Work Text:
Sam was always the first one to wake up, while Bucky slept in the majority of the time. He’d either wake up a few hours after Sam or during the afternoon. The only times Bucky wakes up as early as Sam or at the same time as him are when he absolutely has to, if not, then he’ll most likely sleep in. But it wasn’t a problem for Sam. Besides, he deserved it.
This time, though, it was one of the few times when Bucky had to wake up early. It was six in the morning when the alarm Sam had set up on his phone went off, making him groan and roll onto his side, reaching over for his phone and turning off the alarm. With a sigh, he turned back around, facing Bucky, who was still deep in slumber. Sam smiled slightly, watching how his chest rose and fell with each steady breath, and admired how peaceful he looked in his sleep.
He reached up and tucked a strand of hair behind his ear gently, as to not wake him up. The two of them had to get out of bed soon, but Sam couldn’t bring himself to wake the sleeping man up. Pulling his hand away, Sam kept his eyes on Bucky’s face, taking in all of his features—the slope of his nose, his sharp jaw...and his lips.
A lightbulb lit up above Sam’s head as an idea came to him.
Sam slowly leaned into him, but pulled away almost immediately, cheeks warm, realizing how embarrassing the situation actually was. Of course he couldn’t wake up Bucky with a kiss. Sure, they were dating and all, but still...
He watched as Bucky opened his eyes, cool blue meeting warm brown. “Well, if you won’t do it, then I will,” he muttered, voice hoarse from sleep. Sam’s eyes widened for a moment just as Bucky pressed his lips against his own, kissing him gently. Sam smiled into the kiss and kissed him back. Bucky placed his hand on Sam’s cheek and caressed it gently with his thumb, the metal cooling Sam’s hot skin.
“Good morning,” Bucky said after slowly pulling away, still holding Sam’s face in his hand. “Good morning to you, too,” Sam chuckled, smiling at his boyfriend.
