seizing the opportunity of three day-offs, megumi kept his promise.

Notes:

hello, this is the continuation of wishlist. it can still be read separately, though. enjoy!🤍

p.s. prepare your heart for a large amount of uwu-ness because writing this made me cry a bit thinking of my non-existent love life.

Work Text:

after the ruckus during dinner solely caused by the use of his first name, megumi can finally get some time alone. everyone else pestered him, demanding full details in obnoxious ways that sent him snapping out of annoyance. but it didn't fear them, instead, they laughed at how bothered he got.

yet, he didn't regret the decision one bit. because amidst the chaos he got to witness an adorable sight of you, cheeks so red while maki and kugisaki continued to tease.

he scrolled through his phone on his bed mindlessly, opening one app to close it and repeat the actions for another. however, the movement ceased when he tapped upon pinterest, and the first picture shown was a ferris wheel. his mind instantly travels to you and your wishes, causing megumi to feel all warm and fluffy - something he thought he'd never feel. he hid his red face with an arm as the event happening just a few hours ago replayed itself inside his head.

after calming himself down, his finger tapped on his phone again and all he knew was he sent you a message before closing his eyes shut, trying not to feel so flustered. he cursed internally for feeling like a junior high school girl daydreaming of their crushes.

meanwhile in a room just three doors away from his, you were chatting with nobara when the notification popped up. the brunette gave you a knowing look but decide to let it slide since you gave her the big picture of what happened, and as much as nobara wants to know every detail she respected your privacy.

"i guess i should go to sleep now," nobara stated to no one in particular, standing up from where she sat on your carpeted floor. you followed her action, squeezing her shoulders.

"I'll see you tomorrow morning, then." you piped cheerfully, walking her to the door. nobara paused before opening it though and turns to you with a glare.

"just because you and fushiguro are an item now, doesn't mean he can take you away from me. make sure of that, okay?" she threatens, ignoring your words completely as she shuts your door in front of your own face. you sighed before walking back to the bed and plopped down on it.

opening your phone, the notification turns out to be a text from megumi. you couldn't help the wide smile that paints your face upon seeing it, and with excitement opened the text.

megumi: can i call you?

you felt blush crept to your face and neck, the red probably evident if you were to glance at the mirror. a small part of you couldn't believe this since just a few hours earlier the two of you were just friends, and although nothing has been stated yet, the relationship between megumi and you has changed.

the text was sent three minutes ago so you figured the question still stands. without further ado, you called him and tried to calm your racing heart when he picked up not long after.

"hey," you began and hid your face in your pillow because your voice was so shaky. you heard some rustling from the other end, probably from megumi adjusting himself on his bed.

he hummed, "i was wondering if you're free tomorrow after the plan with kugisaki." he spoke in his usual tone and it gave you comfort, heartbeat slowly coming back to normal. still, the smile on your face never falters.

"i'm free, but we would finish around five. why, though?" you turned on your bed, anticipating his answer. there was a short pause before he answered.

"wanna go to yomiuriland?"

you were at a loss of words, clearly taken aback at the statement. he did say he'll help to make your wishes come true but you didn't think it would be this early. you were probably silent for quite a long time because megumi called your name, thinking you had fallen asleep or something. blinking a few times, you responded.

"sorry, i was surprised," you mumbled, unconsciously playing with the hem of your sweatshirt. megumi chuckles at your answer and your heartbeat quickens once again and this doesn't seem healthy; how he can easily make you all flustered by doing only the bare minimum. you took a deep breath,

"i want to go."

somehow you heard a relieved sigh from him, but maybe you were imagining it. "text me tomorrow when you're done with kugisaki, then."

you nodded absentmindedly and immediately told him yes after realizing he can't see you. your mind is preoccupied with way too many thoughts for the date tomorrow. wait. is it a date

"good night," megumi said, signalling the end of the conversation. you bit your bottom lip, not wanting to hang up just yet because heck only now you realize how soothing his voice sounded over the phone. but your mouth spoke for you.

