Work Text:

Dechipped Clones weren’t that uncommon on the rebel base; a segment of the rebel’s focus was on freeing as many clones as possible. Cody was fortunate to be one of the ones saved. He’d never be able to see his General again nor have the chance to apologize. Maybe when he marched on, he’d be able to, but for now, he was doing what his General would do if he was alive. Fight the Good Fight.

The current location of the base on Yavin 4 and the jungle planet was excellent, as was their site of the base. His Jedi would have liked it here, Cody thinks wistfully, but Obi-wan Kenobi would not have liked the latest brutality the Empire had just committed.

Cody was saddened by the news of what happened to Alderaan. It seemed that the Empire was never short on atrocious acts. With the mood around the base being weighed down upon the latest events, they were in desperate need to hear some good news right about now. Bail Organa was gone now, another connection to his General lost. A leader of the rebellion was gone, with not even a chance to fight back.  Cody wondered if the rebellion would be planning an assault on the newest weapon soon. Because the Empire just couldn’t be allowed to wield such a devasting weapon. His thoughts were cut off as a frazzled-looking rebel ran into Cody. The former Marshall commander didn’t see any distress upon the man’s face, more like something bordering on glee. Which after what just happened was quite odd and concerning considering the latest news.

“You shouldn’t be running around the base like that. What has you in such a rush?” asked Cody

“Princess Leia is back. She was rescued by a group of people, and they landed just now.” Grinned the Rebel. “My sis is in the infirmary; I was going to tell her.” Cody raised an eyebrow, well they were all in need of the good news, but he didn’t see what would warrant such reckless behavior.

“Well, that is some good news we are in desperate need of, but it still doesn’t explain why you’re running around unless the Empire is coming here?”  The rebel looked on in shock.

“What, no, of course not. One of the rescuers cleared out any tracking devices planted in the ship.” It seemed that comment revigorated the rebel. So much so Cody thought that the rebel was practically vibrating. “It’s how they did which makes it so amazing because of who they are. A Jedi.” Cody went rigid as he sucked in air. A Jedi, and not one that is a familiar face in the alliance. Well, finding any surviving Jedi is good; it was always so awkward for Cody. Cody and the Vod, still around and free, were either sent pitying looks or were met with hostility. But having another Jedi joining the alliance was worth the discomfort Cody might experience.  “That’s not all; wait until you hear who it is. It is absolutely stellar because the Jedi is Obi-wan Kenobi.”

Cody’s fragilely repaired outlook had just shattered. The memories of Utapau were replaying before him. Of handing his General back his lightsaber, the flicker that caressed his mind that conveyed so much love and hope, receiving the order, being unable to even scream or flinch as his body moved against his will pointing to his Jedi. The bodies falling from the cliff. His Jedi falling to his death from Cody’s order. His Jedi was dead. His cyare.

Cody gripped the man’s shoulder, his chest swelling in desperate hope.

“You’re sure? Your sure it was Obi-wan Kenobi?” questioned Cody, his voice tinged with desperation and frantic. The rebel seemed hesitant.

“Yeah, I’m sure. He was telling this kid that Ben wasn’t his actual name that it was Obi-wan. Not Ben Kenobi but Obi-wan Kenobi.” Answered the man, and Cody released him, stumbling back.

“He’s not dead. I didn’t kill him.” Cody muttered, feeling suddenly light-headed,

“I’m sorry what?” asked the trooper.

“Where?” demanded Cody. “Where were they?”

“The Main hangar….” Started to answer the trooper, but that was all Cody needed, and he took off. His heart pounding so loud in his ears. This was a dream too good to be true, it could be someone named after his Jedi, but he had to know. He needed to see this with his own eyes. He couldn’t wait, and he damn well wasn’t going to let anyone stop him. He was almost sprinting in his desperation to reach the hangar.  People got out of his way, no one trying to stop him.  Clones never ran without reason, after all. The closer he got to the hanger, the harder it seemed to breathe. The only thing in his mind was Obi-wan. He slammed the control to open the door to the main hangar, not even waiting for it to fully open before going through.

X-wings and other aircraft were scattered around all normal in the hangar. So Cody’s eyes immediately found the out-of-place ship. It wasn’t an awe-inspiring ship at first glance, and Cody had to guess that it must belong to a smuggler or something. Right by the ship was a Wookie who was barking at a human male with shaggy hair who seemed to be gesturing to the ship speaking to the young woman before him. Princess Leia, his mind supplied. A young boy was next to her, a golden droid looking over his shoulder. Beside the trio of young humans was an almost familiar astromech was circling a brown-robed man with white hair whose back was to Cody talking with a group of higher-ups.

Long brown robes. Jedi Like Robes.

The robed man seemed to freeze, his body going rigid. The younger man with the shorter hair turned to the man and seemed to be asking something. Cody stilled when a gentle spark seemed to hesitantly glide over him, and his heart stuttered. It seemed to happen in slow motion; the older man was turning as if slowly scanning the hanger before Cody began to see his face. He had seen that familiar look throughout the war when scanning the environment for threats or mapping out a strategy for battle.

It was him.

Blue raw indicolite tourmaline eyes flittered over him, almost passing over the clone before they immediately snapped their gaze back and locked on Cody. The hangar disappeared, and all the surroundings, where all that remained was the man and Cody. No, all that remained was his Cyare and him. He couldn’t hear the Jedi’s voice, but he saw his mouth move. The words his mouth was saying.

Cody?

Tears filled the former commander’s eyes as he choked, making it difficult to speak.

“Obi-wan.” He professed, then the Jedi was moving, and Cody was too. He could not stay apart from Obi-wan any longer. He barreled into the man circling his arms around the robed back, who embraced him as well.

“Cody. Oh Cody, gar oyayc.  Ner cyar'ika gar oyayc.” Shook the sorely missed melodic voice.

“Ner jetii, Ni ceta, Ni ceta, Ni nayc copad at koperar gar.” Cody locked eyes with the other man, and he sobbed, falling against the Jedi’s shoulder.  “Oyayc!” he exclaimed, rubbing his face into the shoulder, taking in the desperately missed scent that was solely Obi-wan.  “Bid briikase gar oyayc.” Wept Cody. Hands cupped his cheek directing his gaze to the Jedi’s face. His Jedi still beautiful, even with the clear showing of him getting old. Still breathtaking.

“Nothing to forgive.” Replied Obi-wan bringing their foreheads together gently in a keldabe kiss. “My love, I missed you so much.”

“Obi-wan, Cyare.” Confessed Cody. “me too, I missed you so, so much. Never again.” Obi-wan pulled his forehead away before drawing their lips close.

“Never again.” He promised, and Cody crashed their lips together. His mind flooded with so much warmth and love. He felt something latch on, a bridge connecting the two together in the Force. Connecting him to his Jedi, his other half. He couldn’t help but moan into the kiss, his lips parting to allow his Jedi in. This was where he truly belonged, with his Jedi. Arms circled around the back of the Jedi’s neck, drawing them closer while Obi-wan’s hand curled around Cody’s lower back. When the need for air was too strong, they broke apart but barely pulling their faces apart.

“Ni kar'tayl gar darasuum.” Exhaled Cody. “Ni kar'tayl gar darasuum, ner jetii.

“Ni kar'tayl gar darasuum, ner Kote.” Replied Obi-wan breathlessly with a wide smile and tears in his eyes. “Ner Kote, you have no idea how close I came to not seeing you again. But I am so glad I did.”

“Sounds like quite a story, Cyare.” Fondly huffed Cody knowing he would not probably like whatever stunt his Jedi had pulled. But at the same time, it was a familiar feeling sweetened because it was shared with Obi-wan.  Both of them had much to catch up on, but it was the ability to do it together, maybe curled up to one another. Maybe when cuddling on a sofa or perhaps together in bed.

“I am so glad to be able to share it.” Hummed Obi-wan. “But I want you to come and meet someone first.”
