Chapter Text
The first person to wake up was of course,
Philza Minecraft.
He was cursed with the fact he had three chaotic children. He loved them dearly, of course. But some of the side-effects of having the trio… Waking up extremely early. Around Four to Five in the morning?
At least that gave him enough time to do whatever he needed before his boys awoke. Be it cleaning, cooking, or just relaxing.
As he peered at the clock on his bedside table, he read the numbers the digital clock displayed.
5:30 A.M
Oh, thank, God.
While he enjoyed spending some time to himself, he did feel a little bit more lively with his boys around him. So swinging his legs off the edge of the side, he pushed himself up from the King-Sized bed.
He took a glance in the mirror, snickering slightly at how messy his hair had gone from sleeping. Thank god that his hair was easy to tame, if his hair was anything like his boys, he knew that it would’ve taken far much longer.
His twins would likely awake first, but for now, he calmly listened to the snores coming from his boys' separate bedrooms. It seemed as if they were all noisy sleepers, except for him. Even though all of his kids had insisted that he snored the loudest.
That couldn’t be true.
He peered into each of their rooms, loving how peaceful they looked when they weren’t running around and causing chaotic trouble. Once he had finished internally melting of cuteness, he quietly clicked all of their doors shut.
As he walked down the stairs, he decided to cook something nice for breakfast. Something that they didn’t regularly have. Besides, the kids were on their two-week break, because of some event or Holiday… Honestly, he couldn’t remember how often the school gave the children time off.
He decided to make something that could be eaten cold. He just wanted to finish making the food now, because One. He was hungry, Two, he didn’t think he’d be as motivated to make something exciting in Two hours.
So, relaxing time it was.
Relaxing and cleaning time.
Hey, the man liked it when the house was clean. And it was relaxing when all was done and finished. The living room had been left a mess after movie night. Not the worst he had seen, but he felt a tiny bit disappointed as he knew for absolute certainty that he had told his twins to tidy up the mess that they had made.
Techno and Wilbur had whined a little bit and agreed. Phil noticed that some parts had been cleaned, so they had tried to make an effort.
That’s when Phil began to remember what he said last night.
“Boys, just go to sleep. We’ll deal with it in the morning, okay?” As he held his sleeping toddler Tommy on his lap.
His two eldest had quickly agreed, before disappearing to get ready for bed.
Right.
He didn’t really know how he forgot that, but he managed it. Deciding it didn’t matter too much, Phil decided to just do it himself. Besides, it wasn’t that much cleaning to do. He could do it himself.
Just as he’d finished putting the pillows in the correct spots on the couch, he heard footsteps making their way down the stairs.
Huh. What coincidental timing.
“So now you decide to show up,” He said to the voice. Not in an angry or mad tone, of course not. But more in a joking way.
He paused a bit when he realized it wasn’t Techno or Wilbur like he had thought it would be, it was his youngest. Tommy. Who was very confused, tilting his head strangely like a puppy as he carefully made his way downstairs.
Phil walked over to where Tommy was down the first three top steps, and picked him up, not wanting the child to fall.
“Ah, sorry Mate. Thought you were one of the Twins.” As Phil put his blonde boy down. Tommy didn’t seem to be the biggest fan of no longer being in his dad’s hold, as he put his little baby-arms back up, letting Phil know that he wanted to be picked back up.
“You want me to pick you up, Mate?” A nod, Wait, no. Multiple nods, pretty keen and energetic.
“Alright, alright. Hold still you little Gremlin.” As his youngest giggled, squirming at the ticklish feeling from being lifted.
“Good mornin...” His youngest spoke out, burying himself deeper into the elder man's soft green pajamas. Scratching his neck sleepily.
“Morning to you too, Mate. You have a nice nap?” 11 hours of sleep was very much not a nap. But he got a vigorous head shake, yes. Tommy had woken up a bit early for him, as it was now 7 AM after all the cleaning and relaxing.
“That’s good, hey. If you nod your head any more, It’s gonna fall off.” He joked. His youngest immediately reached both of his arms to his head, trying to make sure that his head was still very much attached.
“Just Kiddin, you hungry?” He questioned his youngest. The answer would probably be a yes, so he made his way over to the kitchen area.
He didn’t expect a head shake no.
“And why not Big Man?” He looked curiously at his son, the child had a ridiculous metabolism that worked really strangely, so for him to not actually be full for once was something.
“I’m not hungry.” The toddler stated, firm on his answer.
