shoved Sapnap away and walked past him.

“And where do you think-“

“The library !” Karl snapped. “If I can even find it thanks to your useless help!”

“Wrong way dipshit!”

The brunet clenched his fists and turned around, storming past the raven haired man.

This was going to be a long journey.

-

The moon shone high above the dorms—its light making its way to some rooms and giving people some light in their life.

Pen scratches filled the quiet noise as an orange glow from a lamp illuminated the dark room.

Paper shuffling and being thrown into a trashcan followed after, quiet groans followed after.

Then, the door clicked and swung open.

“Hello?“

“What the-“

A beat of silence passed before loud commotion began.

“Oh this is why Bad switched dorms?!”

“Stop being such a baby , Sapnap.”

Sapnap slammed his books shut and let out a deep exhale from his nose. “Shut it, Jacobs.” He grit his teeth together and stood up, grabbing a towel and a change of clothes. “I’m gonna shower, don’t fuck up the room.”

The brunet let out a sigh and placed his bags down next to the made bed, unpacking clothes and hanging them in the closet, separating his from Sapnap’s.

Why does he have so many clothes? , Karl wondered, pushing them to the left and his own to the right.

He brought himself back to his bed, grabbing a hold of the phone and dialing his friend.

“Hey Jimmy.”

“Hey Karl! How’s the first day of college?”

“God don’t even get me started.”

A chuckle filled his ears. “That bad?”

“There’s this dude named Sapnap and he’s such a ditz!” A groan left Karl’s lips as he furrowed his brows. “He was supposed to tour me around this helluva building and after the going to the second hall he just said ‘you have a map, use it.’” He slammed his hand down on the mattress. “Like what the honk!”

“Seems like this Sapnap guy isn’t the nicest.”

“You think?” Karl deadpanned. “And now I’m sharing a dorm with him Jimmy. What am I gonna do?”

Jimmy let out a sigh, the smile that was on his face could be heard. “Look, just be you Karl. Be nice, share some stuff, get to know more people.” He stated, popping a gum bubble. “Maybe you can make this ‘ditz’ a nice guy.”

Karl nodded subconsciously, staring at the glow in the dark stars that were left on the ceiling. “Okay. Thank you.” He let out a yawn and rubbed his eyes. “I’ll talk to you tomorrow alright?”

“Alright. Night Karl.”

“Night Jimmy, love you.”

“Love you too.” His friend laughed once more, the call soon ending.

Karl placed the phone back on the desk and stared at the books that were sprawled across the vintage desk.

“Sketchbooks.” He mumbled, a hand placing itself on the cover, feeling the wear and tears of it.

He stared at the brown cover, chuckling softly at the sharpie marks that spelled ‘SAPNAP’ across it. His fingers curled around it almost flipping it over to reveal drawings.

“What are you doing?”

“Uh-!” Karl let go of the book and backed away quickly. “I-I was just-“ He stammered, looking at the man and losing his breath.

Sapnap looked at him warily, hair dripping wet as a small towel curled around his neck, draping on his bare chest. “You were just...?”

Karl chewed down on his lip, his cheeks turning pink as he looked away. “I’m sorry. I got curious.” He felt his heart beat out of his chest, the pulse reaching his fingertips.

The other man drew out a sigh and shook his head. “Don’t touch my shit.” He said, taking the books off the desk and storing them away neatly in a drawer.

A simple nod made Sapnap’s lips curl slightly. “Anyways, I’m heading to bed.” He yawned, hanging the towel on a hook.

He lied down and draped a light blanket over himself, shutting his eyes and facing the wall.

Karl swallowed the lump in his throat and let out a small cough. “See you in the morning.”

“Mhm.”

-

Golden sunlight peeked through the curtains; the mix of pink, orange, yellow, and blue making the sky seem so beautiful.

A loud yawn filled the dorm.

“Jacobs?” Sapnap slurred, scratching his chest and beard. “Jacobs you here?” He called out.

Nothing.

“Whatever.” He stood up and stepped to his closet,  pulling out a maroon shirt, followed by a denim jacket and jeans. “Better than nothin’.” He sighed, slipping into his clothes and freshening up soon after.

Before he left the dorm, he turned to the worn desk and tilted his head to the side. “What the...” His hand picked up a note and two pieces of candy.

