Work Text:

Today seemed...unusual.

When Aizou woke up and headed to the kitchen, there was already breakfast on the table and the one who cooked was nowhere to be found.

He noticed that there was some heart shaped cookies wrapped in a small bag right beside the food, it had a little note attached to it that says: “To the best little brother ever, enjoy!”, and he immediately knew who the handwriting belonged to.

Aizou sat there and ate his breakfast quietly, making a mental note to thank Ken later. He wondered why his brother did that.

When Aizou was on the way to school, he stumbled upon Narumi Mona. A rival idol in their profession, she was a rookie his unit partner glared at one time–although accidentally–causing her to cry afterwards. He wasn’t certain if Yuujirou remembered her though.

“Uh, here...for you.” she muttered, handing him a brown paper bag. “...I never got to thank you for that time.”

“Ah.” Aizou said in a quiet tone, he couldn’t remember it that well but he took the offered gift anyway. “...thank you,”

The girl waved a hand dismissively. “Don't thank me,” she then started walking away. “Say hi to him for me, by the way.”

Aizou stared as she slowly disappeared out of sight. What was that all about? He thought to himself. Aizou opened the paper bag and took a peek inside, and to his surprise, it was cinnamon buns. He blinked at the unexpected pastries.

He took a bite while walking, Aizou laughed a little to himself. “Who knew she was a baker?”

When he got to the school, his phone buzzed. Aizou picked it up from his pocket.

Ken:

How's your breakfast?:D

Aizou typed back.

You:

Not bad. Glad it wasn't pasta.

Ken:

As expected~ anything delicious for my little brother!

The blonde snorted and made his way to class. He opened the door and sat on his seat. Aizou wasn't on the same class as his boyfriend, but…

“Oh, hey! Morning!” Minami greeted when the blonde entered the room. “Hiyori was worried you weren't going to make it to class!”

“T-that's not it!” Hiyori protested, a frown forming on her face. “Akechi-sensei was asking for him this morning!”

That's right. He's stuck with these two now in their second year of high school, at the very least. Even though Hiyori had warmed up to them, she was still afraid, and Aizou can't blame her when Yuujirou keeps on pulling tricks. And Minami...well, they got along from the start.

“Ah– um...anyways!” Hiyori cleared her throat, attempting to change the subject. She pulled out a notebook out of her bag. “Here! I took notes for you from yesterday's English class!”

Aizou gazed at the notebook in her hand, blinking. “Why?”

“Ah, um...I noticed you were spacing out yesterday.” Hiyori reasoned with a sweat running down on her cheek.

Huh…

Aizou accepted the notes. “Thanks, Hiyori.”

Minami laughed but then seemed to remember something. “I forgot to give you this, by the way!” he took the cup of coffee on his desk and handed it to Aizou.

“Oh, thanks...wait…” Aizou eyed the coffee, “Who gave this...?”

“Err...me?”

“I don't believe you.” the blonde revealed the name written on his cup which was: ‘Moron’

“The barista must have made a mistake,” Minami frowned.

Aizou snorted. “Aizou is far away from moron though.”

“Sorry, sorry!” Minami pleaded, “He was really salty!”

Aizou laughed and took a sip of his coffee.

...why am I receiving a lot of stuff today?

When lunch time came, Aizou was at the bending machine when he saw someone near their school gate. It was Kanata and Asuka.

“Aizou! Over here!” Kanata shouted, waving his hand in the air.

Aizou shook his head, closing and opening his eyes. They definitely did not just come here.

...good lord, why are they here?

“What are you two doing here?” Aizou asked once he was in front of them.

“We wanted to have lunch with you!” Kanata beamed.

Aizou shot them a confused stare. “Wh- huh? Kanata, do you have a fever?”

“Nope! I'm perfectly fine!”

“Okay...then, what do you want?”

“Just as Kanata said.” Asuka replied, “He was sleeping in class and then suddenly woke up and shouted “Let's have lunch with Aizou!” while the teacher was there.” he explained while giving his partner an unimpressed expression. That didn't deter Kanata in the slightest, though.

“Oh my god, is that Ascana?!” a female voice shouted from the distance.

“Ascana's here?!”

“Ah- let's chat later, come on!” Kanata said, quickly dragging Aizou out of the school, ignoring the latter's protest with Asuka following, giving him an apologetic look.

“This is fun!”

What is?!”

“Just like a game of tag!”

“What?!”

“But no one's it!”

“Just shut up and run!”

“Asuka! How many are behind us?!”

“About twenty females.”

“You didn't have to count how many are after us!”

“Twenty?! I see! Tell them we'll give our autographs later-!”

KANATA!” both blondes shouted, sprinting further away from the people running after them.

They stopped at a nearby café, panting. They had somehow managed to lose the fans.

“Who knew we were known at LipxLip's school too?” Asuka commented, catching his breath.

“Right~ they might be favoring us over LipxLip,” Kanata joked. Aizou glared at him.

“Let's just go inside.”

“I hope they have pudding, fufu~” Kanata sing songs as they enter inside.

After ordering, the three sat on a table.

“Here!” Kanata exclaimed, placing a bento box on the table. “I heard from Maecchi that you weren't bringing lunches for the last few days, I always prepare extra lunches!”