Phil was a little puzzled, but his sons were eating a lot of junk food last night, even if he was sure that Tommy didn’t get any… That child was chaotic, so maybe he’d managed to sneak some sugar in there.
“Okay, if you’re sure.” Philza wasn’t stupid, he was still going to make breakfast for Tommy, no matter if the child was hungry or not. Besides, once the kid saw the food then he would most definitely have changed his mind.
Right, the food.
Phil still didn’t really have much of an idea of what he was going to cook, so he decided to ask his son. “What should we make for Wilbur and Techno, Tom’s?” And for him too, but Phil left that part out.
He knew that the child would probably bring up food that he found tasty. Since he hadn’t fully grasped the idea that different people can like and dislike other foods.
“Banana sandwich! And… Pancakes!” He instantly responded. That wasn’t actually too bad of a choice coming from the same child who made a, ‘Gummy bear and Lollipop Toast Sunday!’ That was, frankly, one of the grossest things he’d witnessed someone eat.
“Alrighty!” As he went to put his youngest down.
Tommy wasn’t happy, which Phil tried to gently ignore. He still kept ruffling the boy's hair and tried not to pay too much attention to how his kid was clinging to him so much. He knew if he acknowledged it, the child would want to be picked back up again.
And as much as he really wanted to do that, children being children, get hurt. And this wasn’t the first time that Phil not paying 100% attention led to someone getting burned.
What he was trying to get across was, if he held Tommy while cooking. He was 90% sure that the child could get hurt. And knowing you let your own kid get hurt when you could’ve stopped it. That was truly the worst feeling.
He felt like he was saved from the temptation of picking the kid up when he heard the familiar loud footsteps and chatter of his twins. Now Tommy would go up to them, and let him cook in peace.
Tommy did not go up to them.
Instead, the child decided he was more interested in quietly hovering and watching as Philza oftenly flipped the pancakes. Aweing at how cool it looked, even if the man did miss most of them, with the pathetic floppy pancakes dangling off the side of the pan most of the time.
Wilbur and Techno had chuckled as they waited at the dining table, talking to each other.
“Morning, boys!” He spoke to his eldest’s.
He got a good morning back from both of them as Techno spoke up.
“Phil, I don’t mean to alarm you but there’s a baby bird right behind you.” Wilbur chuckled, glancing at the little child who was holding onto the back of Philza’s silky pajama robe.
“Ah, I didn’t notice. Would one of you boys rescue me please?” The teens agreed, Wilbur being extra dramatic and swooping his little baby brother up in the air. The child seemed to like this as he cuddled into the hug.
“Aha, I’ve rescued you, Phil, you can now go back to… What the heck are you cooking?” While the child was around, the family had to refrain from swearing, after the last incident.
(Someone had picked on his big brothers, which the sweet-innocent child retaliated by as he used every swear word he had heard his family say. Some of the worst ones came from Phil when he thought his children weren’t around.)
“Tom’s told me I should make this for you lot. And don’t act so surprised, It’s just pancakes and toast.”
Techno grimaced. “You’re putting sliced bananas into toast?”
“What? You’re too picky, that kinda sounds nice.” Wilbur replied.
“You disgust me.” Techno sneered.
“I like it.” The child mumbled, glaring at his big brother.
“You disgust me too, heathen.”
“Techno, you don’t need to eat it. You can just have the professionally cooked pancakes I made.” As he accidentally flipped another one off of the pan.
“I’m pretty sure more of them are on the floor than the stove.
“Shush.”
Breakfast was a success! He’d managed to make it without anything looking too burnt this time! Wilbur was the better cook, but hey. He liked the Dad-feel that cooking gave him. So he insisted on doing the food.
Plus he felt guilty about letting a teenager cook for everyone, even if it was really good.
He was a little bummed out that Tommy didn’t eat all the pancakes. Or much of the toast. Actually, he hadn’t eaten much in general. But the child did say he wasn’t too hungry earlier. Oh well, he’d still be allowed a snack later if he wanted.
He wasn’t one of those strict parents that made their kids eat all their food.
So the three chaotic children thanked him and began doing what they’d do usually when on Holiday. He smiled at the bickering coming from his twins, normally it’d be tiring to most people.
But to Phil, it was homely. He knew his boys weren’t seriously fighting, if they were he wouldn’t be as calm as he was. Tommy was doing whatever Toddlers do. Colouring? Or maybe writing?
