Summary:

Tim wasn't sure if he was imagining it, but Kon seemed to be getting impossibly closer to him. Except it wasn't impossible because Kon still wasn't even touching him. The space between the two of them could be infinite for all Tim knew.
But then Kon placed a light hand on Tim's arm and it was confirmed that the space between the two of them wasn't actually limitless, because Kon had just crossed it.

It's the next day and Tim spends his time looking at Kon and possibly a little more.

Notes:

Hey guys! I'm back! I didn't take an official break or anything, and it's not even the longest I've gone without posting but I've been in a little bit of a funk.
Having problems is just so much fun. :)
Anyway, I got this fic out, I'm somewhat proud of it, I wrote it a day and took half a day to edit.
I'm working on some other fics for different ships so check out my account for other fics.

Make sure that you've read the other fics in the series to understand what's going on here.

I will note that I haven't read the comics so this is going to be fun.
I know for a fact that the timeline isn't accurate.
It's not shown as much in this fic but still.

Here is a link to the song, go check it out: More
As usual, here are some lines that I used to plan this fic:
- So gimme, now, gimme, now, gimmie your love
- I need more of you
- I want you in the worst way

I don't own these characters.
I just wish I did.

Now, onward to the fic. Happy reading! <3

Work Text:

The first thing that Tim sees in the morning when he wakes up is the white ceiling of Kon's room.

Of course, Kon's ceiling looks identical to Tim's, which is why when Tim turns on his side, his face only a couple of inches away from Kon's, he was surprised.

Tim still, however, takes the opportunity to stare at Kon's sleeping face as memories of the day before flooded back into his brain.

The rom-com that Bart picked, Kon coming out, Tim also coming out, the second movie, the short talk about life that felt like it held more meaning than both Tim and Kon could comprehend.

Tim looked down at his legs, laying centimeters away from Kon's.

With the smallest of movements, he could easily create a point of contact. A bridge between the two of them.

Kon lets out a small huff of air and Tim snaps his eyes up to Kon's resting face.

Luckily, Kon only shifted slightly, not waking up yet.

This left Tim the opportunity to think for a little longer.

As Tim studied his best friend's face his brain ran wild with thoughts.

Some of them made sense, like the one about how he should probably brush his teeth, that way, when Kon inevitably woke up, Tim could talk to him without fear of morning breath.

Others, though, Tim found to be less logical and more unwelcome. Like the constant thought, his brain kept sending him that was telling him that laying in Kon's bed, watching Kon sleep (not that he wanted to be creepy), and feeling Kon's exhale brush across his skin (weightless, almost non-existent); all of it, it all felt just so right.

Right in a way that he didn't want to have to deal with right now.

Just like before, Tim had known about this part of him for a while.

The part of him that had a major crush on his best friend who had been in another relationship and then dead; basically unavailable for so long that Tim had learned to cope with the fact that they were never going to happen.

But, right now, in this very moment, Kon was neither in a relationship nor was he dead.

He was... available. Tim could 'go for it' if he wanted.

Wait.

Tim didn't want to get ahead of himself, didn't want to let himself get filled with a sense of false hope, but it was really hard to fight back against the sea of feelings threatening to spill over as Kon groggily opened his eyes, blearily staring at Tim.

The second that Kon's eyes focused on Tim, Kon smiled.

Kon's contagious smile made its way to Tim's face as well, leaving two smiling teenage boys in Kon's bed.

"How'd you sleep?" Kon asks, not moving from the position he's currently in, face and body close to Tim's.

Tim shrugged. "Better than I usually do. I got more than 3 or 4 hours so it's a win in my book."

"Well, last night was emotionally draining for both of us. I mean, I was tired, but the level of emotional vulnerability that you had last night must have exhausted you."

Tim raises a lazy arm to punch Kon in the shoulder, not putting any real effort into it.

"I don't have much of an argument to that. It was... more work than I wish it would have been to open up."

