Albedo's Hypothesis

Summary:

“What I meant to say is that I, Kaeya Alberich, will present to you... an assignment!”

“Homework.” Albedo said with a dull tone.

Kaeya grinned and confirmed, "Homework!” Albedo sighed. “Your assignment is to use your words to express your forever love for me, your boyfriend.”

Where Albedo is just so bad at feelings that Kaeya gives him an assignment. And he produces some interesting results???

Notes:

so. i never meant to write ever again. but honestly i got bored so here is my take on the kaebedo kind of dynamic. where Kaeya is the flirty one but whenever Albedo actually makes a move, he's a blushy mess :p

albedo gets the help of like 4 other characters because he's just that bad at feelings huh? and also the narrator as i mentioned is a little too into the story. so take it that the narrator can also be a character in the story too LMAO

also i don't know how to write poems so please do not bully me, thank you!

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Albedo is a weird person. Most of Mondstadt has that exact thought in their head whenever they spot a young, blonde alchemist rushing about in the bustling city of freedom. They each have their different reasons for that thought. One could say that it’s because he sketches some of the most random things. Cups, brick walls, birds that even he is unsure if they’re alive or not. Others could say that it’s because he barely talks. Only a number of people have heard a full sentence from him, and that’s when he’s having a conversation with his students, Timaeus and Sucrose.

“Sucrose is a lucky person,” Many girls would say. Why? Because the said alchemist may be weird, but he’s weirdly attractive. His soft yet piercing light blue eyes, and hair that seem to be uniquely styled by a certain spark knight. His interesting attire seems to fit his slim body perfectly and monotone face that looks pretty from any angle. How could someone not stare at him as he walks by the city streets?

“No, you’re wrong. Kaeya is,” Kaeya is what? Attractive? Well, yes definitely, no one can argue with that. Or maybe a certain red-haired man could, but besides the point, the true answer is that Kaeya is the true lucky person. Sure, Sucrose has had many exchanged words with Albedo, but what about someone who Albedo really really likes? Yes, believe it or not, Kaeya is his boyfriend.

And you’re probably wondering if Albedo doesn’t talk that much, how is the whole of Mondstadt aware of his relationship with that certain cavalry captain? Let’s just say, that a certain cavalry captain was drunk. And without Sister Rosaria on his side, what could he possibly do? Announce his relationship with Albedo for the whole world to hear? Psh, of course not! Oh, but I’m lying. He did.

What else could you possibly wonder about? How did they come to be in that relationship? One may never know. They never disclosed it.

Kaeya is a weird person. Most of Mondstadt has that exact thought in their head whenever they spot a tall, blue-haired Knight of Favonius strolling down the streets of the city of freedom. They each have their different reasons for that thought. One could say that it’s because he’s always smirking at whoever he’s talking to. One-third of the time, the victim of the smirking is always blushing. Others could say that it’s because he’s dating Albedo. Why choose him out of any of the more outgoing contestants of Mondstadt? Certainly, there’s someone who’s flirty and talkative enough to meet a Kaeya type of standard, no?

“I think he’s cute,” Kaeya simply says.

Albedo is a weird person. Albedo’s own brain has said so itself. But there’s only one true reason for that thought. Because he’s bad at feelings. They can exchange kisses and hugs when at home. But it’s like he’s not showing enough. Something just seems off. Like there’s something missing. Kaeya can see the sincerity in Albedo’s actions though, the alchemists’ eyes sparkling more than they usually do, and his cheeks rosy instead of the pale complexion that he usually wears. But to Albedo, there’s something wrong.

“Words.”

Albedo looked up from his ongoing experiment, “Pardon?”

“Words! Albedo, I’ve got it. You know how you mentioned that there’s something off about you, which by the way I’m trying to help with your past predicament so don’t overreact, but you just couldn’t place what?”

“Yes, Kaeya, I think I do,” The alchemist said, tilting his head in confusion.

“Well, I think the thing that’s missing from you, is words!” Kaeya said, wiggling his hands in an enthusiastic way.

“Words? But I can speak. Unless you can’t hear me. That might have been a result from a past experiment… Where is the antidote…” Albedo mumbled to himself, searching the various shelves.

“Uh, no Albedo, I can hear you,” Kaeya answered, grabbing hold of Albedo’s shoulders, “You said that you’ve felt guilty over how you think that you aren’t expressing your feelings well enough, right?”