“Oh,” Aizou eyed the box, and then opened it.

“...thanks.”

Kanata hummed and took a bite of the pudding he ordered.

“How are you?” Asuka asked.

Aizou knew why he was asking that.

“Fine, I guess…” Aizou shrugged, taking a bite of his food.

“Really?”

“Yes.”

“For reals?” Kanata says, grinning as he points his fork at Aizou. “You're not very good at pretending, are you?

Aizou sighed. “I have to be.”

“Okay, change of topic.” Asuka suggested, trying to break the atmosphere.

“Hey, Aizou, did you know that Yuujirou visited our place when you're in your first year?”

“He did?” Aizou looked at him, surprised.

“Mhm,” Asuka nodded. “Remember that roast beef incident?”

“Ah...that. How could I forget?” Aizou muttered.

Kanata laughed. “Okay, well...after that, he came to our apartment and asked me to teach him how to cook.”

“Really?” Aizou took another bite of his food.

“Yeah,” Asuka snorted. “He almost burned half our kitchen.”

Aizou smirked. Definitely something Yuujirou would do.

“But it worked out in the end!” Kanata beamed. “He said he really wanted to make something for you and that he wasn't going home until he had made a decent one. Asuka was worrying about our apartment being blown up!”

“Well,” Asuka started, “He already burned our rice cooker while in the middle of the lesson.”

“True! But, he's serious about learning so it's all worth it!”

“I guess.”

Kanata hummed and turns to Aizou. “He really wanted to give it to you.”

So that explains why he was almost late to school that time...

“Kanata,” Asuka sighed. “Just eat your food, lunch's almost over.”

“Ah, right! Sorry!”

After lunch, Asuka told Aizou to keep the box with him. Aizou protested but Kanata insisted and they waved him goodbye with the brunette shouting: “Let's have lunch again sometime!”

Aizou started walking, seemingly lost in thought.

What a strange day...ah, that's right. I have to go somewhere after school.

“Aizou-kun, goodbye!”

“I hope you get home safely!”

Aizou waved goodbye at the girls from the distance as he was heading out of school. “Thank you! You too!”

“Kyahh! So cute!”

Aizou blushed at the words. He certainly wasn't cute.

“Shibasaki.”

Aizou turned to where the voice was coming from, Akechi stood behind him.

“Akechi-sensei!” Aizou jumped from his spot. “Err, did you...need something? Suzumi said you were asking for me this morning.”

“No, I wanted to talk to you,” Akechi replied. “How is he?”

Ah...

“O-oh! He's doing fine,” Aizou answered. “I'm sure, he's...alright.”

“I see."

Akechi took out two lollipops from his pocket and handed it to the blonde. “Send him my regards.” he paused before adding; “Take care of yourself, Shibasaki. Otherwise he'll get mad.”

“Yes, thank you.”

The teacher gave him a nod and waved goodbye as he left.

Aizou stared at the offered lollipops in his hands before opening it and placing the other one inside his bag. He had gotten lemon this time. Aizou started walking towards the direction he's headed to.

He got there after a few moments.

“Pardon my intrusion,” Aizou greeted when he entered the room, lowering his tone.

“Ah, good afternoon, you're just in time,” Tae greeted him with a gentle smile. She was probably here the whole day.

Aizou returned her smile and closed the door behind him and he started walking towards the bed beside her, giving Tae the basket of fruits he had brought.

“I'll leave now,” she gave him a pat on the shoulder before leaving the room.

Right there, on the bed in front of him, laid Someya Yuujirou. His hair was sprawled on the pillow, his eyes were closed, and he had oxygen on his mouth to support his breathing. Aizou took a sit on the chair beside the bed.

“Hey, little prince...” Aizou said, and he got no response. “You didn't attend classes again today...so unusual.”

He kept talking for a while.

“-and then Minami created a whole new formula!” Aizou told with a laugh. “I can't believe it worked, though…”

Aizou checked his phone. “Oh, I should be going now...” he turned back to Yuujirou. “Thank you for today.”

Aizou held his hand. He always cried during visits, and he had yet to stop. Why was he so upset anyway? Yuujirou was still here.

He vaguely remembers the time it happened. They were going walking home from practice, and suddenly someone came up from behind and was about to hit Aizou with a huge rock–when Yuujirou immediately pushed him out of the way and was the one who got hit instead. Aizou had acted on instinct and knocked the guy out, his manager, upon hearing all the commotion outside, came out of the studio and panicked. She quickly called an ambulance and the police.

The guy turned out to be a crazy person that just got out of mental, Aizou soon learned.

Aizou wiped his tears away. He managed a smile. “You'll wake up soon...right?”

The door opened, and Tae came in.

Aizou stood and bowed to her. “Thank you again for today, Someya-san.”

“Of course,” she smiled gently, looking over to her son. “Don't worry...my son is a strong person.”

Aizou smiled, glancing at him. “He is.”

The blonde leaned down and kissed Yuujirou's forehead, fighting back the tears that were threatening to come out again.

He looked at his boyfriend's peaceful expression. But that wasn't the expression he should be wearing right now. Yuujirou should be smirking, teasing him over the littlest things...smiling with him.

“Good night. I wish you a beautiful dream.”

He'll definitely wake up soon.

Notes:
