(Gibbs Basement)
Gibbs swore when the ringing of his cell phone caused him to spill the jar of wood stain, “Damn it,” he muttered as he answered the unknown number, “Gibbs.”
“Is this Leroy Jethro Gibbs?” an unknown female voice questioned.
“Yes,” the MCRT Leader replied as he leaned against the work bench as he waited for the voice to continue.
“Do you know an Anthony D. DiNozzo?” she questioned.
“Yeah, what’s going on?” Gibbs demanded as he tensed at the sound of his Second in Command’s name.
“My name is Naomi Sanderson, I’m a Nurse at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital,” she introduced herself, “Mr. DiNozzo was brought in yesterday.”
“What happened to him?” demanded Gibbs as he headed toward the stairs.
“He was injured onboard Norfolk Navy Station and was airlifted here,” she commented with ease, far to use to the demanding tone in his voice, “The reason I’m calling you is because you are listed as being his Next of Kin?”
“That’s right,” Gibbs paused as he grabbed his car keys, “Is he…”
“No, he’s conscious,” she paused as though she was unsure how to continue.
Gibbs felt the dread start to form as he realized that she was calling him against DiNozzo’s orders, “What?”
“How soon can you get here?”
“Tell me,” he demanded as he clutched his cell phone.
“He’s refusing to be placed on a ventilator,” she paused before continuing, “He wants to sign a DNR.”
