Work Text:
- Jaskier hates being a siren. It’s like a curse.
- He’s great at singing, but even though people seem to enjoy his songs, they all die and no one stays around to talk to him or even get to know him
- Everyone abandons him because of what he is. He’s so lonely.
- One day he’s minding his own business when he spies a handsome fisherman, and sings for him
- The fisherman ignores him
- What??
- Why???
- He follows him for a while, and spies on him
- He is fascinated by this human who ignores him
- Stubborn man!
- Beautiful man though. He has golden eyes and long white hair.
- He sees the man waving his arms at someone
- Every time he sees someone he seems to wave his arms at them. Strange.
- The next time Jaskier sees his boat, he swims over and waves at him to get his attention
- The man sees him and waves back shyly
- He doesn’t seem to talk - that is strange
- Jaskier asks why he doesn’t like his singing
- The man (in a rusty voice) says he is deaf and didn’t hear him
- The waving hands make more sense
- He can lip read though, so Jaskier tries to exaggerate his lips when he speaks
- They get to know each other. His name is Geralt
- Whenever Jaskier sees his boat, he swims over and keeps him company
- Geralt even teaches him some signs and what they mean.
- He made a sign for Jaskier, which makes his heart melt a little
- Geralt asks him to sing for him
- Jaskier knows he can’t hear, so why?
- Geralt says if he puts his head on Jaskier’s chest, he’ll hear the vibrations
- Jaskier’s eyes light up and he sings his heart out, blushing when Geralt’s head makes contact with his chest.
- He strokes his white hair absentmindedly as he sings
- Geralt can’t hear it, but the vibrations are nice.
- This man, this wonderful man doesn’t appear to be affected by his siren’s curse
- It was like it was meant to be