Sorry about yesterday, hope we can be friends. It said. Take these as a friendly gesture because—

“I know they’re your favorite.” Sapnap mumbled, a blush creeping on his face as he stared at the watermelon jolly ranchers before shoving them into his pocket. “Stupid Jacobs.” He bit his lip and walked out of his room, feeling his heart beat out of his chest.

What the hell is this feeling? He thought. He was just being nice. That’s all. Nothing wrong with being nice—just bros being bros. Why am I so—

“Sapnap? You good man?”

“Quackity.” Sapnap let out a breath of relief as he stopped himself down the hall, voice quiet. “I’m fine. Just thinking about something.”

“You sure? You seem to be on edge dude.” A hand found its way to Sapnap’s shoulder. “Y’know you can tell me.”

Sapnap looked at his friend, eyes searching for the right answer. “I’m...” He tried to say, before seeing a familiar freckled boy come up to them—the blush appearing on his face once more.

“Karl!” Quackity beamed, a smile making its way onto his face. “How was the first day of college?”

Karl fixed the rings on his fingers and stared at the man. “It was okay. Could’ve been better.” He stated, glancing over at Sapnap who looked away from him quickly.

Quackity raised an eyebrow and looked at the two, then began to laugh.

“What’s so funny?” Sapnap huffed.

“You guys got on each other’s bad side huh?” The dark brunet giggled. “That’s fuckin’ hilarious holy shit.” He clasped his hands together and checked his watch. “Well, class is starting in 10, gotta go.”

He began to walk down the hall before shooting a glance at Sapnap. “Don’t fuck this up.” He mouthed, tapping his watch.

Sapnap furrowed his brows, confused. What was... He thought as he checked his own watch.

His mouth dropped open a few inches.

Class didn’t start for another 30 minutes.

“That son of a—“

“Hey.”

Sapnap turned his head around and met Karl’s gaze, seeing the freckled cheeks turn pink. “Hey.”

“I guess you saw the note, right?”

“Mhm.”

Silence crept its way between them. Only unsaid feelings bubbling in their stomachs.

“What if uh...” Sapnap rocked on his heels, watching as the last person in their hall left. “What if you came to the diner with me? Just to start over. No weird shit.” He said.

“Uh...” Karl let out a cough in shock—air stopping for a moment. “That- That sounds good. What diner?”

“My good friend Darryl, I like to call him Bad though,” Sapnap chuckled. “He has a restaurant with his boyfriend Skeppy- er- Zak . We all have nicknames for each other.”

Karl laughed with him. “I’d like that.” He nodded and ran a hand through his hair—the reddish tint in his neck and face more prominent. “So are we uhm- are we good now?” He scrambled for words, the confusing feelings he felt last night clawing at his throat. “Or do you...still hate me?”

“Hate you? I never said I hated you.” Sapnap laughed, popping a jolly rancher into his mouth. “I’m not good with new people, and I really wanted to get an excuse for not having any classes.”

“So you basically used me to your advantage?”

Sapnap’s heart cracked. “No!” He said quickly. “I mean- shit .” He muttered. “I guess I did a bit. But that’s because I didn’t know you and- and that’s why I’m trying to do something with you. To get to know you .” He pulled on his jacket slightly, shaking his head in disagreement with himself.

Karl smiled softly and put a hand on his shoulder. “I’ll see you at 3.” He whispered, walking away.

And as soon as he did, both him and the raven blushed furiously—confused to what they were feeling to each other.

I gotta call Dream. Sapnap thought, checking the time. Shit...

He only had 15 minutes, and it was a 10 minute walk to the college and his class. He didn’t have time to call the blonde.

He furrowed his brows in frustration, storming off to the campus and wishing to not see the brunet.

-

He saw him.

He fucking saw him.

He saw him talking with a couple of other guys, two towering over him a few inches and another who was almost the same height as him.

Karl took notice of this—he waved him over with a smile on his face. “Sapnap! C’mere!”

Sapnap raised an eyebrow and stared at him. “I-“

“C’mon please?”

One of the men spoke up. “Karl leave him be you knucklehead.” He said, ruffling the light brown fluffy hair with his hand.

“It’s fine.” Sapnap strolled over and crossed his arms, looking at the three guys and then at Karl.

“This is Chris.” Karl pointed to the man who messed with his hair before. “And this is Chandler and Jimmy.”

“Chandler.” The tallest one said, raising a hand.

“Jimmy.” The other smiled.