It’s true. It was a rainy night when Albedo knocked on Kaeya’s door and heavily vented about how he felt about his part of the relationship. Kaeya didn’t really mind how he acts since he’s gotten to know Albedo a lot even before they started dating. He’s just, not like Kaeya is, that’s really all. But if Albedo really does want to better himself, who is he to not encourage him?

Kaeya clears his throat, “Words are an important part of a relationship. Being able to communicate clearly with your partner is key to a successful one. I’ve noticed that you do a lot of lovey-dovey actions, which I would like to let you know that I really enjoy,” He looked to see Albedo's face turn a bright red, oh how he loved to fluster the poor alchemist… “But you don’t really express your feelings through, you know, words!”

“Hmm… I guess you have a point… I’m just not that good at word… expressing?” Albedo answered with a slight shift in his sitting position.

“Exactly! Wait no, I’m not really saying that you’re bad at expressing- I mean you kinda are-” Albedo stared at Kaeya with an even more confused look on his face, “What I meant to say is that I, Kaeya Alberich, will present to you... an assignment!”

“Homework.” Albedo said with a dull tone.

Kaeya grinned and confirmed, "Homework!” Albedo sighed. “Your assignment is to use your words to express your forever love for me, your boyfriend.” Kaeya explained, his pride growing more and more after coming up with, as he said so himself, a “brilliant” idea.

“Oh alright, I guess. So,” Albedo awkwardly cleared his throat, “I love you and I think that you’re very nic-”

“Nuh-uh, Mr. Alchemist, there are rules for this assignment too. Rule number one,” Kaeya started to pace around the laboratory, “You will only be able to complete the assignment, if you are able to make me flustered. You know, like how I always make your whole face red?” Albedo looked away. “Rule number two, if you ever need help, you can ask only one person.”

“And who might that be?” Albedo questioned.

“You, Albedo, must choose wisely, who.”

“Is that it? This kind of seems impossible...”

“Yup! You are dismissed.”

“Kaeya, this is my laboratory.”

“...Right! Also, anything is possible.” Kaeya said with a wink.

The next day, Albedo mustered up the courage to call Kaeya over to his laboratory once again. Kaeya bounded over within minutes and knocked on the door.

“Albedo? You called?”

“Yes, come in.” Albedo said.

The door opened and in walked the much taller man.

“Kaeya, I am ready to show you my assignment.” Albedo said firmly.

“Wow, isn’t that fast! Wait, did you get any help from anyone?”

“No.” Of course, he wouldn’t. Albedo was never one to ask for help from people. Only if he really needed it. And that’s usually when he couldn’t reach something on the top shelf. No matter how many times Sucrose and Timaeus have insisted on helping him with a hard procedure, he just won’t give it up. Muttering something about only really getting help from his old master.

“Oh boy…” Kaeya muttered under his breath. Knowing how Albedo was, this wasn’t going to end that well.

“Kaeya, I really like you. Wait no, love you. You make me feel happy and I also think that you are very pleasant to look at. I also like to look at your ches- your FACE!” It seemed that the alchemist was turning redder by the second.

Stifling a laugh, Kaeya walked over to the blonde. “Alright Albedo, that’s enough, no need to- pfk- embarrass yourself anymore.” It seems that Kaeya really isn’t that good at hiding his laughter as more odd sounds came out of him. Albedo just let out a defeated sigh.

“I guess I’m just bad at feelings.”

“No no no, Albedo you’re not! You did fail this attempt though, I’ll tell you that. But listen to me,” Kaeya said, grabbing hold of both his hands, “This assignment has no set deadline, so take as long as you need. I will wait for you, no matter how long it takes. Also, like I said, you can choose someone to help you out.”

Albedo nodded, his eyes still a little downcast. “Seems like you’re very good with words… unlike me.” Kaeya let out a guilty sigh, was this assignment really a “brilliant” idea? He pulled the other into his arms and they stayed there for a bit until Jean accidentally walked in, her eyes were wide in shock, calling Kaeya to help clear out a hilichurl camp.

Albedo guesses that his last resort is to ask for help. But who? He sat at his desk and pondered over three possible choices. It took around a whole day for him to finish conducting research from each choice, knocking off two of them.