"good night, megumi." you didn't notice it, but the way you said his first name was so soft and careful, causing the owner to blush heavily in his room. he's glad that he's all by himself when it happened. how is he supposed to respond when you call him that in front of the others?

hesitation hang in the air as none of you hangs up first, and your laugh filled the silence. "why are we like this," you muttered and megumi couldn't think of an answer. he listened as you continue, "see you tomorrow, fushiguro."

then you hang up. this caused megumi to stare at his phone in disbelief like you just betrayed him or something. fushiguro? sure, that was his name indeed. but after having you call him megumi, it's weird. like wearing shoes you know isn't your size. megumi groaned, resisting the urge to call you again and question things. he already lost his cool around you so much that for now, he held on to what's barely left of it. he clearly missed the teasing lilt to your voice, as you went to sleep knowing full well of his reaction.

***

by the time nobara and you left the dorm, no one else was awake. it was eight in the morning and the two of you sauntered to the front gate where nitta-san was already waiting. she insisted to drive you guys even though this was a personal business, saying it's safer and much more convenient. while her statement is true, you can't help but feel a little bad for taking her time.

"don't worry about me, just have fun," she said as the car headed out of school ground, speeding to the heart of the city.

in the backseat, you fiddled with your fingers. should you tell nobara about the date? wait. it's not a date. nobara, being herself of course noticed your uneasiness. she bumped your shoulder, and raised an eyebrow. that was enough to make you elaborate.

"megumi wants to take me to yomiuriland."

nobara's reaction was so loud that nitta-san hit the brakes, causing the car to stop abruptly. thankfully, the road was empty. you felt a prickle of sweat went down your face upon seeing such a reaction. maybe you shouldn't have told her.

"fushiguro wants to take you where?!" she exclaimed loudly, causing nitta-san to sigh in relief. she thought someone was dying. quietly she continues driving, all the while smiling to herself at the girls' conversation. she doesn't drive the first years around often, but the assistant noticed how two specific students seem to share something between them when she did. it turns out to be true.

"why didn't you tell me sooner?" nobara grumbled, holding onto both of your arms and shaking you back and forth. "don't tell me you're going for a date looking like this," she scanned you from head to toe. you gulped under her stare.

after enrolling on this school, you found yourself having more comfortable clothes than fancy ones. your current outfit consists of a plaid lilac shirt and white tennis skirt, a pair you deemed fancy enough for a girls day. added with a pair of white socks and sneakers and a bandana tying your long hair, nobara squinted her eyes.

"nitta-san, change of plans," nobara announced, confusing you. "we're heading to the shopping center first."

***

megumi couldn't believe himself.

he stared at his cupboard of clothes, a hand rubbing the back of his head. he woke up at eleven in the morning, knowing you and nobara had probably left. itadori was at the kitchen making fried rice and offered him some, which megumi agreed to. while eating, he thought of his words carefully before voicing them.

"itadori," he began, causing the strawberry-head to turn around. he was watching naruto on the television, a mouthful of food. "have you ever been on a date?"

in all honesty, itadori wanted to take a picture of megumi's current state. his friend didn't meet his eyes, opting to stare at the wall far to his left. he wanted to tease him a bit but choose not to, thinking he already did enough last night. itadori set his plate down on the table and turned to the raven.

"no," he answered honestly. he did have some crushes and vice versa but never had the time to think about it much. he was just a young kid back then, plus he had to take care of his grandfather. "but maybe i can help you. what is it?" he offered and megumi slowly turned to him, still not making eye contact.