Sapnap flashed a small smile at the group. “Nice to meet you guys.” He said, looking over at Karl for a second—who was now by Chandler, hugging him tightly. “What brings you here?”

“We just wanted to see how Karl was settling in. Seems like you guys are on good terms now.”

“Chandler!” Karl’s eyes widened. “I told you not to say anyth-“

“It’s fine.” Sapnap interrupted, clearing his throat as he felt his face rising with heat. He changed his stance slightly and crossed his arms, watching as Karl and Chandler messed around.

He swallowed down a sentence in his throat, feeling a tinge of jealousy go through his heart like an arrow. He bit down on his tongue for a moment. “Anyways I gotta head to class. See y’all.” He watched Karl stare up at him. “See ya airhead.” He laughed, walking to his class.

-

“Dude, he was jealous.” Chris snickered.

“No he wasn’t.” Karl crossed his arms and blushed. “I know he-“

Chandler barked out a laugh. “Chris is right Karl.” He said, patting the brunet on the back. “When he looked at us I could feel the jealousy.” He raised his eyebrows and smirked.

Karl frowned. “Well even if he was I don’t think he would- would- “ He rubbed the back of his neck.

Would he? He thought.

“He doesn’t like guys. I know he doesn’t. And I don’t either.” He huffed, putting the hood of his hoodie up and over his face. “I’m leaving.”

“Karl wait-“ Chris tried to say.

“I’ll be late if I don’t go.” Karl began to walk down the hall. “I think you guys should leave.” He said finally, stepping out of their vision.

I don’t like guys. He told himself. I like girls— I’ve always liked girls. Why would Sapnap be the one to change that?

He clutched his hoodie tightly by his heart, feeling it beat out of his chest. His mind swirled with thoughts, eventually settling on the night before.

Get out of my head.   Karl felt his face become hot with confusing feelings. “We’re just gonna talk and eat. Nothing bad about that.”

He trudged his way into class, putting his hood down as he sat down.

Please don’t make it awkward. He pleaded to himself.

-

As the afternoon rolled around, loud chatter surrounded the diner—televisions playing sports as waiters and waitresses strolled around with food and receipts.

“Sapnap!”

“Bad!” Sapnap grinned as his friend left the cashier for a moment and came out from behind the counter.

They clasped a hand and pulled each other for a short hug and a pat on the back. “How’ve you been? You haven’t been here in ages!”

Sapnap let out a laugh. “I’ve been good, college has been kicking my ass.”

Language .” Bad flicked the man on the forehead, another chuckle leaving both of their lips.

“Where’s Skeppy?”

“Out sick.”

“Oh god really?” Sapnap raised an eyebrow. “Is he alright?”

“Oh yeah!” Bad nodded quickly, reassuring his friend as he went behind the counter again. “Just a little cold is all. Nothing too bad. He just needs to rest.”

“Good.” Sapnap sighed, turning his head to Karl. “Anyways this is Karl, he’s a...” He trailed off, thinking of a word to describe the man. “ friend of mine. I wanted to show him how awesome your diner is.” He turned back to Bad, who greeted the brunet with a smile.

“Well it’s nice to meet you Karl.” Bad stared at the man, who shared the same look as Sapnap.

He was nervous.

“Nice to meet you too.” Karl smiled, averting his gaze to Sapnap, who seemed to be looking at a free booth.

“Hey Bad, can we get that booth in the corner?”

“Of course!” He turned his head to a woman. “Puffy, handle the register please.”

“You got it!” She said.

“Thank you!” He turned back to Karl and Sapnap. “Follow me.” Bad instructed, grabbing two menus and strolled over to the booth, sliding the menus on each side with ease.

The two men sat down across from each other and looked at the menu.

“Anything to drink?”

“Water.” Sapnap replied.

“And for you, Karl?”

“Uhm-“ Karl stared at the menu, picking at the tears in the plastic film. “I’ll go with a water too.”

“Sounds good!” Bad scribbled down the order of drinks in a notebook, soon looking back up at the two. “I’ll be out with your drinks momentarily.” He walked into the kitchen and left the two men alone.

“So uh...” Sapnap folded his hands together. “How do you like this place so far?”

“It’s nice.” Karl said, staring out the window. “I hope Chandler isn’t causing any trouble.” He laughed to himself, covering his mouth.

“You guys are close huh?”

“Yeah. We’ve been friends for ages.” Karl uncovered his mouth and held out his hands. “Can I see your hands for a moment?”