Nope, definitely coloring if the scribbles in circles were anything to go off of. He chuckled at the clever way Tommy used the pencil to scratch his back in the places his tiny-baby hands couldn’t reach.
The boys continued whining amongst each other about what they were going to do, both having different opinions, which… When one of the kids wanted to do something, they’d do it. So that’s why when someone had a different opinion or plan…
“Boys quit fighting or I’ll pick for you.”
Silly move, Philza. Silly move.
“I’m just saying Phil, wouldn’t the lake by the forest be so much more fun? Besides, who wants to go where they work on a holiday?
“Hey! Phil, that sounds stupid. Techno’s an idiot, It’s not the school. I just wanna go to town, which happens to be near the school.”
“Wilbur, don’t call your brother an idiot. Boys, can’t you just… Go separately? Both of you go to where you want to go?”
“No!” both of them said in unison.
“Ah, well… I’m out of ideas.” The man shrugged, as he took a sip of his coffee that he had just finished making.
“Aren’t you going to choose?!” Wilbur practically pleaded.
“Nope, I know if I just choose, you’ll still argue about it, or say something stupid about, ‘favorites’. I gave my idea, now you two decide amongst yourselves.”
His boys returned to arguing amongst themselves, as Phil decided that his youngest drawing was much more entertaining than whatever else was going on.
The kid drew fast . That didn’t mean the drawings were good, but they weren’t the worst drawings that he’s seen a five-year-old draw.
He notices one with a lot of green, and quietly takes it from where it was discarded to the side, while the youngest continues his drawing. Keen on using a lot of the red pencil.
Oh boy does Phil get a large grin as he stares at the picture. It’s a messily drawn drawing done fully in pencil.
With the amount of green and the red love hearts scattered around, he could tell that it was meant to be him. He fucking loved his kid. He was so sweet, even if he was a menace.
The menace stared at the drawing in Phil’s hand, looking as embarrassed as a 5-year-old could manage.
“Aw, mate. I love it. Is it meant to be me?” As he expertly gestured towards the pointy rectangle-looking hat that was drawn on him.
His kid nodded, sheepishly. Playing with his hands and glancing only at the paper, a sign that he was uncomfortable. Luckily, that quickly changed as Phil opened one of his arms wide, the other holding the piece of paper as delicately as a feather.
He let out a little ‘Oof!’ as his son graciously snuggled into the hug.
“Someone’s clingy,” Techno mumbled, snickering slightly. As well as Wilbur. Phil felt a little sad when his youngest stopped hugging as tightly after hearing his older brothers. He liked it when his youngest son was clingy, it didn’t happen too much. Because apparently, the Gremlin had too much pride.
Phil began to realize that his sons had probably resolved the argument as they went to put their shoes on.
“Boys?”
“Yeah, Dad?” They both replied in sync.
“I’m glad you’re both not fighting, but… You’re both still in your pajamas still.” The Twins blanked, looking down at themselves and then each other. It was a little freaky to anyone passing by how in sync they could be at times.
Even as they both raced as they made their ways to their separate bedrooms.
Phil snickered, his boys…
Philza and Tommy were still in their pajamas as both of his boys went out the door. They both promised to be back soon, which Phil knew that they would keep. His kids never intentionally broke a promise.
The Twins were in a better mood, they loved their little brother… But they didn’t want to bring around an energetic toddler with them. Especially one who would snitch if they got into fights. The kid had good morals, they’d give him that. But they didn’t want everything being told to Phil. Even if it was a little roughhousing with friends.
“Alrighty, Mate. You and I both need to put on actual clothes. I know It’s comfy wearing this but It’ll be nicer if we’re both in something we can go outside in.” There was actually nothing stopping them from continuing their day in pajamas, but Phil being the parent that he was, had to set a good example for his children.
-
The rest of the day was uneventful, to say the least. Tommy had been extra-clingy, far more so than usual. The two did have fun though, they had a nice lunch which once again… Tommy didn’t have too much of. And they played calm games, Tommy’s clinginess had eased up a bit when Techno and Wilbur got back a few hours later.
By the time that his eldest children, Techno and Wilbur got back, it was now 4 PM. They’d left that morning at 9 AM, so they’d been out a good 7 hours. And judging by the shopping bags in both of his kids' hands, they’d been busy.
“You two have a good time?” Phil asked as he stood up from the couch where he was sitting next to his youngest.
“Yeah! We found a lot of cool stuff on discount, and we also went to the markets. As you can see, my idea was truly better than Technos.
“Yeah, yeah. I’m only admitting it because I found a cool skull.”
