Spotting a god

Summary:

The syndicate goes to look at Las Nevadas, but Technoblade and Philza end up finding something more interesting: One of the four oldest gods

Notes:

I just want to say if you are also reading my other Dsmp!Slimecicle fic (How to be Human, go check it out), this is in fact in a different universe. I just also really loved this other concept for his character. Ok! Lets get into it

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

When the syndicate arrived at Las Nevadas, Philza and Technoblade felt something was off immediately.
The group had marked the new land as a potential government, so they decided to venture to see. Almost immediately they were swooped up by Quackity for a tour. Quackity was smart and eloquent with his speech and it wasn’t long before the four realized this was more of destination that country.

As they walked through the halls, Niki and Ranboo were infatuated with the bright lights of the place and the seemingly endless activities. Techno and Phil on the other hand, had a wave of anxiety they just couldn’t shake.

Something here was extremely old and extremely powerful and while not mortal could detect it, it was easy for the immortals too. The kept looking around them and at each other nervously, as it would pop out and attack at any moment. They thought their internal conflict would be resolved when they passed by Foolish, who, according to Quackity, regularly inhabit Las Nevadas. But even after they encountered the god of life and ocean, they still felt something even more old.

In their distraction to find the source of this power, neither Techno or Phil had noticed the voice that called out to Quackity. It wasn’t until the anxiety doubled that the two noticed the new person standing next to Quackity.
“This is my assistant” Quackity said almost tiredly as he gestured to the new comer.

It was another person who seemed to be bouncing off the walls with excitement. They had on a white t-shirt with three hearts sew into in and they also wore a green sash loosely on their waist. They introduced themselves as Charlie and by listening to their speech if patterns, it was obviously they were not not the most well educated in terms of social interaction or human interaction for that matter.
From the looks of it, it was a strange person. From a slightly closer look, it was something trying to be a person. And from the look of an immortal, it was something trying to be a person with immense power behind it.

And that scared the two.

They had no idea the intent of this powerful being miserably failing to pass as a human. Almost immediately after this revelation, the two silently began trying to communicate a plan of attack.

Where they the only two who new about this? Surely Foolish must know, but he seemed to not be concerned. Does Quackity know? Is he using this power?

But there was one thing the two new for sure... they had to talk to this “Charlie” and in private. Luckily, that would be easy for the two of them working together. While neither Phil nor Techno were gods, their combined power could get pretty close. So while Quackity was gesturing to some other building and everyone was distracted, Philza grabbed Technoblade hand and prayed.

A perk of being people being “blessed”, (though it felt more like a curse sometimes) with immortality by a god, was being able pray for something something to happen. And while prayers weren’t always answered, a simple one, like stopping time, was typically fulfilled. When the two reopened their eyes, the saw the busy streets of Las Nevadas were frozen. The tour group of was also frozen in place, still facing whatever Quackity had been talking about. The only thing out of place was Charlie was no longer standing by Quackity’s side.

Drawing their weapons, they scanned their surroundings for Charlie.

“What are your intentions?” Technoblade called out, his blood red eyes darting quickly around.

“We know about your power and you can’t hide” Philza said, knocking an arrow. The two stood back to back looking for signs of where the person went. After a few seconds of silence, Philza pulled on Techno’s sleeve.

“Mate, look” Phil said pointing ahead. Leading in between the tall buildings were a trail of red flowers. The two cautiously made their way over to the flowers. Phil’s eyes widened as he noticed what type of flowers were spread out.

Poppies.

“Poppies Techno.” Phil whispered in amazement. Techno’s eyes widened before narrowing. While poppies were a sign heavily associated with 1 of the oldest 4 gods, it had been a few millenniums since any of them had been seen even by other gods. There had been a supposed accident that had sent them away according to a few old gods. However in their absence their had been many imposters. Typically false gods luring in mortals with the presence of poppies in order to kill them.

Some idiot really thinks they can pull a fast one on me huh, Techno thought. “It’s gonna be a trap, some false god trying to be bigger than they are.” Techno warned Phil, “Keep your guard up”. Despite nodding in agreement, Technoblade knew Philza well enough to see in his eyes he hadn’t let go of the idea.

The two followed the trail of poppies, weapons readily assessable. They followed the trail to a cleaning. There stood a large triangular shaped structure, a replication of the Effile Tower. And high above them, Techno and Phil could spot a figure sitting on a beam.

Techno readied his cross bow and Phil aimed his bow.
“Who are you?” Techno’s voice boomed out over the dead silent desert. The two immortals couldn’t make out the figure’s features but they could see the outline turn towards them and cock it’s head. They watched the figure raise its hands almost in surrender.