“Why?”

“Just-!” The brunet giggled. “ Please?”

“Fine.” Sapnap placed his hands in Karl’s and watched him stare at his golden rings.

Karl let out a hum and traced over the knuckles and veins, a blush creeping on his face as he met Sapnap’s gaze. “Nice rings.” He said, looking back down and interlocking their fingers subconsciously.

He jerked back however as Sapnap pulled his hands away quickly.

“Wha-“

“Don’t do that shit to me.” Sapnap hissed. “I’m not a f-“ He bit his lip and stopped himself, swallowing the large ball of feelings in his throat.

“I’m sorry I didn’t mean to-“

“Just-“ Sapnap held a hand up. “This was a bad idea.” His face became red in embarrassment and untold feelings. He stood up from his seat and put down a five dollar bill. “ I’m gonna go. ” He rushed, leaving the diner before Karl could even get a word out.

-

“Dream?”

“Sapnap? What’s wr-“

“How did you know when you liked guys?” Sapnap questioned, a sniffle making its way out of his throat.

Dream raised an eyebrow, even though no one could see. “ Did something happen?”

“There’s this guy named Karl and he’s new and- and-“ Sapnap’s voice cracked. “God dammit he’s like...” He fiddled with a piece of candy in his hand.

“You think he looks cute?”

“Handsome.”

The blonde let out a small chuckle. “Would you want to hold his hand? Hug him?”

“Yes.”

“Kiss him?”

“...Yes” Sapnap admitted sheepishly, wiping his eyes. “I just don’t want to be rejected.”

Dream let out a small hum and tapped on his desk. “Give it a couple weeks. See if he acts the same towards you.” He said. “It’ll be fine. Trust me.”

“Are you sure?”

“I’m sure.”

Sapnap leant back in his chair, his head quickly turning to the door as Karl walked in. “Hey, I’ll talk to you later.” He said, eyes locking with the brunet’s.

“Guessing he’s there.” Dream laughed. “See you brother. Love you.”

“I know you do.” Sapnap scoffed and hung up, placing the phone down on the desk. “Hey Karl.”

“Hi.” Karl said, crossing his arms. “Are you alright now?”

Sapnap nodded and stood up. “I’m...” He sucked in a breath. “I’m sorry. I just got too nervous and-“

“It’s fine.” Karl reassured. “I shouldn’t have done what I did and I’m sorry.” He gave him a small smile and fumbled with his rings.

They each stayed quiet after that, only looking away from each other as the tension grew.

Suddenly, Sapnap placed his hand on Karl’s shoulder and pulled him into a hug, wrapping his arms around the smaller frame.

A few weeks. He thought to himself, shutting his eyes and moving one hand to sift through the soft wavy hair.

Karl giggled softly into his ear and embraced him back; face buried into the slightly tan neck.

Just a few weeks.

-

And just like that,

It was November 20, 1985.

“Karl!”

“Sapnap!”

The two men tackled each other with a hug in the halls, holding each other for a while.

“How was your day?” Sapnap questioned, breaking the hug yet keeping his hands clasped with his friend’s.

“It was good! I heard Quackity is finally back.” Karl let out a giggle. “Guess he had too much partying.”

Sapnap barked out a laugh and let go of their hands. “Well that is Quackity for ya.” He ran a hand through his hair and fixed his headband. “Hey, want to sneak out tonight?” He whispered as teachers passed by them.

Karl looked at him wildly. “What?” He asked, fiddling with his rings.

“You and me,” Sapnap moved his index finger between the two of them. “sneaking out.”

“What would we even do?”

“I heard that it’s gonna be a blue moon tonight and I want to see it! I could finally draw something good.”

Karl hummed and stared at the man. “Fine.” He smiled, bumping their heads together for a moment. “But only this once.” He said, pulling back and cracking his knuckles.

“Fine with me.” Sapnap grinned as he checked his watch. “Gotta head to class now. See you later, Jacobs.”

“Bye Sap!”

They each waved each other goodbye, their faces turning pink everytime.

Tonight will sure be something, huh?

-

A Jolly Rancher being chewed on filled Sapnap’s ears.

“You made it.”

“Well duh, I wasn’t gonna leave you up here on your own.” Karl rolled his eyes and swallowed the last bit of the candy in his mouth.

Sapnap let out a laugh and lied down on his back—the feeling of grass poking his back through the blanket more sharp.