Wilbur quickly reassured his Dad at the panicked face the man gave off, “It’s not real, don’t worry.”
Techno dramatically held the realistic-looking skull out to where everyone could see. “Or is it? Dun dun dun…” Tommy looked comically spooked, so Techno snorted as he spoke up again, “Nah, don’t worry Theseus. As much as I wanted it to be real, It’s just a decoration, see?” As he flipped the skull upside down, the sculptured-in signature was clearly visible.
“Well, it looked like you two had a busy day. Me and Tommy were just chilling all day.”
“That sounds boring.” Wilbur pointed out helpfully.
“Well, Wil. It actually wasn’t.” He had a nice time with his youngest, and even if there wasn’t much going on, he knew it would upset Tommy a lot. If Phil said he’d been bored.
“Whatever you say Dadza.” As the boys went back to their rooms to probably display whatever nightmare they had bought.
Dinner had gone just a tiny bit wrong.
Now when it was worded like that, it sounded bad.
What he meant was, the cooking of the food had gone perfectly smooth. And none of the food ended up on the floor this time! (Besides some chips.) Nobody had gotten injured, burned… Or just hurt in general, which was good.
The thing that wasn’t good is that his youngest hadn’t finished much of his food, again. Twice? Alright something he should take a note of, but when it was dinner and Phil had made Tommy’s favorite? Something was off.
He decided not to point it out, besides the gentle coaxing he sent to all his boys, not to seem suspicious. Just a few offhand mentions that they should eat all their chips. Not like he was hinting too hard.
If Techno and Wilbur noticed the sheer difference between both their plates combined versus their little brother? They didn’t say anything.
They politely thanked Phil for the food, as they went to the couch. The Living room looked a tiny bit dirty again, but that was mostly the winged man's fault. Tommy had been coloring earlier, so the pencils in the corner were obvious. But the whole game board set on the table? That was Phil’s fault.
He’d been bored, more so than the actual child , and asked him if he wanted to play a game that he’d played when he was younger. He pointedly ignored how Tommy asked if that meant the game was ancient.
Kids say the most damn insulting things without realizing it. Good thing Phil just snorted and laughed it off. He could only picture the responses if the child had said it to some of his friends, instead.
“Alrighty, boys? If you need to use the bathroom, go now because I’m gonna give Tommy a B-A-T-H” He individually sounded out the letters. The kid didn’t exactly like bath’s, and nobody could blame the child after the trouble he’d gotten in with water before.
He decided to ask his twins as everyone in the house knew that bathtime probably took the longest out of any necessity the child needed.
Phil realized that there was a good possibility that maybe five-year-olds could understand short words being spelled out. He came to this realization as the youngest had steadily begun sneaking away throughout that short conversation.
TechnoBlade and Wilbur couldn’t hold it in as they started laughing, they’d seen their brother steadily ran away the moment Phil had finished spelling out the word, and the fact their Dad hadn’t noticed until that point- Comedy gold.
It wasn’t as funny for Philza as he now knew that the Gremlin child was aware of what he was going to make him do.
Phil sighed as he lightly smiled as he made his way up the stairs, hearing the chants from his boys in the distance, repeating “Go Philza!”
It took him fourteen minutes just to find Tommy.
And when he did, he was a little disappointed in himself, because the child was sitting in plain sight. “Mate, you know what I have to do.”
The child had nowhere to go, even if he did run.
So with Phil closing in on him, he swooped the child up, who genuinely made no attempt to squirm out of his Dad’s grasp. Maybe the chaotic kid was tired out after a long day of… Well actually they hadn’t done much, but who knows. Kids are weird.
Phil carried him to the upstairs bathroom, the only one that had a shower and a bathtub. He placed his kid down onto the ground as he began running the perfectly temperature bath. He’d gotten so good at making them just right that he’d mentally memorized what position to put the taps at for it to be perfect without swishing the water around for ages.
He was a little suspicious of how compliant his kid was being. Maybe he was going to make a run for it? No, he couldn’t. Phil had locked the door to prevent that happening again. And the child, as smart as he was… He could only lock doors. And not unlock them.
Hence how all the locks needed an override key as the child managed to lock himself inside his room one time. That was scary for everyone, especially the Gremlin.
Phil had closed his eyes until the child got into the water. Only helping with the child’s hair, that was the most chaotic thing to do, since the kid had curls. Which got pretty dirty with all the running around he usually did. Of course, it wasn’t too bad as he hadn’t played outside today, but it would be stupid not to clean it.
