Summary:

"Sometimes I wish my life was like a movie where everything works out perfectly."
"I think everyone does. But your movie would be my favorite. G'night Tim."
"Yours would be my favorite too. G'night Kon."

Tim and Kon come out to each other but are still oblivious.

Notes:

Hewwo, so this fic is very late but I've been going through writer's block and some other stuff so sorry, but it's here now.
I'm not going to even try to give myself an actual posting schedule, it will only stress me out, but my goal is to post each fic within a week of each other.

Here is a link to the song, go check it out:Movies
As usual, here are some lines that I used to plan this fic:
- You're the star in my arms
- But you somehow find a way to save me from myself

I don't own these characters.
I just wish I did.

I hope you enjoy!

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Tim's brain had finally accepted that Kon was alive and safe.

Well, not safe, Kon was quick to jump back into the hero business, but not dead.

Currently, the two were sitting in the main rec room watching a romantic comedy.

Bart had originally been with them and had begged the two to play the movie.

Jaime texted him 20 minutes in and Bart said he was bored of the movie and ran out of the room, definitely tapping into the Speedforce.

Neither Tim nor Kon felt like changing the movie, and though neither of them would admit it, they both wanted a break from their usual garbage action movies that they watch every week.

Y'know, if there isn't some major battle going on and all of them are alive.

Tim was working on a case during the first part of the movie and had finally decided to take a break.

He looked up at the screen only to see that the movie had reached the main conflict: The main character found the love interest's ex in his apartment and jumped to conclusions.

Tim scoffed. "Imagine being lucky enough to find the perfect someone for you and then sabotaging the whole relationship by jumping to conclusions."

Kon moves his head, looking at Tim. "Some people just don't see things that are right in front of them. Plus, everyone has insecurities. Seeing your partner's ex in their house would probably make you really self-conscious. I don't know. I probably wouldn't run off like that though."

Tim shrugs. "I mean, I guess being insecure is a reason. But having faith in the relationship is essential if it's going to work."

"Coming from you. One of the most closed-off and untrusting people that I know. I would love to try to see you settle down with someone," Conner chuckles.

Tim lets out a huff, rolling his eyes. "I bet you I could get into a serious relationship before you. I just feel that they can be a waste of time unless there are minimal problems. And then you still have to deal with the fact that relationships can cause distractions, and those cause mistakes, and mistakes cause so many problems down the road."

Kon turns back to the movie, laughing. "That, my dear friend, is exactly why I'll be in a serious relationship way before you. You obviously need to manage time well, but dating shouldn't be seen as a nuisance. If you think like that, you'll start resenting your partner."

Tim also looks back to the movie. "Well, aren't you just full of dating advice?"

Kon smiles, "Guess so."

Once the movie is over, around an hour later, both of them are tired.

Well, it's not showing, but the day's exhaustion of the many battles they had had earlier in the day was starting to wear on them.

"Hey, Tim?" Kon said, speaking in an almost nervous voice.

"Yeah, Kon?" Tim responds, his arms above his head and his back curved while he leans back and stretches on the couch.

"Did you think the love interest was attractive?"

Tim turns to Kon with a raised eyebrow.

"He wasn't unattractive if that's what you're asking. Why?"

Kon's cheeks redden a little, but he maintains eye contact. "That's not quite what I was asking. It's just that I.. um... I thought he was.. hot?"

Kon raises his arm to slightly rub the side of his neck before quickly dropping it, not wanting to show how nervous he was more than he already has.

"Okay. I guess he was hot. But what's this about Kon?" Tim was looking directly into Kon's eyes and Kon knew that there was no way to stop what he had started.

"I- Well- It's just that. I think I like guys. No. I know I like guys. And girls. I still like them too. Both." Kon takes a deep breath, letting it out slowly, still looking at Tim. "I like both."

Tim stays quiet for a second. He just looks at Kon. Not like he was trying to tell if he was joking but more like his brain was processing and filing the information that was just given to him.

"Okay."

Kon lets out a breath, almost a laugh.

"Okay?"

Tim shrugs and a smile slips onto his face. "Okay. That's cool. Thanks for telling me. Does anybody else know?"

Kon leans back against the couch as if the whole situation was too much for him and to be honest, it kind of was.

"You're welcome? Um no, no one else knows. I thought about telling Bart first but I decided that I wanted you to be the first person to know. I also thought that it'd be helpful to have you here with me to tell everyone else."

"No problem. Are you gonna tell everyone at once?"

Kon's smile fades just the slightest. "I have absolutely no idea. I would love to say that I haven't put any thought into it but that's all I've been doing since basically a week after I came back."

"How long have you known?"

"Um, from a few months before I died."

Tim moves back from the hug and hits Kon's arm.

"You waited until after you died to tell me!?!?"

Kon shrugged. "I wasn't quite sure where I wanted to go with my newfound revelation. Now I decided that I wanted to tell people but before I died, I wasn't so sure."