Stay calm. He told himself repeatedly. Don’t make things weird.

Karl sat down next to him, the moonlight shining down on them. “Wow.” He breathed. “It’s so-“

A gust of wind blew harshly.

Cold .” Karl finished, a laugh bubbling out of his chest—wrapping his arms around himself. “Did you know it would be this windy?”

“Nope.” Sapnap shook his head and stripped off his hoodie. “Here.”

The brunet turned his head and stared at the black hoodie. “But you’ll be cold, Sap.”

“I’m fine. I run hot.”

“Are you s-“

“Just take the damn jacket Jacobs!” Sapnap laughed and shoved the fabric in his friend’s chest.

Karl shook his head and slipped the hoodie on. Albeit, it was soft and warm—the sleeves were a few inches longer than his arms, so he could easily bunch them up with his hands.

“Thank you.” He said, staring back up at the sky.

Sapnap smiled softly at him and grabbed his sketchbook, sitting up and flipping to a blank page—the pencil in his right hand already scribbling on the rough paper.

Karl paid no mind, already knowing that Sapnap was going to draw the sky and moon. “Kinda crazy how the moon can be different colors. Dont’cha think?”

“Yeah. When I have the most time, I usually paint sceneries that are like this—but I can’t now since we’re always in dorms and with airheads who love to cause chaos.” Sapnap glanced up at him for a moment, then back down at his sketchbook.

“Can I see what you’re drawin’?”

“No.”

“Please?” Karl asked, sitting in front of his friend and placing a hand on the page. “C’mon I’m curious!”

Sapnap let out a groan and pulled the book away, shutting it close and setting it aside. “Look I don-“ He stopped his sentence mid way, eyes gazing over Karl.

He stared at how oversized the piece of clothing was on him—how Karl’s freckles looked like stars in the moonlight. How the stormy eyes glistened so brightly, how the pink and slightly bitten lips were pursed in fake annoyance.

“Sapnap? Are you alright?” Karl asked.

But Sapnap didn’t hear him. He only placed a hand on his friend’s cheek—becoming shocked at how cold it was.

“You’re so…” He blinked a few times, watching as his friend’s face turned red. “ beautiful .”

“Wh- Sapnap what are you-?”

“Can I kiss you?”

A disgusting line of silence went through them.

And Sapnap soon realized what he said.

“Wait- shit-“ He stammered, retracting his hand back quickly and scooting away from Karl. “Fuck I didn’t mean to ask that.”

“Sapnap-“

Sapnap ran a hand through his hair. “Dammit I’m such a fuckin’ idiot.” He groaned.

“No wait-“ Karl grabbed ahold of Sapnap’s hands, one of his pale hands placed on the raven’s cheek. “I would’ve said yes.”

“You-“ Sapnap looked at him, puzzled. “You would’ve said yes?”

A nod was all Sapnap needed.

He placed his hands on Karl’s waist, feeling Karl wrap his arms around his neck. “I can kiss you then?”

“Yes you ditz!” Karl laughed, it soon being muffled down by Sapnap pressing their lips together.

Tan hands roamed around the pale torso; soon grabbing at the hands that dug into his shoulder blades and pinning them down.

Heavy breaths and whines died down to nothingness, the shuffling of hands reaching underneath shirts were overlapped with small giggles.

“Did you eat a watermelon jolly rancher, knowing it was my favorite?” Sapnap asked, pulling away and sitting up, knees keeping him from falling on top of Karl.

“Maybe.” Karl smiled, placing his hands on each side of Sapnap’s face. “They might be my favorite now too.” He let out a small giggle and leaned forward, pressing a second kiss to Sapnap’s lips. “This is nice.”

“Yeah.” Sapnap nodded. “Does this also mean you’re my boyfriend? Or do you want to go on a couple dates first? Just in case you- uh- don’t want to-“

Karl placed a finger on the raven’s lips. “Sapnap,” He said, a hand going through the dark hair. “I would love to be your boyfriend.”

Sapnap let out a sigh of relief and crawled off of his boyfriend . “Thank god.” He smiled, holding Karl close to him. “I thought Quackity was gonna have to see me sulk around him because of you.”

“God you’re an airhead.” Karl held his hands and intertwined their fingers. “I love you.”

Sapnap kissed his boyfriend’s forehead and smiled, staring at their hands and running his thumbs over the freckled knuckles.

“Love you too, Jacobs.” He whispered. “Love you too.”