"what am i supposed to do?"

that question leads him here, to his own room and glaring at his collection of clothes. itadori said it'd be better if he dresses up for it since it's a special occasion and maybe bring a gift as well. people appreciate effort, so that's what matters the most was what itadori said. megumi doesn't know if he can call this a date, he and you are not even established yet. but he wanted to show that he cares, he really does.

the first problem regarding that is he barely has clothes other than monochromic shirts and sweatpants. he even searched through the internet for inspiration but all of them required him to buy some new pieces. megumi sighed, should he?

before he can get into the shower and prepare to head out, though, someone knocked at his door. he thought it was itadori, to find someone worse.

"megumi-chan, i heard you have a date!"

megumi wanted to slam the door shut, but his teacher was quick on his feet. he slipped into the room, carrying two paper bags with him. "don't be mad at yuuji, it wasn't him who told me." as if reading megumi's plan of murder, gojo announced that the information was passed to him from a songbird. megumi rolled his eyes.

"i'm a busy man so i can't stay for long, here you go." he gave the bags to megumi who hesitantly accept them, "good luck on your first date, megumi-chan!"

without using the door, gojo teleported somewhere else. ignoring the annoyance creeping into his head, megumi peeked into the bags. to his surprise, they were clothes. he took the pieces out and found that it was actually his style. as he got into the shower, he wondered if he should thank gojo or not.

you sigh exasperatedly as the make-up artist continues to dab on your face, doing their work. you glanced at nobara beside you, who observed the whole thing and gave comments here and there.

"is this really necessary?" you asked, already feeling exhausted. long gone the plans for a spa and a hot bath, nobara took you from one shop to another to buy a new outfit just for the date. she took you to a nail salon afterward (well that one was according to plan) and after that, the two of you went to this expensive-looking salon to get your make-up done.

"of course." nobara glared, causing you to raise your hand in surrender. she told the artist to do something about the eyeliner so it can point out your eye features, which all that you're never familiar with. you've never been one to use make-up unless for special occasions like a wedding or something, and it has been so long since you've been into one. your daily job doesn't require you to wear make-up either, so you settled for just skincare. but perhaps, today is a special occasion indeed.

when the process is done, both the artist and nobara looked satisfied. they gave you thumbs out and after paying, the two of you returned to the car where nitta-san was waiting. upon seeing you, though, she awed in admiration.

"now you're ready," she smiled. you thanked her bashfully, suddenly feeling nervous. you've texted fushiguro that you're done ten minutes earlier, to which he responded by saying he's already by the Starbucks near the amusement park already. you felt like puking throughout the journey there.

"what if i'm overdressed?" you asked for the umpteenth time.

nobara picked a simple white dress for you, ones that go down to your knees. you have long legs, the brunette examined. you were slightly taller than her but below maki-san, and just like what nobara said, you had long legs compared to your torso making the dress a perfect match. it was collared and the buttons went down to your midsection, while the area just below it had rubber, therefore, showcasing your features nicely. the sleeves went down to your elbow giving you enough warmth for this early summer night.

"trust me, you look perfect. fushiguro would love it." nobara answered, using her phone to take pictures of you. "smile," she said and you tried your best to look natural. your friend smiled at the picture and turn to you, placing her phone in her pocket. it's time for some serious talk.

"don't worry too much, this is your opportunity to have fun once in a while. fushiguro's awkward sometimes, but i know you can handle him." she grinned, sending a wink to you. you bit your bottom lip, careful not to ruin the lipstick. nitta-san announced that you're nearing the destination and you felt sick.

"i want to go home." panicking, you clutch to nobara's arm. the brunette laughed, prying your hands off of her with force. she succeeded on the first try, giving you a wide smile as the car stops. "enjoy your date," she blew you a kiss while nitta-san out of nowhere opened the door for you. taking a deep breath and gulping down, you stepped out of the car. nobara even bought you these white sneakers as a gift. you sighed, breath shaky.

before you closed the door, you smiled your best to her. "thankyou, nobara." she sent you multiple winks, now phone back in hand to record what's about to happen. you ignored her (more like didn't notice) and turn to nitta-san, bowing to the older woman who patted your back affectionately. not every day these students get to have a date, and she wishes you a happy one.

as the car sped away, you turned on your heels. you were about to call megumi when he appeared out of nowhere in this parking lot and the sight had you frozen. remember when you thought he was gorgeous? well, now he looks way more than usual and you never thought it would be possible.

megumi wore a long-sleeved black shirt, an oversized one, you noticed. it had a v-cut, a deep one actually that gave you a glimpse of his pale chest. his collarbones seemed to be more prominent with the choice of clothing, with some part of the shirt tucked into his black ripped skinny jeans. his tall body went nicely with the outfit, surely turning him into an eye-candy as you catch passerby glancing at him.

the two of you were shocked at each other's appearances and silence hangs in the air for a good fifteen seconds. megumi coughed, trying not to blush because he won't be able to hide it this time. "let's go."

nodding slowly, the two of you walked side by side to the entrance of the amusement park. thankfully it wasn't too crowded since it's a weekday and the two of you had no problem buying the tickets. megumi paid for it, though. you argued, but he said you can treat him with foods once inside. finding it fair, you didn't argue further.

the worries you had from earlier about anything and everything disappeared once inside the park. nausea, the jittery, and all that dissipates into thin air as you take in the scenery, eyes shining in excitement. megumi watched as you returned to your usual self and breaks the ice between you two.

"where do you want to go first, megumi?" there. he had waited for you to call his name again after what happened last night. call him sappy but he got butterflies in his stomach at the sound.

"i'll follow your preferences," he replied. megumi saw as you scanned the map in your hands, a pamphlet given along with the tickets earlier. when you turned at him with shining eyes, megumi felt his heart stopped beating for a second. "let's go to the lan lan area!"

he lets you lead the way, walking right beside you as you read out the rides available in the area. you asked what he wanted to ride first and after researching about the park himself, megumi wanted to try the milky way attraction. it's a skydiver type and he wondered how would it feels like. the two of you walked in line at the entrance, all the while you exclaimed about how it's going to feel. megumi listened to all your rambles, giving a few responses here and there.

he enjoyed seeing you talk so freely like this. it's like the two of you are just normal teenagers just like anyone else here; no jujutsu, no curses, no threats. just the two of you having fun and that's what megumi wanted it to be. he watched you spread your arms in the air as the ride started, feeling the gush of wind through your body. megumi had his arms folded, more focused on you rather than enjoying the ride.

the journey continued to the ride in the same area, named crazy stooon. it was your pick, and megumi visibly paled at the sight. you of course noticed and tugged at his shirt. "if you don't want to it's okay, i can go by myself." you smiled at him and quickly megumi shook his head. this was nothing compared to what he has experienced and he wanted to accompany you through every single ride.

so he clutched tight to safety, making sure the seatbelts were attached many times. beside him, you noticed his nervousness and reached your left hand out. megumi stared at your palm, then to you. "hold my hand, it'll feel better." you smiled, and megumi gulped. he took your offer and grabbed onto your hand, feeling the warmth. the whole time he was thinking of ways to hold your hand and he can't believe the first time it would be because he's scared.

"enjoy the ride, megumi." you squeezed his hand as the ride goes up, ready to drop at any time with a speed. you screamed in excitement when it did while he kept his eyes and mouth shut, focusing on your hand holding his instead. after the second drop he got used to the feeling and opened his eyes, to find you staring at him with a big grin. he noticed you using your cursed energy to maintain your hair in place, causing him to laugh.

the rest of the ride went perfectly because you get megumi to laugh once again, a sight you carve into your mind carefully. he teased you about your hair once it finished and you chuckled, "nobara told me over and over again to not mess it up soo," you shrug. you pointed to another ride and were ready to walk there when megumi tugs at your wrist and once again intertwining your hands together.

it stopped you in your tracks and you feel the blush creeping into your face, smiling bashfully. god, you thought, i feel so silly. but it's a good kind of silly. if it comes to megumi, you think you'll just let anything slide, and little did you know that megumi felt the same. you squeezed his hand and continued walking hand in hand with shy smiles upon your faces.

the next rides went rather smoothly. you choose not to pick extreme ones after finding that he doesn't enjoy them very much. the both of you agreed to skip the haunted house because obvious reasons and that leaves two remaining attractions. you stopped at the shateki booth, resting your hands on your hips.

"are you up for a challenge?" you taunted him, to which he responds with a smirk. "what's the bet?"

after deciding that the winner gets the loser to do anything for the rest of the day, the two of you bought the tickets for shooting targets. megumi was the first to go and it ended with a total of seven perfect shots from ten. you smirked as you took the toy riffle, taking a deep breath to prepare yourself. both your cursed techniques are good for ranged combats, but megumi seems to forget that you're a little bit better than him within the aspect.

he gaped when you managed to score a perfect ten, therefore making you the winner. he recommended trying out the other games as well like ring toss and throwing darts which you excel at as well, to the point he suspected you use cursed energy.

you laughed heartily, "of course i didn't. i'm just better than you, megumi." you teased him once again and he rolled his eyes. your first wish was to take pictures together at the photo booth and he followed, of course, hand in hand. he watched as you beamed with excitement the whole time, feeling happy that you are happy. that's all that matters right now.

megumi was confused at how the machine works, but you handled them just fine. you had no trouble moving through the park as well, and knew each attraction very well. he can't help but ask how did you know, and sheepishly you answered. "i looked it up from the internet," the answer once again reminded megumi of how badly you wanted to visit this place, and he was glad he took you here.

you shuffled closer, arms flushed against each other. "there will be four sequences, so follow my lead." you told him and he furrowed his brows. megumi saw you smiling and putting up a peace sign like you always do in pictures, and he resolved with a small smile for the first picture. while waiting for the second, you turned to him with a pout as a silent plea for him to just follow along. while you did so, though, the blitz went off and you groaned. megumi chuckled at the adorable reaction, finally giving a big smile for the third picture while you whined.

"megumii," you protested, forcing a smile for the final picture. he resolved by turning his head and looking at you from the side, once again settling with the small smile. you felt your cheeks heat up again under his stare, immediately busying yourself with printing the pictures. you handed him one of the copies, and he stared at the picture. megumi didn't bother checking how he looked, only focusing on how adorable you looked with expressions he has never seen before.

"can you keep mine for now? i don't want to fold it," megumi asked after a while, still sitting down in the booth. you took the item from him and put it inside your small pouch, the gesture somehow so endearing for you. when the two of you left the booth, the sun had begun to set. that leaves you with the final ride; the ferris wheel.

thankfully the line wasn't long and after buying two pink cotton candies, the two of you lined up for the ride. megumi watched you enjoy the cotton candy, eyes busy scanning your surroundings. in the comfortable silence, he got to observe you under the orange lightings of the park. he never saw you wear make-up before. sometimes he encounters you and nobara wearing face masks in the dorm and that's it. that way, you looked stunning this evening.

the make-up pointed out your features nicely. from your skin tone to your eyebrows and eyes, down to your lips. he wanted to thank whoever did that because they were able to put such a good work (especially the cherry lips, megumi loved it very very much). the next topic is your hair. you rarely let them down, often tying them into a ponytail or messy bun. as much as he liked your hair down, he couldn't blame you. it won't be comfortable to have your hair get in the way during practice or battle. with the long locks now styled into neat waves, it gave him a new look at you and he liked it.

in a way, he's happy that he gets to see you this way. only him. that is clearly selfish of him but for once, he wants to indulge in the feeling. you also rarely wear skirts and dresses aside from the uniform. your type of everyday clothes was similar to his, and megumi decided he should thank gojo for this outfit he wore because it would be a shame to come with his usual attire.

the white dress complimented your skin tone nicely and it showcases your slender figure. to put it short, megumi loved this look on you. he was probably staring because you poked his cheek and it caused him to blink a few times before focusing on you.

"you were staring," you murmured, walking ahead. megumi didn't even notice it's already your turn to enter the ride. he followed you into the carriage and sat down across each other. only then he answered, "can't help it, you look beautiful."

megumi smiled. he meant what he said and he hoped you understand. he saw you blushing again, what an adorable sight to see. you peeked at him from behind your cotton candy, and this time you took turn staring at him.

"you look great too, though i never saw this outfit before," you muttered, and megumi shrugged. "believe it or not, gojo-sensei bought these for me."

his words made you laugh and megumi loved the sound. by then, he realized that he has fallen for you, deep. there's literally no going back from this. as your laughter died down, you looked at him with sincerity.

"for real, though, you look handsome." you complimented and it's his turn to blush, hiding his face by looking to the side. megumi rested his chin on his palm, looking at the view outside. the ferris wheel moved slowly to the top.

"didn't you notice? a lot of girls were looking at you," you snickered and the tone caused megumi to turn to you in an instant. you had your eyes squinted, looking displeased. "they were ogling." you chomp a chunk of cotton candy rather harshly into your mouth, causing him to smirk.

"are you jealous?" he inquired, tone teasing. he expected you to shy away once again, only for you to stare at him right in the eye.

"why would i be? the whole time, you had my hand in yours." you shrug casually. this is one of the rare moments where you sound so sure of yourself and megumi found it so attractive. when it's adorable to see you getting all shy, your confidence beats anything else. he silently prays to see this side of you more.

"feisty," he commented and you responded with a wink. "yet you like me."

the words left your mouth without thinking and you cursed yourself at the look on megumi's face. he seemed just as shocked as you were and you panicked, did you read everything wrong? did you get way too over-confident? did everything from yesterday were only meant as a close friend? your mouth opened and closed like a fish, trying to find the right words. the euphoria you felt from all the rides made you lose your mind, apparently.

"i-"

"yeah, i do."

your eyes widen at his words. megumi looked at you, deep blue eyes shining brightly. his dark and long lashes flutter when he blinked, and the sunlight kissed his skin warmly. you gulped.

he called your name, "i like you." three simple words, but it sent you into heaven.

just yesterday you were confused at what you guys were and the universe was kind enough to give you the answer this fast. you put the cotton candy aside, the whole time megumi's gaze never falters. he had a soft expression upon his face, something you've never seen before until yesterday under the tree. at that time, you felt so special under his gaze, like you were the only person in the world.

"i like you too, megumi." you stated, the words rolled off your tongue like it was meant to be. he only smiled, reaching forward to grab your right hand and placed a light kiss on your knuckles. you felt like melting.

"name your wishes and I'll grant them, princess."

there are myths going around that making a wish on a ferris wheel will make it come true. it was stupid, honestly, but with megumi in front of you like this, looking so ethereal in all his glory and once again saying he'll grant your wishes, you succumbed to it.

"i wish to always be with you."

bonus

nobara squealed in the back seat as she saw megumi walking towards you, for the first time ever finding her friend actually attractive. she immediately texted her teacher, thanking him for his help.

she then sent the picture of both you and fushiguro standing in front of each other to a group chat with the message: mission succeed!

responses began came flooding in, itadori typed in all caps while maki complimented megumi's choice of outfit. panda and inumaki sent a selfie of them giving thumbs-up, and nobara smiled in victory. no one really expected a relationship to bloom between the two given how oblivious they were, so when you called megumi with his first name, they all celebrated.

nobara glanced one last time at the parking lot before leaving, "oh my God," she mumbled to herself. nitta asked her what's wrong, and nobara shrieked.

"they're like that one meme!" nobara exclaimed, scrolling through her phone for the picture. nitta was confused, but when nobara showed her the picture it sent her into a laughing fit. nobara forwarded the picture into the group chat, causing another ruckus.

megumi will never hear the end of that joke later.