First was a woman named Eula. A descendant from the Lawrence Clan. She was well-spoken since she came from the old aristocracy. Albedo never met her but has heard about her plenty of times from Amber. He figured that if her more fancy way of speaking were to influence his words, that maybe Kaeya would be flustered. But all didn’t go well when he found her standing in the hallway of the Knights of Favonius headquarters. He walked up to her and introduced himself, expecting her to say something like, “You! Lowly citizen, I command you to blah blah blah!” But really all she said was, “Hey.” When Albedo questioned her surprisingly normal way of speaking, Eula laughed it off and said that she “didn’t want to be like those guys”. He guesses that Eula will not be of a lot of help.

Next was a young woman named Fischl. Albedo has run into her multiple times while gathering research. He was always interested in her way of speaking, but still couldn’t quite grasp what exactly she was saying. When he finally found her after asking around, she looked exhausted, so naturally, the first thing Albedo asked was if she was okay. She told him that “I’m so tired from all those adventures with Bennett and Razor… I need to go to bed.” Alright then, Albedo will ask about her way of talking later then! Wait. But she just spoke as normally as any other citizen of Mondstadt. Was that really all an act? It seemed that the purple bird that goes by the name Oz that follows Fischl around, must have noticed his confusion. He quickly explained why Fischl acts in such a way, and hurriedly flew after her to accompany her to rest.

It seems that all those people who he thought could help, weren’t of much help either. They were a lot different from what he’s heard from other people. Albedo reminded himself to not easily believe things that people say. So he needed someone who naturally talks in a way that can assist the alchemist in his expression. Albedo is weird in a way where he has a lot to say but just can’t say it in the manner that he wants to. So who could he go to? Well, simply the answer is,

Lisa.

Albedo has talked to Lisa multiple times, either when he needed to borrow a book for research or when he first met her when he arrived in Mondstadt for the first time. He vaguely remembers that encounter. Her way of carrying out conversation was a little… questionable. Albedo would call it flirty since he knows that Kaeya is flirty and he talks funny like Lisa does. Only that Kaeya’s way of talking makes him feel all fuzzy inside. Lisa is certainly a smart person, but Albedo just can’t quite grasp her way of thinking when she says things like, “Well aren’t you a little cutie, Albedo?”. But that’s not the issue here. So currently he was striding up to the library desk where Lisa was sitting with her legs put up on a stool, yawning.

“...make sure to return your book in 2 weeks time… Albedo?”

Albedo gave the librarian a small nod, “Yes. It is me.”

“Oh hey, cutie!” Oh, here she goes again. “Do you need something? I think someone already rented the book about purple frogs though…”

“No, I actually need help with something.”

“Like finding a book?”

“No.”

“Sweetie, you need to tell me exactly what you need help with then,” Lisa said, laughing quietly.

Why is it so awkward to ask about a relationship kind of thing? Albedo is sure that Lisa knows about them dating but it’s still embarrassing in a way. “I need help with, uhm, a relationship thing.”

“Oh-hoh, a love thing?” Lisa asked, emphasizing the word love as she rested her head on her hands. Albedo simply nodded, looking at the ground. “Cutie, you shouldn’t be embarrassed about anything of the sorts. So, tell me what you need help with?”

And so Albedo summarized his situation. How Kaeya explained that words were an important part of the relationship and how he has trouble picking the right words to express his feelings. He explained how he felt constantly frustrated that he can’t show his feelings correctly and how he feels horrible when he notices Kaeya’s way of expressing himself as compared to his. Okay, maybe Albedo overshared a bit there but it seems that Lisa was listening to each and every word.

“Hm… actually, cutie, this is a normal problem that many people in relationships deal with. Even my own relationship has a kind of problem like yours! You know, Jean is a lot like y-” Lisa clears her throat, “You know there are really a lot of people like you, so don’t get too hurt over things like that.”

“But how do you fix it?”

“You can’t exactly fix it, but you may improve yourself. So you said that just saying the words doesn’t seem like it’s helping, right?” Albedo nodded. “Ah! Do you remember the Windblume festival? Oh, but you didn’t really attend a lot of it… But, do you know how that little boy held a poetry class?”

Albedo thought to himself, then remembered when Kaeya came up to Albedo one day with a poem about how ‘Mi Muhe Ye” means I Love You in Hilichurlian. He’s sure he mentioned something about Venti being the teacher, “Venti?”

“Yes! Venti. I’m sure you’ve received a poem from Kaeya at that time too, right?” There was a moment of silence and so the librarian took that as a yes, “So I propose that you write a poem for Kaeya too!”

Albedo nearly chokes on air. “Me?”

“Yes! Poems are a great way to express feelings but in a more beautiful way. It’s expressed differently while clearly showing how much you care for your partner. So what do you say? I’ll help of course.”

Albedo thought for a moment. If she’s so sure of it working, then she should be correct, right? He was a little skeptical of her method but he set that thought aside with how desperate he was growing to pass the assignment.

“Okay.”

What Lisa meant by help… wasn’t really helping. She showed Albedo multiple references to past love poems and explained their purpose if Albedo was unsure of it. But when the alchemist asked for her to help write his poem, she refused. I know, what an odd way of “helping” right? When he asked why, she said that, in his current situation, this should also be a learning experience too. If Lisa were to help him write the poem the whole way, then it wasn’t really Albedo’s expression anymore, right? Instead, to keep Albedo’s writing going, she asked him all about Kaeya. She wanted to get to know Kaeya from the blonde’s point of view, and maybe assist in some metaphors and similes that Albedo couldn’t come up with himself. She asked him what he thought of Kaeya’s personality, and if he liked that it heavily contrasts Albedo’s, how he expresses his feelings for him, and also we can’t forget what Albedo thinks of his looks. That part flustered him a bit but Lisa could see him write a little faster than before. It took a lot of trial and error, reviewing and proofreading, and maybe three or so hours when Albedo’s poem was finally finished. After reading it over one more time with his mentor, he folded the paper in half and tucked it into his pocket.

“Thank you, Lisa. I truly appreciate it,” Albedo said.

“Oh no problem, cutie! Come back whenever you need more love advice! I’m skilled in all aspects.” Lisa said with a small smirk, “But, in all seriousness, Mr. Albedo, I hope that your assignment will turn out well. Bye bye, cutie!”

As Albedo walked home, the sky being dark already, he caught a silhouette in the background. Judging by the height and tousled hairstyle, Albedo knew that it was the person that he was just writing a poem about.

“Hey, love. How’s your day?” Kaeya asked, walking to Albedo’s side and grabbing his hand.

“I’d say it was pretty productive,” Albedo answered.

“Oh? What did you do to say you were so productive?” Kaeya questioned, a teasing tone to his voice. As if he knew that Albedo was just writing some sort of sappy love poem.

“Nothing much.”

“Nothing?” Kaeya lets out a sarcastic gasp, “Should I maybe ask around… to see what you were doing? At the library?” Albedo’s eyes widened, his grip on his hand tightened.

“I was researching about… purple frogs.”

“I saw Sucrose holding that book a few days ago though, hm?”

“Th-then I was-”

“Ah, Albedo I was just teasing. I hope your productive day went well,” Kaeya stated, kissing his forehead, “But just so you know… in order to fluster me, you must do something extraordinary! Goodnight, love.” Albedo watched as his boyfriend parted ways into his own house.

...Extraordinary? What is he implying? Is a poem really not enough for him? Oh, must we say this again? Kaeya is a weird person. Why does he require so much?

The next day, Albedo had a goal. To get help from one more person. And before you go scolding the poor alchemist for breaking the rule, he has figured out that this person doesn’t actually go against the rule. He needs help choosing a gift for Kaeya. Extraordinary must mean that he wants a gift… right? It’s something extra plus the words that he has to present to Kaeya. Oh but Albedo will think of that later. Just the thought of reading the poem out loud makes his heart pound. The assignment is about words, a gift is an action. Therefore it doesn’t count! Albedo said so.

And so he strode up once again to another person, but this time, it was his assistant, Sucrose. Sucrose is a sweet girl. She was always willing to help Albedo with whatever he needed and tried her best, even though she couldn’t quite reach Albedo’s level of intelligence.

“You want me, to help you, Mr. Albedo, choose a gift for Kaeya?” Sucrose squeaked, readjusting her glasses as if that would help her hear clearer, the nonsense that Albedo just spoke.

“Yes, Sucrose.”

“Why me? I mean, I don’t think I’m experienced enough for something like this-”

“But whenever you say that, you always actually do well.”

“Th-thank you for the compliment, but I’m serious, Mr. Albedo!” And yes, she was in fact serious. When she was asked to give a kid something interesting to play with as a gift, she gave the poor kid a bird bone and a duck’s beak. The kid was traumatized and Sucrose was scolded. Although she really did think that those parts of an animal were interesting… well at least to her. “I suggest… looking for someone else.”

