George always stays up editing all night for his fans, Dream decides he has had enough of it...

Notes:

it's midnight and I just thought about this.

Work Text:

Clicks of the mouse began to get slower as time went on, 3am the clock on the wall read although you could barely see it due to the darkness of the office. A newly filmed video in Minecraft was splayed across George’s monitor, he really wasn’t a fan of editing but promised his fans he would get it out by tomorrow – or today depending on how you look at it. His phone was turned completely off to not distract him from his work, or in other words so Dream didn’t ring him to get his ass into bed.

Tiredness overwhelmed his eyes, drooping as he was hardly able to keep them open. He had to get this finished though, for the fans. His boyfriend, Dream, would always suggest hiring an editor but George always replied with the same answer…

-
“Why don’t you get an editor George? Then you won’t have to stay up late at night.”

“It needs to be perfect Dream, only I can do it the way I want it.”

-

This always led George to be up in the early hours of the morning, struggling to get the editing done with exhaustion taking over his whole body. Sometimes George would end up passing out with his head laying on the desk, leading to a very pleasant conversation the next day…

-

“Hey bub wake up.” Dream whispered as he placed his hand on the other’s shoulder shaking lightly. “George.” He had said again, the smaller opened his eyes slightly with very prominent bags under his eyes. Dark hair ruffled over his forehead unkept.

“What time is it?” George mumbled, too tired to look at the clock in front of him as he closed his eyes again to try escape the banging headache he had. “2pm George… You have to stop doing this bub, it’s destroying you.” Concern laced the blonde’s voice as he stared at the brunet, wishing George would just listen to him and not be his stubborn self.
“I can’t, I promised the fans.” Another mumble left his lips.

“But I care about you George, I’m sure they would understand if your video was a couple days late… I care about you.”

-

And here George was sat once again, sat lazily at his desk as he slouched over barely able to keep focus on the computer screen. He knew it was bad from the start, but he never wanted to let anyone down… George just wanted to make everyone happy, even if it was hurting him.

The man wanted nothing more than to be asleep in a comfy bed next to his boyfriend, he would take that any day but editing this video was far more important. After zoning out for a few seconds he snapped out of his unfocused gaze and resumed on cutting parts of the footage out.

It was now that George was properly starting to feel his eyes closing, in a daze once again as he stared off into space. It was decided that George would only spend five minutes to rest his tired eyes, taking his headphones completely off as he rested his head on the all too familiar desk.

A small creek was emitted from the far end of the room, although George didn’t really care for what it was. A few seconds passed before he felt strong arms wrapped around him, almost like he was about to be lifted off. “Noo.” He whined, stretching his arms out to reach for his mouse and headphones. “Shh bub come on, let me take you to bed.” A recognisable voice had spoken softly.

“But- The fans I-“

“Don’t worry for the fans right now George, just let me take care of you… Please.”

A low mumble left his lips, more tiredness filled him as his body hit the soft sheets. George felt the bed drop on the other side, then the arms wrapped around him again as Dream’s head was nestled between his shoulder and neck. “Goodnight George, I love you.”

George couldn’t find it within himself to reply, the warm arms and blankets that were now wrapped around him made him feel safe. So much better than the hard wood desk he had slept on multiple times. Sleepiness finally took over the smaller as he laid peacefully in his lover’s arms.

They would talk about this in the morning.