Kon smiles and Tim swears his eyes twinkle.

Kon finally pulls back from the bubble that they seemed to exist in, stretching his arms behind his head. "That might be the case, but you made it so I'd say it worked out fine."

Tim was about to move back, stretch like Kon had, and start planning the rest of his day, but before Tim could move a muscle, Kon's body was back where it was before.

Something about Kon's face being in front of Tim's, deliberate this time, not just the product of moving in their sleep, had stirred some part of Tim.

Kon had made the decision himself to be this close to Tim. A conscious decision.

There was something that Tim was going to say, he was sure of it, but it got stuck in his throat as his eyes locked onto Kon's.

Thankfully, Tim had the ability to keep his breathing steady, and he wasn't so far gone that he couldn't keep his heartbeat in check.

Tim had assured himself that he could deal with the situation, that he would be able to control it, or, honestly, just hope that he didn't make a fool of himself.

Everything was going through his brain so fast, thinking of all of the other ways Kon could mean this, the ways that Kon could take it back, every move Tim could make if he managed to calm his nerves.

But that all goes down the drain when Kon-El, his recently-not-so-dead best friend, leans in slowly, and places his lips on Tim's, giving Tim's arm a light squeeze from where his hand still rests.

Tim freezes, and leans back slightly, making sure not to take his arm out of Kon's grip.

"What are you doing?" Tim whispers. Anything louder seems like it would break the air around them.

"I was trying to kiss you," Kon responds with a small, self-conscious smile.

Tim rolls his eyes. "I got that part. The question I was asking was why."

Kon slowly took his hand back. "Because it felt right? I don't know, I just wanted to kiss you. Sorry that I made it weird."

Kon starts to lean back, moving to get up, but Tim grabs his hand, putting it back on his arm and holding it there for a second.

Kon looks into Tim's eyes, almost as if he was asking for permission.

Before Kon could figure out the answer, Tim leaned forward, lightly pressing their lips together.

The kiss is short, less than a minute, and it isn't anything mind-blowing or earth-shattering but it was all that Tim ever wanted.

Tim only moved back slightly, loving the feeling of his breath mixing with Kon's.

"You didn't make it weird. I really wanted to kiss you too, obviously."

Tim is sure that Kon is smiling, but he can't see it because he's looking so deeply into Kon's eyes.

"Enough that you'd be willing to do it again?" Kon asks and Tim's eyes flutter shut in anticipation of Kon's lips on his again, something that he simultaneously knows he'll never get used to but also feels familiar, safe.

Then, in an instant, it's no longer anticipation; Kon is kissing him and it's just as perfect as the last time.

The only conscious thought currently going through Tim's head at the moment was that kissing Kon is something that he wanted to continue doing.

When Tim pulled back for a breath, he went back to staring into Kon's eyes.

"Kon?" Tim whispered.

"Yeah?" Kon's thumb started rubbing small circles on the inside of Tim's elbow and Tim had to stop to collect himself before trying to talk again.

"I think I want more."

Kon just looks at him before responding. "More what?"

"More of this."

Kon leans forward, now understanding what Tim was trying to say.

"Like a relationship?" Kon's lips were so close to Tim's that their lips brushed together as Kon spoke.

"Yeah," Tim responded, the word almost lost and Kon leaned forward to meet their lips together.

"I might be able to do that," Kon whispered back before leaning in again.

When the kiss broke, Tim took a second to take in his surroundings.

They were still in Kon's room, in his bed, Kon's face was still impossibly close to his, his hand no longer on Tim's arm, but on his waist, something that Tim isn't sure how he didn't notice because Kon's hand feels like it's burning him in the best way possible.

The sheets were slightly rumpled around them, so were their clothes, and Tim could only assume that his own lips matched Kon's: slightly red, a little swollen.

Not much had changed from how it was before the two of them had woken up; before they had kissed.

Except that they had woken up, they had kissed, and everything, everything that mattered, had changed.