“And who might that be?”

“Amber!”

Albedo glanced at her with a confused expression, “Amber?”

“Trust me, Mr. Albedo. I think she might be able to help.”

“Alright, thank you for your input. Remember to submit your report on pink frogs by next week. And for the last time, it’s just Albedo.”

"I thought it was purple frogs?"

Alright, Albedo needs just one more person to help him, promise. Amber is also part of the Knights of Favonius. He has spoken with her on many occasions but it's usually about work. He's not close with her personally but he does understand why Sucrose thinks Amber would help. From his observations, you could say she's almost like Lisa. But not in the way where she heavily flirts with everyone. She's just really good at giving advice, perhaps love advice.

"Oh hey, Albedo! What's up? Do you need anything? I just finished clearing out another hilichurl camp with Kaeya. I wonder where they all come from…" Amber said. Ooh Kaeya, that's all that has been on Albedo's mind for a few days straight. Just the thought of presenting his poem, still makes his heart pound- "Albedoooo? What are you just standing there for?"

"Oh right. Amber, I need help choosing a gift for the… person you cleared that camp out with."

"A gift! For Kaeya? For what occasion? An anniversary?" She gasps, "A WEDDING?"

"A wedding?" Albedo exclaimed, "No, certainly not, where'd you get that idea from? Anyway, I just need to give him a gift, that's all."

"Hm… okay! Alright, join me and sit at this table, let's talk about some gift ideas!"

They didn't really talk. It was more of them sitting at the table with Albedo politely watching Amber's face change a thousand times. He's guessing that she's pondering over gift ideas without really asking for his input. He didn't really mind because he doesn't have any gift ideas in the first place.

"Okay! I've got it. Your gift should be a bouquet of flowers but it's only made up of cecilias and calla lilies!"

A bouquet of flowers? Why are all these ideas so… old-fashioned? At least Albedo thinks so. He thought that he would just say some nice words and give Kaeya something to clean his sword or something…

“I know, I know, you probably think this gift is weird or old-fashioned,” Amber begins to say. How did she know what Albedo was thinking? Amber certainly is a weird person, “But here me out. When you want to choose a gift, you need to think about the meaning of it, to truly show how you feel! So I will explain to you what this bouquet of flowers means.”

Amber then proceeded to explain that a bouquet of flowers symbolizes purity, joy, and most importantly, love. She said then that she knows what Albedo and Kaeya’s favorite flower is, for some reason. Albedo wonders how she knows. So she suggested mixing both calla lilies and cecilias to symbolize that they are bound to be together.

“So! What do you think?” The outrider asked. After her explanation, Albedo understood the point of the flowers a little more now. It still confused him and he has a small sense of doubt that this wouldn’t be enough to fluster his boyfriend. But Albedo doesn’t want to ask another person for help, so this would have to do.

“Okay. I will make the bouquet now. Thank you.”

“Good luck, Albedo!”

It took yet another whole day to prepare something for his assignment. Albedo doesn’t really have a lot of thoughts going on in his head, unlike some people. But this time, he does. He worries that he will fail again and that Kaeya would be upset with him. Albedo really isn’t good with words and feelings.

“Albedo!” He heard a voice from behind him as he was picking up a calla lily from the water. He turned around to see the owner of the voice and when he caught sight of the familiar blue hair, he instantly hid the flowers behind his back. “What are you doing? I just finished some work. It’s a surprise to see you here.”

“Oh. Hey Kaeya.” Albedo said, trying his best to hide the white petals from the cecillias, “I was just… gathering stuff for… research.”

“That’s great! What kind of research? Mayhaps… it’s about me?” Kaeya said, a visible smirk on his face.

Albedo widened his eyes once again and scrambled to put together an explanation. But all he really said was, “NO!” And he tightened his grip on the flowers and headed in the direction of Mondstadt. Headed as in he literally ran for his life.

Kaeya just stared at his boyfriend. Even though it looked like Kaeya was aware of each and everything that Albedo was planning, he really had no idea. He couldn’t see the flowers behind his back and he didn’t see Albedo writing a poem with Lisa. He really was just teasing. Maybe he should stop, he ponders. Nah, Albedo’s really cute when flustered though.

Back at Mondstadt, Albedo was busy putting together his gift. He borrowed a ribbon from Sucrose and worked for much longer than he intended arranging the flowers so that it was visible for Kaeya to see both the cecilias and calla lilies. Albedo hopes that Kaeya’s smart enough to understand the meaning as Amber explained. He then tied it with the shiny ribbon and set it down next to his poem. Tomorrow would be the day where Albedo would present his assignment. He wasn’t sure if it was going to turn out well. Whether Kaeya doesn’t get flustered, or Albedo himself, would be too flustered to present it.

The next day as he just finished eating breakfast, he heard a knock on the door. Albedo got up to go and hide the gift and poem when the door already got pushed open.

“Wait, wait, don’t come in yet! I’m just-”

“Albedo!!”

Albedo looked down to see Klee looking up to him with her bright, big eyes.

“Oh! Klee! What are you doing here?”

“I just wanted to see my brother! What’s that?” Klee asked pointing to where Albedo was clutching the bouquet and poem.

“Ah… it’s just something I will give to Kaeya.”

“Oooh Kaeya! Is it special?” Klee asked.

“I suppose.”

“Then what are you doing dressed like that?” Albedo looked down at his clothes. It was just his average everyday clothes though? What else did Klee expect? A suit and tie? Haha, very funny Albedo, you were close!

“If it’s a special occasion, mommy always told me to dress up well. You’re only wearing normal clothes! You must wear fancy clothes!” Klee said wiggling her fingers like how Kaeya usually does when he’s excited.

“I… don’t think that’s necessary, Klee. It’s just-”

“Nope nope nope nope nope. I’m not listening! Come here, where are you’re clothes?” Klee said, jumping up and down and grabbing Albedo’s hand, and pulling him to his closet.

It’s been ten minutes and Klee still wasn’t done rummaging through the alchemist’s messy closet. Clothes were all over the floor at this point and Albedo watched in horror as the state of it got even worse, but he couldn’t quite stop the little girl now.

“I’m done!” Klee exclaimed, pulling out a white flowy button-up shirt and plain black pants. What is Klee thinking? Is this what she meant by dressing up well? This isn’t how Albedo would ever normally dress. Where did those clothes come from anyway? “Quick, quick! Put it on! Put it on!” Albedo sighed as he walked into another room to change. When he came back, he saw Klee holding hair ties and a watch.

“Hm… you look great!” Klee said, holding her hands up and making a thumbs-up gesture, “Now, I want to add more stuff to make you look more fancy.”

“Where did you get that watch?”

“I borrowed it!”

“From whom?”

Klee smiled, “It was on Master Diluc’s hand but I figured out how to unclip it so I took it!”

Isn’t that stealing? Albedo sighed once again. Hopefully, Kaeya won’t recognize it. Who knows how that would end? He watched as Klee took his wrist and slapped it on him and left it there, leaving Albedo to properly put it on because Klee was too confused by all the holes and clasps.

“Next, I will do your hair.”

“Klee, my hair is already done like how you usually want it.”

“No, I want you to match Kaeya more. He has more messy hair, and you do too, I think. But it’s not messy enough!” So Klee grabbed his head, accidentally squishing Albedo’s cheeks, and undid the braid. Klee was always good at styling hair, even at her young age. She probably learned it from Alice. So, Albedo waited as he felt Klee’s small hands pull his hair back into the half-ish ponytail again. But it was significantly smaller this time because the rest of the hair was left out. She let it frame his face in hopes that it would make his hair messier looking, rather than the neat hairstyle he usually wears. “And done! Where is the mirror?” She leads him to the opposite room and pushed him towards the mirror.

Now Albedo was never one to care for his looks. But when he saw himself in the mirror, he felt almost proud of how he looked. Proud? Why? Albedo is bad at feelings. But hey, at least he looks good.

“See? You’re all dressed up!”

Albedo smiled down at Klee and looked back at the mirror. His top complimented his complexion and hair color, and his pants somehow made his legs look a lot longer. What kind of Mona type of sorcery magic is this? Ah, and don’t forget how his shirt is unbuttoned by just one button... but it looks… good? Less put together, but good. His hairstyle was of course messier, but it framed his face perfectly.

“Klee is done dressing you up. Do you have to go now?”

“I think I do, Klee.”

“Wait, I have a Kamera. Let’s take a picture together!”

After posing with Klee in his new temporary outfit, he walked down the streets to Kaeya’s house. He got many looks on his way there. Some of them were in confusion but some of them were looking him up and down in a positive sort of way. He felt a little uncomfortable. Did he really look that good? Wait, Albedo don't get so confident, you have a poem to read out loud!