Normally Phil would get splashed in the face fifty times by now, but the kid was intent on not making a mess everywhere this time. Maybe something was off, as he got the last bit of dirt out of his kids hair, he pulled the drain and handed the red towel to his boy.
The child stumbled a bit trying to get out of the slippery bath, but he was quick to put the towel around himself. Doing something that the dog’s at the village would do when wet, shaking his hair.
Phil started laughing, there was the mess he was waiting for. “Mate, why are you like this?” He teased lightly.
He didn’t want his son to change for the world.
Tommy was fully ready for bed, now that he was wearing his new pair of pajamas that Phil had gotten him.
He’d gotten all his boys matching animal pajamas after spotting them in the store, they were too adorable to pass up, so he instantly bought them.
He smiled thinking of how embarrassed his eldest sons looked wearing them, there was nothing more fun than playfully embarrassing your children.
The onesie was a brown cow onesie, Wilbur had a yellow duck and Techno, well he had a pig of course!
Phil was doing the last thing for the night after he’d taken care of his own necessities, such as brushing his teeth.
The final knots came out of his youngest hair as he brushed it, perfect and fluffy.
“Alright, Mate. You’re all done, you can go to your room and sleep now.” As he lightly ushered his kid to the doorway.
The doorway was where his kid still stood, not leaving to go to his room.
“Phil?” The child asked.
“Yeah, Mate?” Was he going to ask for a snack maybe? Or a drink? Or something like being tucked in in his room? He’d done all those before, so It’d make sense for the child to want that.
“... Can I sleep in your room tonight?”
Okay, he hadn’t expected that at all. Not by a long shot.
“Mate, you’re a big boy. You’ve got your own room, I can tuck you in if you’d like?” Tommy hadn’t asked that in a long, long time. ‘A long Time’ was maybe nearly a year ago when he was four? It wasn’t as understandable back then, but now it was clear.
Tommy shook his head and went back to his room on his own silently.
Did Phil mess up by saying that? He should’ve questioned why his kid wanted to stay with him, it made sense that there had to be something up. Already deciding what he was going to do, he sighed. Quite quickly walking to the kid’s room who’d already quietly closed the door.
Tommy was sitting on his bed, on top of the covers, facing the wall away from him. The feel of the room was enough to let him know that the kid wasn’t asleep. It was too quiet, It sounded weird but Tommy’s breathing pattern was far different when he was sleeping. Oh yeah, also the snoring. The kid practically snored the second he fell asleep.
Tommy paused at the new weight coming from the other side of his tiny bed.
“Tom’s, you awake?” He got a head shake for no, as he tried to sink deeper into the bed. It would’ve been more effective if he was under the covers.
“Mate, why’ve you been so clingy today? I’m not mad and I don’t mind, I just want to know. You’ve been acting a little strange today.”
The toddler shifted again, and Phil was almost completely sure he wouldn’t get an answer.
“... Felt funny…”
“Felt Funny?” The man repeated, a little concerned. “Funny, how Tom’s?”
“I’m hungry but I’m not hungry, and my head feels squishy.”
If someone told a Doctor that their head felt squishy , they would immediately be concerned.
And Phil was concerned, yes. But knew his kid well enough to know what meant it was probably a headache. “Why didn’t you tell me, Mate?”
“... Head felt weird only when I got out of the bath… Just don’t feel good and want to be with you…” As the 5-year-old shifted again, moving slightly further away from Phil.
“Aw, Mate. I’m sorry, do you want some Calpol and come into my bed?” He asked, he always wanted to try to break the habit of letting his kids in his bed because it would typically happen again the next night. And Phil was too soft to deny it.
Tommy didn’t move. “‘M a big boy though…”
Phil flinched a little at his own words being said back to him. “Sure you are, Big Man. But big boys can feel bad sometimes. And It’s okay.”
Philza’s Dad-Speech worked, as his boy turned to face him with the faint appearance of watery eyes. Phil’s guilt went through the roof. He leaned over the bed and scooped Tommy up with both of his arms, the child burying himself quickly into his chest.
He assumed that his kid had probably over-exhausted himself the other day, and maybe didn’t get as good of a sleep as he first thought? He wasn’t too sure, but he’d check his son over again in the morning. Some Calpol and kisses and they were back in Phil’s room.
For now, the two of them slowly drifted to sleep in Philza’s King-Sized bed. All that room yet they were still cuddled together, even in slumber.
