Work Text:
Yusuf was leaning up against his horse while looking at Nicolò with a smirk, who was having a small fight with their latest purchase.
Yusuf: "Need any help?"
Nicolò: "Why was it we bought this what was it you call it?"
Yusuf: "A camel. It will make it easier for our horses not to carry all our belongings through the desert."
Nicolò: "Where I'm from, people normally buy a mule."
Yusuf: "Well, do you see any mules around here?"
Nicolò jumped to the side to avoid being kicked by the camel and ended up face down in the sand.
Yusuf: "Be careful. They have a mind of their own."
Nicolò: "You don't say."
Nicolò kicked the sand in frustration.
Yusuf: "Feeling better?"
Nicolò: "Not really, so why don't you help me since it was your brilliant idea to buy that damn animal?"
Yusuf: "It's called a camel and why should I ruin the start of what might be a beautiful friendship between you two."
Nicolò: "Let me put it this way. If you don't help me, you can sleep with the camel tonight."
Yusuf: "Fine, but only because you smell better than the camel."
Yusuf walked over and helped Nicolò up, who brushed off the sand from his trousers.
Nicolò: "Did you just say I smell better than the camel?"
Yusuf: "And you are also so much more beautiful than the camel."
Nicolò: "Don't know if I should be offended that I smell better and are more beautiful than a camel."
Nicolò looked at the camel before Yusuf gently took Nicolo's face between his hands.
Yusuf: "You shouldn't be offended my love, because to me you will always be the most beautiful divine being on this Earth."
Nicolò: "I think I will call you an incurable romantic from now on."
Yusuf kissed Nicolò.
Yusuf: "I like that."
Nicolò: "And just so you know it. In the future, every time I see a camel, I will remind you of that time you compared me to a camel."
Yusuf: "Just remember that I said you were more beautiful than a camel."
Nicolò: "I will. Shall we get going? We still got a long road ahead of us."
Yusuf: "You are right. Should I handle the camel?"
Nicolò: “No, got an idea.”
Nicolò took the last of Yusuf's figs and offers the fig to the camel, who finally follows with him.