He knocked on the door and waited until he caught sight of the doorknob twisting open.

“Albedo? Is that you- wow.”

“...What?”

Kaeya looked him up and down just like the other citizens did. Again? “You look… great.” His voice cracked at the end. Really, Kaeya? You always win. Must you get flustered already? Luckily, Albedo didn’t notice as he pulled Kaeya out of the house.

“We are going to Starsnatch cliff.”

Of course, this was the perfect place to be romantic. The view of the clear water and flowers flowing in the background, the perfect place to fall in love! Or express words, as Albedo was about to do. The walk there was quiet since Albedo was busy figuring out how to even present his poem and Kaeya was too busy staring at his one and only love.

And now here they were standing at the top of Starsnatch cliff with Albedo facing Kaeya. He looked beautiful.

“Kaeya, I am ready to show you my assignment.”

“Go ahead.” Kaeya said with an encouraging smile.

In this world, there’s a lot of darkness
Ruin guards, cold mountains, and trampled flowers
But in this world, there’s also light
Cecilias, calla lilies, and festivals
But to me, there’s only one primary light
A light that shines brighter than a cecilia’s pure color
A light that brings joy to an average beating heart
Yet why does it make my heart beat faster?
Why do you make my face the color of a rose?
And why do you make me feel like I’m constantly walking on clouds?
Even in the darkness, there’s always a light in the background
A light that brightens my own world and guides me
Through my darkest times and through my darkest moments
Kaeya, you are my light

Without looking up to Kaeya, you know, because he’s too embarrassed, Albedo shoved the bouquet into his hands. “For you. I tried my best to express my feelings the best way I can… but it just doesn’t seem to be enough. So, I would like to add to my poem, to ensure my assignment is successful. Kaeya, you truly do make me happy, even though it sometimes looks like I don’t. Whenever you say weird things to me, or whatever it’s called, flirting, you make me feel all fuzzy inside. And I never thought someone like me deserves that feeling. Even though you can be a pain sometimes, I always look forward to seeing you, anytime of the day. So thank you, Kaeya, for making me happy.” Albedo finished, slowly looking up to where Kaeya’s face was.

But Kaeya wasn’t even facing him! Instead, he was looking off to the side. Why? Oh no, Albedo’s face drops into a worried frown. Did he fail the assignment, again? After all that he’s done? Oh, Albedo, why must you be so bad at feelings!

“Why are you looking at the ocean? Aren’t I right in front of you? Look at me, Kaeya, did I do something wrong? I’m sorry.”

“N-No you didn’t.”

Did he just stutter? Stutter? Kaeya stuttering? Ooh, that’s something you don’t see every day. Albedo was just left confused. The reason behind his stuttering… well that’s between you and I, yes?

Albedo grabbed Kaeya’s face and turned it to face him. “Kaeya, what are you- oh.”

“Wait, stop let go of me!” There were alarms ringing in Kaeya's brain because Albedo's face was dangerously close to his.

“Your face is red.” Oh-oh, everyone knows where this is going!

“No it’s not.”

“Yes it is, look. I am a good observer, Kaeya, what’s gotten you like this?”

“You know why I’m like this!” Kaeya scoffed, still attempting to break free from Albedo’s grasp.

“May I make a hypothesis?” Really, Albedo? Now? “Perhaps… I made you flustered.”

“That’s not true!” Kaeya exclaimed, scrambling away from his now smug boyfriend.

“No, come here and tell me that I passed the assignment!” Albedo said, chasing down Kaeya. Kaeya’s face was unbelievably hot. Definitely the weather right? But what about Albedo’s hypothesis? Judging by how smart he is, his hypothesis is most certainly correct.

For someone with such a small height, Albedo was unbelievably fast. As he caught up to Kaeya, he wrapped his arms around his waist and turned him around quickly. Apparently, that poem and the flowers in his hands were still on his mind because he’s still blushing. Keep it together, Kaeya.

“Did I pass or not?” Albedo asked, looking up.

There was a moment of silence before Kaeya swiftly picked up a surprised and even more flustered Albedo in his arms and kissed him right on the lips.

“Yes, yes you did.”

Albedo and Kaeya are weird people. They’re both incredibly different. One can easily fluster the other and makes endless flirty remarks. The other is quiet, calm, and civilized. Yet they fit together, perfectly.