Tim leaned back a bit. "I can't wrap my head around the fact that I wouldn't have known something so big if you hadn't come back."

Tim finds Kon's eyes and makes sure that Kon is listening to what he's saying. "I don't want you to feel pressured to tell me things, but either one of us could die at any time. I don't want us to not know important things."

"I promise, Tim."

Tim finds himself lying in his bed, staring at the ceiling.

He was finally in a position where he could just lay down and go to sleep but his mind wouldn't shut off.

Kon coming out as bi was messing with Tim's head and he couldn't understand why.

Tim thought for a second and started to realize that he knew what his brain was doing.

This was his sexuality crisis.

Tim had known for a while that this was bound to happen.

He noticed his seeming lack of attraction to girls.

He noticed the way his body reacted towards certain guys.

He even noticed the occasional glances that he subconsciously sent Kon's way.

Even during his relationship with Steph, he knew that it wasn't working out.

He wanted to believe that it was because they were both always busy with hero stuff but he honestly wasn't really interested in a romantic relationship with her.

Tim's fairly certain Steph figured that out, including the reason why.

Basically, Tim knew he wasn't straight, more specifically, he was gay.

Kon coming out sort of... forced him to start to accept his own sexuality.

With a sigh, Tim got up from his bed, walking towards to door almost sluggishly.

He walked to Kon's room, knocking on the door.

After a minute of waiting, the door opened revealing a tired and rimpled Kon starting at Tim with half-closed eyes.

"Tim?" Kon said with a yawn.

"Yeah, it's me."

"It's nearly two in the morning. What could you possibly want that couldn't wait till tomorrow?"

Tim looked down a bit. "How did you know?"

Tim raised his head a bit to look at Kon's face and Kon looked back at him.

"How'd I know what?"

"How did you know that you liked guys?"

Kon seemed to awaken at this. He stepped to the side. "Come in Tim. I have a feeling that this conversation is gonna take a while.

Tim lowers his head again, walking past Kon and sitting on the edge of the bed.

"So? You gonna tell me why you came to my room this early in the morning, woke me up, and asked me about my sexuality? Or am I going to have to force it out of you?"

Tim looked at Kon, his cheeks slightly pink. "I um... I think that I might like guys. Only guys."

Kon sits in the desk chair, facing Tim. "You think you like guys or you know you like guys?"

"I'm pretty sure I know. Like 99% sure." Tim leans back as he says this. He almost feels as if a weight has been lifted off of his shoulders.

"Okay. That's fine. That's great. Now, are you going to explain why you had to wake me up in the middle of the night instead of waiting till tomorrow?"

"I don't know. I couldn't sleep and I just felt like I really had to tell someone and I thought that someone should be you. Both because you came out to me yesterday but also because you're my best friend." Tim couldn't stop the self-conscious smile that slid onto his face.

"I was also thinking about what I said about us not knowing really big things about each other if one of us dies. I just wanted you to know as soon as possible; just in case. As soon as possible happens to be right now."

Kon sighed. "Your explanation is actually pretty decent and you even added something that I said. You have successfully made me not annoyed at you anymore."

Kon got up and wrapped Tim into a hug.

"Now that that's all settled, can I please go back to sleep?"

Tim nodded his head while still in the hug, bumping Kon's head.

"Do wanna stay here for the last few hours of the night?" Kon asks, moving back from the hug.

"Are you sure?"

Kon shrugs. "We haven't had a sleepover in forever."

Tim laughs. "We're too old for sleepovers."

Kon walks to the side of his bed, pulling the sheets back. "Tim, you're 16 and I'm who knows how old. So I don't think that we're too old for sleepovers. If there's even such a thing."

Tim chuckles and gets under the covers with Kon.

Both of them settle in and Kon turns out the lamp.

Tim closes his eyes and tries to sleep. Of course, again, his body won't let him.

After 5 minutes of staring at the wall, he turns to look at Kon's back.

"Kon?" Tim whispers.

"Can't sleep either?" Kon asks as he rolls over to face Tim.

"No, you know how it is with me."

Kon smiles. "Yeah, I do. You wanna watch a movie?"

Tim nods, knowing Kon can see it.

Tim watched Kon use his TTK to get the remote from the nightstand next to him.

"It was really that hard to lean over?"

Kon raises an eyebrow. "You're just jealous that you can't do it. Any preference on what we watch?"

Tim looks at Kon and smiles. "I'm in the mood to watch superhero movies and totally pick them apart."

"Of course. Do you want to find one about someone with or without powers?"

Tim shrugs. "I don't really care."

Kon chooses a movie and the two of them watch as the main character has an identity crisis, figures themself out, saves the day, and gets the love interest.

As the end credits play, Tim yawns.

"Sometimes I wish my life was like a movie where everything works out perfectly."

"I think everyone does. But your movie would be my favorite. G'night Tim."

"Your movie would be my favorite too. G'night Kon."