“I won’t cause trouble for you I promise” the figure called down still using the voice of the assistant introduced prior.

“If you could come down, that would make things a lot better for you” Phil said, aiming at the figure’s head “We know what you aren’t”

“Do you though?” The figure called down, “I mean I hardly know you two but I still feel I know a tad more than you guys do. Or should I use your names, Technoblade and Philza?”
The two stood in shock before Techno quickly shoved a rocket into his crossbow and pointed at the figure.
“Shoot me. I dare you” The voice laughed.

And that was enough of an invitation for the two.

Techno launched his deadly rockets before instantly loading more. Phil launched arrow after arrow towards the figure. But once the dust cleared, the figure still sat in their same spot, laughing.
“I haven’t been hunted in years this is great!” They called down.

Philza and Techno started to get nervous. They were obviously dealing with a powerful entity.
“I’ll ask again, who or what are you” Techno called, “Answer me now or I’ll come up there my self and slice your head off.” The entity finally stopped it’s laughter.
“Fine, I’ll answer your questions if you can answer one of mine. Sounds good?” The entity asked. Techno and Phil looked at each other before looking back up. “That works. Now come down” Techno replied.
“Yes sir!” The figure said before extending their arms out and falling backwards off the Eiffel tower replica.

Now while they couldn’t die, they weren’t invincible and watching this entity fall off made the two’s stomaches drop. As they fell head first down however, Technoblade and Philza could get a better view of the entity and surprisingly it was the same person as before, same clothes and all.

Was this a mortal? Were about to watch some one die? Philza though in horror. Phil began to run towards the person despite knowing he’d be too late at this point. He watched as the person came crashing head first into the group, but instead of hitting the group, a large pile of poppies appeared under them and they disappeared into the pile.

Techno ran beside Phil and aimed down at the pile. Suddenly a green light blasted out from the pile, sending the two back. The crossbow and bow in their hands were thrown out. Philza started to try and stand up, but stopped when he looked over once again.

Standing above them in the pile of poppies was entity from before. They had the same face as Charlie still, but now their hair had a green streak in the front. They were now wearing long flowing green robes with red crystal hearts accenting the outfit. And at their side was a long sheathed sword.

Standing over them was one of the most ancient of the gods, a member of the high council, god of the craft and enchanting, one of the gods of chaos along with his other council members, Slimecicle.

After regaining his composure, knelt down before the ancient god.
“Phil wha-“ He heard Techno say beside him.
“Look” Phil said curtly, cutting Technoblade off. He heard Techno shift beside him before Phil heard Techno curse quietly. After a few seconds of shifting, Phil assumed he had knelt beside him because he heard the god laugh.

“Oh my it’s been so long since I’ve seen some other immortals, let alone me reveal myself, but you guys are different aren’t you!” Slimecicle said, “Look up, it’s so awkward”.

Phil raised his head up to view Slimecicle standing above him and Techno.
“I am so sorry for threatening you-“ Phil began to apologize.
“Nah nah none of that” Slimecicle interrupted, “I’m impressed to be honest! Stand now, I know a place we can talk”. The old god turned on his heels and walked away from the two still kneeling. Phil and Techno quickly stood and followed behind Slimecicle.

They walked for a good few minutes in silence before arriving at the a large space needle shown to them earlier by Quackity. Slimecicle stepped into the elevator first and while he shot up, Techno turned towards Phil.

“Can we trust this guy?” Techno asked “I mean he is a chaos god for a reason”.

“Do we have a choice? He could obliterate us easily. You know how old this guy is?” Philza responded.

Techno sighed, “You always give it to me straight Phil”. Technoblade turned towards the elevator and entered with Philza following quickly behind.

Entering the space needle, they surprisingly saw no one but Slimecicle. Their had been plenty of people they had passed by frozen on the way here, but not here for some reason. Only Slimecicle sat at a table with two other empty seats. The table was almost identical to all the others except for the glass vase that held a single poppy in it.

“Over here boys!” Slimecicle called from the table. The two other immortals made their way over and sat down.
“Now that we are all here, I was wondering if I could ask one question before you ask me because I’m quite sure you have a couple”, Slimecicle said with a smile.
“That will work for me” Phil responded, “Techno?” Techno shifted in his seat uncomfortably.
“Sure.” Techno answered.
“Fabulous!” Slimecicle cheered,

“Now riddle me this, what’s the Angel of Death herself and the favored follower of the Blood god doing in a server like this?”
